Good pancakes. Small coffee. Nice ambience and friendly staff. Would go again for lunch instead maybe. Looks like there is more choice for lunch or dinner.
Empty restaurant however they still managed to forget parts of our order. Food was ok, but too expensive for what you get. Zero atmosphere, although it was 6pm pre theatre dining.
This was my first time here and i wont be visiting again prices were through the roof infact astronomical for what you get i didbt even get a salad or any extras with my ribeye steak. Also the beer i had wasnt even a pint was a 330ml bottle for round 5 pound which i thought was ridiculous
Great service and Great food. Waitress was lovely and got us all we needed. Never had to wait anymore than 5 minutes for anything and everything we got was of a good quality. Excellent pancakes 🥞 😋🤤 Overall a great meal
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal at this restaurant. The food was well presented and tasty A nice atmosphere with good customer service .Will definitely be returning.
We have eaten here about four times and each time there have been a number of items on the menu unavailable either a choice from the menu or one of the ingredients if this is sorted out then it would be a five.
The menu was varied. All of the party had the Farmers breakfast. Each though that the bacon was extremely fatty with little meat. Eggs were good . Sausage patty was only just warm in fact each meal was not just cooked hot.
Great food, courteous staff, great beer and spirits, what else can you ask for. Decor is swanky, love the finishing touches, even the gents was pretty cool!!
Went on a Saturday night,Very hot restaurant as air con didn't work, food was very average but staff were attentive. Not sure we'll rush back as it was nothing special.
Had a lovely evening, very tasty food. Good service, would go again. The meal was a treat for my sister's birthday. Enjoyed by both of us.
Loved the Venue, good music, good service, lovely food all in all a good evening out , would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back.
This is the first time we have eaten here in the evening . ( breakfast is fantastic ) As usual the staff are friendly the service is prompt and the food was excellent
We booked to go on a Saturday evening. The food as really nice and the service good. Our only gripe was the very tiny beer list. Will definitely revisit.
The food was ok but not the best we have had in there. Pancakes not 'light and fluffy' but tasted nice. The coffee was nice but the typical American 'free refills' would be a welcome addition, in keeping with their American style.
Good service, good food and pram friendly. Portion sizes were good. Great menu for those that enjoy American food. The Boston bean sauce could have been a little thicker.
Drinks slow to arrive. Thought steak was expensive as only came with chips and nothing else although good flavour. Only average value for money, tip already calculated @ 12% and added to bill.
Not my type of place sorry, plastic . Chicken very dry though friend's salmon nice . Monday so very quiet and staff not overly attentive
We went for brunch had a lovely meal - unfortunately no-one else in there so lacked atmosphere. No-one's fault. Staff were great - will definitely go back for an evening meal.
Food and service were excellent. We will definitely return. Thank you for making my birthday meal out memorable. The atmosphere was good and the service was polite, friendly and fast.
Definitely my favourite restaurant in Guildford and an excellent place to get great bourbon cocktails. Staff are lovely, always really attentive, but leave you to enjoy your meal too. Love the food, good portion sizes and the desserts are fantastic. Always a lovely eating-out experience.
Service was a bit slow and it took about 20 mins for our drinks to arrive and getting on for an hour for food, but this was a busy Father's Day brunch so it's understandable. Food was fantastic though and the staff were apologetic for the wait. Best breakfast in Guildford.
Good restaurant with nice table layout. Ask for a booth. Great choice of foot on the menu and the staff are cheerful and pleasant. Good choice on set lunch menu.
The restaurant had no air conditioning the staff where hot and slow , We were so uncomfortable Also the food was cold and chips were not cooked though . we have been before and all was Ok ...This time it was not good and a waste of our time and money as it was Fathers day .
This was my first visit to Jackson and Rye We went for breakfast, food was amazing... slightly on the pricey side but well worth it I highly recommend
They prepared 2 meals incorrectly and then the burger we ordered was burnt. The portion sizes were quite frankly embarrassing - so small (we do not have excessive appetites) and presentation was basic, to say the least.Disappointing recompense offered also, we will not go back ever ; nor would we recommend this place to anyone.
Tasty food. However lack of selection on brunch menu for a) kids e.g. Kids portion of pancakes b) non savoury e.g. Yoghurt and fruit, etc
Expensive for the quality of food. Chips weren't very nice at all. Atmosphere not as unique as the hype.possibly due to it being midweek and Guildford being more restrained than London locations.
Great friendly service! Love this place. Staff, food and drink were excellent as always. We will definitely be back for more bourbon and rye whiskeys .
We went on a Sunday evening and it was so disappointing. 25% of the starters were not available (guess which we wanted! We were not told till we ordered), of the 3 steaks on the menu 1 was completely out of stock, and the other was only available in the large size. Then we tried to order a side (spinach)......oh, sorry, that's not available either. Luckily our first choice dessert was available and was pretty good! We both got the fillet steak, asked for them to be cooked medium, as you do.....1 out of 2 wasn't bad I guess.....mine was so well done it could have been served in an urn and a cricket match played for the right to keep it for a couple of years.....my wife's, well that was more like medium :). I told the waitress to just report it to the kitchen, I didn't want to wait for another to be cooked....plus they didn't have much stock as it was! The bill came and no attempt was made to say sorry for the ashes, I did the very English thing of saying nothing about the "discretionary" 12.5% tip added to the bill and paid up. To be fair, steak aside, it was a decent enough meal.....just would like to have been able to have a full menu to choose from
Staff were very friendly but service wasn't that great (think they were just very busy though!) and it was quite expensive for what it was
Poor service and food was twice the price of a harvester and not even as good quality. I had been to the london branch previously and was impressed. The guildford branch does not compare.
We went to Jackson + Rye for an early dinner. The appetizers, including corn dogs and jumbo shrimp, were fantastic. For the main though, we split a BBQ platter, and it was all very dry, as if it had been cooked, colled, and then reheated. The atmosphere was nice, and service was good, but if we went again, I would just get a burger and salad, and stay away from the ribs, brisket and chicken wings!
This was our second family trip to Jackson and Rye, and I am very pleased to say it was an even better experience than before- once again, the atmosphere was striking (reminded me of The Ivy, with an Art Deco/American Retro feel) and the curved booth was roomy and lovely soft leather, with a beautiful view of the bar across the room. The servers were genuinely friendly, attentive, and knew their allergen information, which is always a plus. The food came out really quickly- mini corn dogs were (again) a big hit with the kids, the truffle hush puppies were tasty if a little bland- maybe some horseradish or spicy dipping sauce rather than mayonnaise? But in any case, the entrees were delicious- a huge plate of smoky ribs for Mr S, fried chicken with salty sweet potato fries, and some really zingy spicy coleslaw. The littlest one had macaroni and cheese which she loved, and although the creamed spinach wasn't exactly the creamy, bechamel-based concoction one is used to here in the UK, it is more similar to what one often gets in the States- a rich, buttery cream sauce with spinach marinating in it. We didn't have time for desserts, which is a shame because the apple beignettes sounded amazing. Their mint julep is the perfect mix of slushy ice and mint, the best this side of the pond. Mr S tried the WhistlePig Rye and pronounced it lovely and mellow and, indeed, a hint of bubblegum, just as described. The music was not too loud, and a fun mix of classic rock/country pop style tunes. The other diners were a good mix of all ages. All in all a really relaxing and satisfying evening. I think it will be a lunch staple for us when we come to Guildford on the weekends.
Went on a Sunday lunchtime and received great service. Had the pulled pork bun which came with chips and a spicy coleslaw! All delicious. Dessert menu was very tempting but resisted! Reasonably priced. Only complaint was that there was no cider but forgivable as it's an American restaurant! Would return.
Staff attentive, however food arrived lukewarm. When we brought this to the attention of the duty manager we were simply told that he'd bring this to the attention of the kitchen. Not good enough I'm afraid. Didn't push the point any further just won't be returning.
Food and service was good, only downside to my visit was the 12.5% service charge! I always leave a tip but not as much as that!
You asked for a rating which a gave you a 6! But why force me to write something! I Feel like changing it to a 1 but that would be unfair on your staff!!!!
First visit - Rather disappointing overall - very slow service average food ,quite noisy not sure how soon we'll return given the quality of the alternates in guilford
Fantastic American style restaurant, nothing else like it in Guildford. I recommend the chicken wings to start, and the Dixie New Orleans beer with Whiskey chaser.
Went to J&R for my son's 19th birthday ... had a great time, service attentive and food delicious. Got there at 7.30pm and a couple of dishes not available - if full menu, would have given a 6 - feel 7.30pm is a bit early to not have all dishes on offer. Would definitely go again.
Had a lovely meal with friends although service could have been better - our friends drink order was completely forgotten. Also, gluten free options could be better. As a coeliac I was a bit concerned that nobody really knew what was gluten free and what wasn't. Other than those things, food was yummy & worth the price!
Our third visit and certainly not our last, the food and service here has always been amazing and it's my new favourite place to eat!!
Great food but very average / confused service. Our prebooked table wasn't ready for fifteen mins when we arrived, we were told to sit in the bar (nowhere to sit in the bar available). Drinks with dinner came 10 mins after dinner arrived. Drinks for dessert arrived after dessert was finished. Wouldn't go back to this branch which is sad as it's the nearest to us...
Quirky restaurant with friendly staff and excellent service. The food is of high quality and well presented. Great if you like American whiskey! Highly recommend
Service and staff were great. Food selection and menu was good and wines also. One of the mains (short rib) was mostly fat and we did mention this to the staff and the manager was kind enough to remove this item from the bill. Overall a good experience and good staff.
Started the evening with a couple of cocktails made by very friendly bar staff. No one rushed us to our table so lovely start to a very chilled meal. Food was great, service excellent.
Attention to detail lacking with service - additional butter requested, never turned up. Popcorn chicken was tasty but tiny. Burger ordered with no sauce and came out with sauce on it, one of the main courses out of three delayed by few minutes meaning others' meals went cold, food was tasty enough but at £14+ for a bacon and cheeseburger, it should be. Totally underwhelming.
The food was really good and the service was quick. I will definitely be going back and would happily recommend this place to absolutely anyone.
We had fantastic food with very good service. The steaks were excellent and cooked perfectly to our liking. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.
Friendly staff who recommend cocktails to suit your taste that weren't on the menu. Always quality food, large portions! The restaurant setting and decor is beautiful. Good for date night
