Afternoon tea groupon offer. Staff really lovely. Views absolutely amazing!
Lovely setting with great food and friendly helpful staff 👍
Food was lovely as always, afternoon tea is always amazing and a great present for someone eg mum or friends birthday, but when we went took about an hour and when we asked why it was taking so long they said they had a big party and needed to serve them before us.
Views are amazing! Staff are very friendly. Only downside, my 9yr old daughter had the fish goujons from the kids menu and found 6 massive fish bones in them, not ideal on a kids menu when younger diners could easily have choked. Food though, apart from the bones, was delicious
We went for mothers day, very friendly staff, great food.
Unique and yummy afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon. Was busy and pretty noisy, understandably. Great views of the river from the back of the venue. Worth booking a table in advance and requesting that.
Lovely place. Afternoon tea was fab! Service was spot on!
This is my 5th visit, took family members for their first visit and they loved it! As always amazing service and the afternoon tea was to die for! Had fabulous seats overlooking the river and the views are spectacular. Look forward to our next visit.
Food was ok but quite greasy and it was very loud and rowdy unfortunately. Couldn’t just sit and relax
Average after noon tea, not a patch on other places. Waited a long time for food and then didn't have any choice on sandwiches, location and view excellent.
Great customer service from the 2 gentleman at the front, from the moment we got greeted to the moment we left the restaurant. Thank you.
Friendly staff and good service very busy on this visit but side room overlooking Quayside quiet enough to enjoy our meals will visit again in near future
The sandwiches were soldier like and parts stale. and very small portioned compared to other places. Little choice and desserts were very basic. Staff were very pleasant.
the service was very poor, far too slow, and I felt even though we had booked a table for 7 we were pushed into a booth type table suitable for 5 persons (2 on one side and 3 on the other) and not in the main room which I had hoped for with having 3 under 14s with us
Lovely staff, but freezing colds no heating . Food ok but old salad and our desert sticky toffee pudding was not hot. Dissapointed and will not go back, shame because it’s a great location and lovely old pub but just not good enough.
Service was quick food was lovely had a special menu for discounted prices could choose 2/3 courses. Went over the new year for work night out.
We had a good time. H (my partner) has Alzheimer’s (with fits) and we’re making memories today was a good one. Thanks also for helping us leave quickly as H was in the beginning of a big fit. Bonus was a boat coming in.
LOVELY DECOR, NICE ATMOSPHERE. THE FOOD WAS REALLY NICE AND REASONABLY PRICED. COCKTAILS WERE LOVELY, ESPECIALLY THE MAD HATTER! THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT , WILL DEFINITELY RETURN .
I Went for Sunday lunch, the food was absolutely amazing, the service was good and they also have a great selection of gins and cocktails too, all reasonably priced, I’ll definitely be back
Lovely decor, slow service but they were training new staff on the day we went. Food nice but not amazing! Have been for afternoon tea which was much nicer than the normal meals.
How do you do looked inviting from the outside with a well presented foyer but the rest of the building was in poor state of repair, in need of some TLC, dusty areas, everywhere in need of a coat of paint and in toilet area skirting boards missing and builders equipment everywhere. We waited almost an hour for our meals and the Sunday lunch was delicious but the fish and chips poor at best. They did reduce our bill by 10% for our wait but definitely would not return or recommend to friends or family.
Nice food poor service. Offered more tea but didn’t bring it. We asked if we could have tuna sandwiches but none were. Tasted nice but poor staff
Quirky, relaxed, pleasant and freindly staff and delicious treats all served with unlimited tea and coffee and a prosecco or cocktail. What more do you want except that someone special to share it with
Staff weren’t very welcoming or helpful. Food was lovely and it was well presented as were the drinks but they did forget about our drinks
Really nice cocktails and beautiful view. Very aesthetically pleasing afternoon tea including miniature bottles of pink lemonade, brownies, swirly lollies etc as well as scones and sandwiches. Food was lovely and fresh. Would definitely recommend for something different to do.
The food was nice, but not amazing. Limited menu with 3 items unavailable. Server was very pleasant and helpful. No Bacardi available at the bar. Also, on second visit to the bar no one was serving. Waited 5 minutes and gave up. Returned to bar later on and got served.
We all had a lovely time at How Do You Do, this restaurant has such a nice atmosphere and I highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I requested a table with a view over the fish quay which we were given, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. All five of us, three adults and two children enjoyed the Mad Hatters Tea Party with a selection of sandwiches, scones, cakes, cocktails/mocktails and unlimited tea and coffee. The only thing we were disappointed with was the size of portions, they were very small and thankfully we ordered a couple of portions of chips as an extra, which helped to fill the gap. However, we will definitely be back.
We had an amazing experience - delicious afternoon tea, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful location and really reasonably priced. We will definitely go back again!
We attended on a Sunday for Sunday lunch. The choice of food was good and there were 4 vegetarian options which was also good. The restaurant was busy and it was also noisy. Décor great. Staff friendly but not overly attentive.
We had to wait for almost an hour to be served our meal. The meal was nice, not wonderful but nice. Place was very loud.
Fabulous venue, views just lovely, food was very delicious. Highly recommend this place. Staff were very good. You won’t be disappointed. We had afternoon Tea
Great views. Quality food that was well presented, at a fair price, with friendly service. What’s not to like? A return visit will be made very soon.
Very overpriced for very very very little food. We had tasteless sandwiches, a couple of sweets and a bite size cake each. Definitely not worth the money
Great service, great food, & great views, what more could anyone ask for? Although it wasn’t on the menu & having eaten superb nut roast here before, the chef managed to rustle up some for me. That’s what I call service.
The menu itself had lots of options which included an early bird menu. The food was lovely and presented great! The service was fast. We were sat over looking a lovely view.
Enjoyed a Lovely Mad Hatters afternoon tea at How do you do! We had a lovely window seat to take advantage of the views, would recommend and will definitely return.
Excellent service in restaurant with amazing views. Food was also superb, I would not hesitate to come back again or recommend it to anyone else.
Something different quirky pub Alice in wonderland themed. Had afternoon tea finger sandwiches cake scones n cream with jam. Pink lemonade. Special treat. Overlooking the harbour at north shields Great views.
We didn't stay to eat as the menu on offer was nothing like the menu on their website. Very disappointed as it was a birthday meal out.
Food was excellent, especially the sticky toffee pudding which is the best I have had in a long time. I would have given this a 6 but was disappointed by the lack of variety of the menu when we arrived. There was no pan fried chicken on the main menu or rice pudding on the puddings as shown on the website menu. Service was also a little slow, we waited 45 minutes for our main course but I think that was due to the restaurant being so busy. Would definitely go back to this restaurant.
Love the quirky decor but the service was slow and the toilets were a disgrace! Place looks like it could do with a good clean and wallpaper hanging off walls is not a good look! Felt that food was overpriced too. Sadly won’t be going back.
Amazing food and service. Really consistent in the quality and presentation. Great variety on the menu and very good value for money. We’ve never been disappointed here and keep coming back.
The service was fast and the staff were always attentive. The afternoon tea was delicious and substantial. The cost was very reasonable. Will be coming back again and will recommend to others.
I really love this place - The venue is amazing, great service and the food is brilliant. It ticks every box so I would definitely recommend it!
Lovely meal, beautifully cooked mains and reasonably priced. Sweets were nice too but sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie would have been better served hot. Nice atmosphere and staff very friendly and accommodating. Thanks again - we'll be back!
A disappointing experience, dirty toilets, smelly hall, dry sandwiches, stale cake & scones . Jam served in plastic packets, had to keep asking for a cup of tea/coffee. Serving staff uninterested, only 6 people in the restaurant! we left & went to eat elsewhere.
Food was lovely...... however the service needs to be worked on after arriving having a table already booked we were told we would have to wait to be seated which was fine but the way we were told this wasn’t very welcoming! When mains came out we had no knife and folk we had to ask and waited 5 min to receive them with or mains getting cold....ordered a glass of wine waited 10mins to receive that think she forget! The other staff seamed very friendly maybe the person serving us was having an off day.....
Great food but room was cold Needs more heating Excellent cocktails The shin of beef was extremely good Shame that not everything on the menu was available even though it was only 1830
Lovely service and amazing food. The food is brilliantly priced and delicious. The cocktails were amazing and ok priced. No long waits in-between meals and it was a Saturday afternoon Thank you
Great food, lovely staff and unbelievable views! Nice looks too! Gluten free options available & no problem. Can recommend the leek & potatoe soup and the haddock fish & chips.
