Jackson + Rye - Guildford

Ordered a meal without hollandaise sauce, it came covered in it, I ordered a dish with bacon listed as the first ingredient, only had one tiny bit of streaky! Had a lot of promise, but didn't deliver

Arrived to an empty restaurant for 5pm booking only to be put at back of restaurant facing the wall. Had to ask for different table which was hard to find in empty place. Food tepid, service ok, nothing special....Careful of built in service charge....

Excellence food, service excellent. Would of preferred to tip waitress myself rather than the optional service charge being added. Watch out for that extra charge!!!!.

Enjoyable evening. Friendly atmosphere. Well seasoned American-inspired menu. Genorous portion sizes. Efficient service. Would prefer wine to be served more chilled in conventional wine glasses.

The Food was good and not bad value. Still has that new restaurant feel about it in terms of organisation. Have to wonder why the toilet are on the 3rd floor though when the bar/restaurant is on the ground...

Very disappointing, starters came out with the main course, salad came out 20 minutes after and had to go back twice, steak was not cooked how we asked and went back. Valentines Day and we didn't eat our meals together! Very Romantic! Wasn't even that busy

Great atmosphere, service and food. Staff were attentive. Food was of good quality with varied choice and the atmosphere and ambience made for a great night.

The service was very fast and the food was tasty. The steak was cooked perfectly and wasn't chewy at all. Would definitely go again as the price wasn't bad either.

Very friendly service and delicious food. I can say as an American that the pulled pork sandwich and ribs were very authentic, apart from the pickles in the pulled pork and slaw. Desserts were also delicious.

It was my first visit but it was so cold and even though the fans were turned off it was freezing, the food was nice but the staff weren't very attentive. There was no atmosphere even though the music was good (too loud for an eatery) . I'm not sure if I will return although I am booked for a group night out in March but will think about it nearer the time.

Great place to go food 100% would go again love the service stakes were the best we had in a while even pudding were great

Food was good, service really slow. Would go back again another day though because brunch pancakes were really good. Need more maple syrup though too.

Food was very tasty, had some burned chips to begin with, but that was easily swapped and changed for me. Would recommend to friends. And would go again.

Food great! Kind staff, good variety of nice food, fairly priced. Very slow at bringing the bill and toilet had run out of loo roll.

We were directed to a table in the middle of the through-route/bar area. This was unacceptable as sitting behind people standing at the bar would have been unpleasant and conversation would have been very difficult. I asked for a different table but they could not offer an alternative. I do not believe they should be offering this unacceptable table to anyone, it shows a contempt for the customer.

Nice welcome, clean and good service. Lovely steaks and chips. Loved the green slaw too. Also had brunch here which was great . Would recommend

We had booked a table for five but were seated at a table for four with an extra chair placed at one end, which wasn't what I was expecting, especially as the restaurant wasn't full. Service was friendly but the food took a long time to arrive and the sweet potato fries didn't come at all. The steak was excellent but the prawn linguine was a bit tasteless. We were given free drinks to compensate for our disappointments and overall I think I would give them another chance to impress me.

Brilliant new restaurant in Guildford. Very convenient for pre-show eating near GLive. Would definitely eat there again. Service was very good and interesting flavours to the food.

I usually love JR but this time the food was mediocre, the buffalo wings were terrible, really poor quality chicken, we had 2 & had to leave the rest of the portion!

We had sour bread to start but then waited an hour an five minutes to get our mains. When the food did arrive, the steak was terrible and all the food was cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen. It then took a further 25 mins to cook our new mains which we appreciated. However, when the meals arrived my steak came without any accompaniments, it was just a steak on a plate; we waited a further 7 mins for me to get my fries, peppercorn sauce and broccoli (which unfortunately was very overcooked). Nethertheless, the service from the front of house was very good and didn't charge us for the drinks or sides as they empathised with the problems we endured.

Very expensive for what it is. Music too loud. Lack of atmosphere. Table for 3 was far too small for us - it would have been ok for two. Food mediocre - particularly my son's burger which was a rip off for the price and the pork ribs were underdone. The restaurant is very stylish and the service was good but the food and pricing was very disappointing. We would not choose to visit again.

A great replacement for McDonalds! Food is great, most items on the menu anyway - avoid the Shrimp burger but the meat is fab Service friendly

Poor service. Table for 5 and a baby, specifically phoned to ask for room for buggy yet the table didn't have room when arrived. One dinner was not ordered and instead of apologising the waiter just added it on then disappeared. Manager was apologetic but it didn't arrive until everyone else had finished. They were busy and couldn't handle it.

Great burgers and friendly staff. Like the booth tables. A little disappointed it was brunch menu only until 430pm, but otherwise good meal. Would go again.

Great service and atmosphere!The 6 large shrimp starter was maybe a little over priced but the mains cost what you'd expect and you get a proper big portion! Nice to be able to get a different selection of beers you can't really get elsewhere (love a Samuel Adams!) All in all a good evening out!

Nice atmosphere and great Southern Chicken as well as steak. Not cheap but this is upmarket American BBQ and classics so worth it. Good Service.

Below average food, poor lighting and atmosphere, staff nice but not very well trained. All in all a very mediocre experience and We won't bother going back.

Excellent service and varied menu for brunch. Food was a bit cold when brought but the manager was apologetic and refunded the cost. I would definitely return.

The waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing, most of them ignored us when we tried to ask them something and you need to ask your patrons how they would like their burgers! I was so hungry I ate mine even though it came out pink in the middle. This is unacceptable and I do not understand why burgers are now being served this way.

Terrible service..sat down at 7, took over an hour for our main to arrive (we didn't order starters) then desert took 40 mins. It was 9:10 when it eventually arrived. Main course was also lukewarm at best

Sweet potatoes chips x two were cold. Had to chase the replacement and they were also barely warm. Was not offered apology or voucher etc so deducted service charge and gave small cash tip to waitress. Food not fantastic probably wouldn't bother again. Shame nice decor and music

Its was fine, just a nice burger, good dessert, service good but not sure about table as right next to entrance to kitchen very busy! Also lights dimmed later on and could hardly see the food.

Amazing food and service couldn't recommend it highly enough! The portions were huge but everything was delicious and they also had great cocktails and beers!

Really good - we all enjoyed. Only criticism is that the amount of olives we got for the nibbles was pretty small for the price.

Fab service, friendly staff. The only reason the score is not higher is that the soup (which half of us ordered) was out of stock and they had ran out of vanilla ice cream, both by 12.30pm on a Monday which seemed a bit odd!

Second visit and just as enjoyable ! Chicken wings, too big as a starter but tasty. Ribs a little dry. Prawn linguini very good. Swordfish good. Interesting American beer choices. Give it a go!

This is an absolutely fantastic restaurant. 5 Star cheerful efficient service. Steak and eggs top class. Hot crisp chips. Capucino used good quality coffee. And I am fussy about coffee. 5 of us had Saturday lunch on 21 Jan 2017 and left delighted.

Terrible food, all over cooked, bland meat, dog end chips, over priced. Very poor. Very disappointed. The starters are tiny and very sub standard. Didn't even attempt desert!

Amazing meat. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Walking into Jackson and Rye is like walking into a different era. Lovely music and lighting. Friendly staff showed us to our table. Menu includes loads of original items - nice for a change. Ordered the BBQ board but my eyes were too big for my stomach. Amazing ribs, nice spicy chicken wings and peppery steak. Coleslaw was good for mellowing down the spice! Nice lagers to choose from on the menu. Not too expensive considering the quality and taste of the food.

Excellent food and service. My wife ordered ribs and she complained because the one rib wasn't big enough, the manager agreed and gave us another. Everything else was great. Will come again. Mark

Excellent friendly service, good food and comfortable atmosphere. Very pleased with the world beer selection, especially the Boston Lager and the unfiltered 2 pint jug.

We went as a party of 6 and had a lovely time. It was my sons 14th birthday and was ideal. The food was great even though we had a few special requests (dairy free, gluten free and vegan!). The service was good and the music was great. Shame they don't have a playlist on Spotify!
