Visited Jam for afternoon tea with my mum for a mother’s day weekend treat. Had never been before and had seen so many rave reviews so both myself and my mum were really looking forward to it especially as they could accommodate her gluten free diet. On arrival we were seated by the door which was freezing (Granted that’s not the staffs fault) we asked to be seated elsewhere and staff were happy to arrange this for us. We were seated by the manager who told us the sandwiches on the afternoon tea were Chicken, Tuna, Cheese and Egg Mayo....my mum specifically asked for no Tuna on hers and if she could have either a chicken or egg sandwich as an alternative....this didn’t happen. Also there was no chicken sandwhich on it at all, it was houmous and pepper. When she told a member of staff she had asked for no tuna the lady was more than happy to swap it for her and she asked what sandwich she would like to replace it with....again she said either egg or chicken (she still thought it was an option and it wasn’t houmous) but she got cheese. The gluten free sandwiches would have looked better presented if we had made them at home. They looked lashed on the plate and there was no presentation to them at all. My sandwiches were not much better either to be honest. The mousse which came with it was nicely piped on afternoon tea yet on the gluten free one it looked like it had just been spooned into the glass without any care or attention. I expressed my disappointment to the manager whilst we were there and explained how if I hadn’t had already paid in full before we even went then I would have walked away by then. I was told he would have given me a full refund but couldn’t because I had paid prior to our visit. There was no offer of anything else and he simply apologised and said there’s nothing he could do....granted not his fault he didn’t make the sandwiches personally. After I had spoken to management all staff avoided our table like the plague and nothing was done to try to salvage the rest of our time there. It was a very disappointing experience as a whole and the only nice thing we had today was the cup of tea. I won’t be returning to Jam which is a shame as I had high hopes with hearing so many positive reviews.

The restaurant was beautifuly set out plenty of room which made conversation between couples very confidential the food was great and the service very quick.Love the drinks but did feel that other drinks should be available other than cocktails and gin as we did not see any whiskey drinks available but overall a very pleasant occasion which me and my partner will come again

Jam used to be a gluten free restaurant, now they are just a restaurant like every other the food is average and overpriced. With a very limited gluten free offering, in tacky surroundings.

Never been here before. Booked for a little surprise Afternoon Tea for my sister's birthday. Very busy with baby showers, etc so we were asked to leave our table. Not a problem but it would have been nice to have been told when we arrived. Had to rush out last drink as we were only given 5 minutes notice. Would return but probably not on a Saturday.

We had a nice time but cakes weren't to our liking sadly. We had the cocktail afternoon tea and so received one cocktail and had to pay extra for tea we ordered. The staff were very nice and the venue looked lovely also .

We were a party of two and having prebooked it seemed we had no table reserved for us, we were shown to whatever table was available at that time. We were sat near the door with a freezing cold breeze coming in every time the door opened. There were much better places to sit, such as the little cosy booths (one stayed empty the whole time), but that’s where we got put. We booked in for an afternoon tea with a cocktail. We were given a menu then when the server came to take our order he asked what we wanted. Seeing as though we’d booked afternoon tea I’m not sure why we needed a menu and to be asked, we thought he was perhaps just being nice and giving us a choice but then he asked if we wanted any add ons. We said no and ordered our cocktail, we chose a pina colada. It came and was the worst one we’ve ever had. It looked lovely but it was so weak and tasted just like coconut water. I couldn’t taste any Malibu rum or pineapple and it was full of ice like a frozen drink. I was expecting a creamy texture or just watery but at least with some flavour! I actually left half which I never do! The afternoon tea arrived, it was really nice with fresh food. The battenburg looked like a mini mr Kipling cut in half but it was all very tasty. After eating all the sandwiches we were still waiting for our cup of tea. We wondered if our prebooked meal included tea as our server actually never mentioned it. We looked around, everyone else with a three tier stand had tea. No one ever came to our table to check on us. Our meal was booked for 2pm. It was 2:45pm when we actually had to wave a waiter down to ask if we had tea included, he then replied yes and gave us a menu to choose! No sorry or explanation as to why we were still waiting for it. Why this was not asked in the beginning I don’t know why. If we hadn’t said we wouldn’t have got any. It still took another good ten minutes to pour some tea in a pot, we watched them behind the bar. We were offered no refills. Finally, we enjoyed the rest of our cakes but when it came to paying our bill once again we were left waiting 20 minutes, until we could manage to get someone’s attention. Overall it was a nice looking place but service leaves a lot to be desired, afternoon tea is a big deal here, surely it’s standard to give your customers tea on arrival, service with a smile wouldn’t hurt either! Honestly, was a little disappointed.
