We went to Maxim’s for the first time in probably 30 years! The menu is a mixture of the traditional Chinese cuisine and some beautifully flavoured unusual dishes. The waiter service was stand-offish at first, suggesting that they are probably used to familiar regulars but eventually, they were warm and attentive. We didn’t feel rushed to finish, which made this a wonderful evening all in all.

Another great meal with family at Maxims, the service felt a bit slow...as it was busy. They could have more staff on Fridays. Would highly recommend the "Sweet Chilli Beef"; the best in West London

As there were six of us, we opted for one of the set menus to keep things simple. What great value it was, a veritable feast for under £28 per head: a huge hot platter to start, followed by top-notch crispy dusk and accoutrements, then a range of terrific chicken, fish and beef dishes with lovely green beans and special fried rice. Much as we wanted to, we couldn't finish it all and had to ask for "doggy bags". Finally, a plate of toffee apple fritters appeared and we managed somehow to find a little room to down a few of them. As always at Maxim, the service was excellent and the place was buzzing. It's easy to see after all these years why it's still a local favourite.

Great meal as always here at Maxim. Food, service and prices are all great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Often see the same people eating here, which is a good sign for me.

Very standard quality food. Chicken was very salty and would not visit again. Duck starter was best dish we had but for the price point not the quality id expect

Food was average service was rushed and management were in a hurry to get the table back. The service didn't match the price of the food.

Love this restaurant and love the food. Only problem this time was that there was a large family next to us with uncontrolled, screaming very young children who made it too loud to hear anyone speaking on our table. Even worse, the children decided to throw food at other customers with no one in their family stopping them.

Visited on a cold and snowy Friday evening but the place was still full of diners with lots of family groups escaping the weather. I often have their delicious spare ribs for my starter as they are always so meaty, tasty and satisfying. The chicken, green pepper and black bean main was less impressive, mainly because the chicken was rather pale and rubbery which is unusual for Maxim's. My veggie partner had a fried tofu starter which she liked a lot with some pak choi, mushrooms and egg fried rice to follow. The meal was accompanied by a nicely chilled bottle of pinot grigio. This is a very popular long-established neighbourhood restaurant with efficient business-like service although some might find it all a bit impersonal. The food and ambiance are consistently good and bills are reasonable however.

Great Chinese food in a lovely friend atmosphere. Their crispy chilli beef and sweet and sour chicken are amazing. They also always have the toffee apple with seasame seed dessert and vanilla ice cream that I love! 💗 Top score for Maxim!

The food was fantastic. The service was great. We’ll defenatly be going back. The only slight criticism is that the table was a little small for 4 people, so it was all a bit cramped when the food arrived.

The food was excellent but they do treat you like you are in a fast food restaurant so you don’t get the experience of a relaxed meal.

We had a very enjoyable meal. There were 4 of us and we were greeted warmly. Service is efficient. The menu is refreshingly simple with the usual favourites and some innovative dishes. The dishes we chose were well prepared and free from the usual gloopy sauces you can find in some Chinese cuisine. We will definitely return.

Have been going to this restaurant for over forty years. Last night was abysmal service and average food. Satay was dry and hard. I had to get up several times to find a waiter, felt as if our table of 10 had been abandoned. At the end of the evening I told our waiter how we felt. He said 'thank you'. Not quite the reaction I was expecting.

Had table booked for 6:30, was running a little late and when trying to change table to 7pm they were so unhelpful over the phone and insisted the table would need to be vacated by 8pm, even though there was 6 of us dining. Arrived to a very frosty atmosphere and not one of the waitresses/waiters could even crack a smile!! We dined within the hour as requested, and almost felt our food was being thrown out to us so that we would leave as soon as we could!! The food itself was lovely but the service overall really lets the place down!

Excellent food. Mobility impaired people be aware there is no ground floor toilet - it's up some stairs that do not have handrails both sides either :-( The 'tip' is non optional and is included in the bill, which I do not like.

really bad experience, have been there a plenty of times before but standards have dropped considerably, wouldn't go back there even though setting and ambiance is nice, quality of food and service has gone down in my opinion and you can find may better places than maxims for Chinese in London. Lovely restaurant, great food & service. I have given the venue 5/6 only due to the fact that the waiters/waitresses are rather over keen on topping up your wine glass through the meal - Many times we had to ask them to leave the pouring to us otherwise we would have had the whole bottle done before the mains came out.
