If you like your currie fiery in traditional vindaloo style then this might not be for you.If you appreciate true flavours that are not masked with overkill of chilli then this will delight you.Good portion size and melt in mouth meat with cheerful service a recipe for the perfect dining experience will definitely return.
The food was excellent. My wife and I both had Nepalese starter and main course. All four dishes were delicious and nicely presented. Slight criticisms Are, starter took a long time to be served and staff could have been friendlier. Overall, a very good experience and I would recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic food and service. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Lamb, chicken and shrimp were all tender and succulent.
Booked last minute and were lucky to get a table! Had a fantastic meal, great food and good beer. Can highly recommend the Gurkha for a meal!
A lovely authentic meal, 6 of us all had a different dish, each commented on how lovely the meals were, staff are very friendly and help you through the menu. We would definitely return.
Great food. Hit as we asked for it, but not at the sacrifice of taste. Friendly service and lively atmosphere. Good value for money too.
Excellent food friendly staff and good service. always enjoy this restaurant and visit as often as I can. Busy on a Saturday but managed to fit us in.
We were a party of six, we all had excellent food, some of the best Indian dishes we have ever had. The service was outstanding. Will certainly come again.
Excellent food. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. A good choice of options from the traditional to more subtle flavours. I would recommend that you book in advance.
Great Nepalese food, service excellent. We always may it a point to stop here when we are in Edinburgh. The price is reasonable for the quality of food.
Now been to the Gurkha Cafe several times. We have never been disappointed, the food is excellent with a service to match. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good, authentic Indian and Nepalese food.
Pleasant experience, not too busy on the Sunday evening. Service was polite and unfussy. Choice of food was reasonable, decently presented and was really tasty. Decor was somewhat rustic but in keeping with the Napalese theme. Well worth a visit in such a central location.
We enjoyed our meal but to say the sag was different would be true not what I was expecting but the only way to learn is to experiment
Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Atmosphere very relaxed and all staff very professional and pleasant. Everyone’s food was excellent in taste and presentation and portion size just right.
Lovely food, great service, great vlaue reasonable prices. Only small negative our table akthough beside a heater was cold as you got a draught when customers come in. Id have a table further back next time.
Food was excellent and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The chicken and lamb were really rich and the meat very tender. Worth a try if in the centre of edinburgh
We often go to Gurkka as it is one of out favourite Indians in Edinburgh. The food is lovely and the staff are always friendly. Highly recommended
The food was amazing, best tikka masala I have had since I moved back up to Scotland. Had been searching for somewhere that matched the ones down in England and I have found it! Absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely and attentive. Will most definately be coming back! Thank you Ruth
Fantastic meal aging and great service. Gurkha cafe have never disappointed me for quality food and service. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good meal
Sehr gutes Essen, alles fein würzig und von guter Qualität. Freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Bei jedem unserer Besuche von Edinburgh essen wir im Gurkha. Wir können das Restaurant sehr empfehlen.
Great food fantastic service. Smells wonderful when you walk in.got a table for 11 no problem and no issue when 8 were 30 minutes late.
Lovely restaurant, friendly service. It's not the cheapest restaurant in the world but food was extremely good and well presented. I would go back !
Nice ambiance in the restaurant. Service was fine, no rush and the waiter asked if we were ready for the main courses before it was served. Food was well presented and tasty, will visit again. Try the dumplings for starters.....
Food was amazing service was excellent will return very sòon we had a great night and very close to the train station all round great place
Lovely birthday meal food was excellent and the cocktails . Good service and lovely and relaxing . I would recommend the mo mos. they were amazing
Food was great but table was late and there is no waiting area so you are standing amongst other diners eating there evening meals. It is a little uncomfortable
I went with my dad and he is never easy to please but the quality of the food was so good and definitely a bargain! and the staff were really lovely and attentive
Amazing as ever. Best Indian food in town. For 3 consecutive years Ghurka‘s is our favourite restaurant. Keep on the good work guys we are your biggest fans.
Great meal on Saturday night during Edinburgh Fringe. Waiters very helpful & happy to explain what was in some dishes. Although lots of people were trying to get tables without having booked, we did not feel rushed to leave. First visit but will definitely be back.
Unassuming restaurant but the food is wonderful. Decently priced for Edinburgh and worth every penny for the quality of the food. Friendly service too. Recommend the dumplings.
We visited this restaurant three years ago when we were at the festival. We enjoyed our meal then and were delighted to find the restaurant again during this year's trip. The food is excellent.
The food was good but the staff was ridiculously rude. I won't come bank or recommend it to any of my friends. It is a shame because the menu is interesting.
All four of us enjoyed our meal - it was excellent particularly the lamb starter with traditional Nepalese herbs and spices! Service was very good. All positive!
Lovely service, atmosphere and freshly prepared food. Authentic Nepalese dishes. Great for veggies and meat lovers too and caters for people who like varying degrees of chillie and spice. We always visit the Guka Cafe whenever we are in Edinburgh, usually at festival times me. It's a good spot to rest up between events. We love it!
The food was great and services lovely we all enjoyed and will be going back again this year . Christmas market and Edinburgh tattoo next week
Very nice surroundings. Staff very attentive and courteous. The menu has a good variety, and prices are reasonable. Most importantly, the food is delicious. Will definitely return.
The place is really lovely and the food exquisite. Only the service has room for improvement - quite expeditious and the staff a bit cold.
We had a very nice diner at Gurkha - good food, excellent taste, and also the service was very good. Really a restaurant to recommend to other people !
I thought the menu seemed smaller than normal as I couldn't see some of the items on the menu which I'd previously ordered. However, the service was very good and the apricot naans were to die for!
Nice atmosphere, courteous people, excellent service. Should be highly recommended to come with family and friends. There was not a single shortcoming to mention. All the best for the restaurant
It has been a very nice place, friendly staff and the best: the authentic indian food! We have enjoyed it in a group of five and will come back!
Love this place. 2nd visit. Fantastic food, and lovely, friendly, attentive staff. Couldn't ask for more. Even brought me out a free dessert, and all the staff came to sing happy birthday to me.
Excellent food and great service. Restaurant was very quaint, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. King prawns were delicious.
Everything was delicious, but the price of extra rice added up quickly and we ended up spending more then we'd intended. My cocktail was tasty as well.
The food was amazing, there was a lot of choice, the prices are really correct, the staff was really nice and the dining room is wonderful!
Doesn't look that much from the outside but is bigger than you think. More importantly, the food was very good as was the service. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would be happy to return.
Great restaurant in centre of Edinburgh. Even though the Edinburgh Festival was on and everywhere was heaving (including Gurkha Cafe) they welcomed us with a smile and showed us straight to our table. Service and food excellent throughout.
Very polite attentive staff and the best curry I've ever had! A must visit place to experience if ever visiting Edinburgh. Nothing more to say
Food was very nice. The inside is quite better than expected based on the look from the outside. However, friendliness of service should be improved to make the experience even better.
Food was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall we were very happy and our dishes and drinks were all quite good. 23 24 25
