Good atmosphere. Friendly service with well presented tasty food - menu slightly different from regular Indian. Nepalese dishes well worth trying. Restaurant centrally placed, easy to get to.
Excellent as always. Cannot vault the food. Relaxed atmosphere. Great value for money.
Excellent food and Service. We highly recommend to anyone. Tried several of their top competitors and found their overall product to be above the rest.
Had a great meal at Gurkha - went for the Nepalese dishes on the menu & we were not disappointed. Also enjoyed the Gurkha lager.
Best curry in Edinburgh. Been a whilst for years and the staff are delightful. I always get the Bhot Ko Chelu and I recommend you do too!
the meal was very delicious, they have a good variety of drinks and there are working lovely people. we definitely recommend this restaurant. thanks for having us.
The meal was amazing, very tasty and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be going back again.
The Restaurant does not very inviting from the outside however inside it is really lovely and comfortable. The service staff is really friendly and the food is just amazing, it is definately woth a visit!
Fantastic food, great atmosphere and service and ridiculously reasonable prices. This restaurant is an absolute find in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Try the Nepalese potato salad as a side - utterly delicious. I have no hesitation in recommending The Gurkha Cafe 100%.
Amazing food, the butter chicken was especially good. Service was great. My husband loved the special chicken with dal. We both enjoyed the naan bread. Would definitely recommend.
Staff ever so helpful and food excellent with mixed starters a great kick off. Gurkha beer also highly recommended. Restaurant in heart of city centre and next to Waverley station.
Been to indian restaurants all over the world. This is the best. Excellent sauces. Curries and the best nans.. The starters we had were great too
This was a first visit and the restaurant created a very positive impression. A warm welcome; an interesting and varied menu which appealed to all of us in the party. The dishes were nicely presented and were full of flavour and enjoyed without question. Service was very attentive without being intrusive. A touch more expensive than I imagined - but no real concern there.
Delicious food and attentive service. Restaurant was a little cold though, maybe because we were there bang on opening time. Would still go back. Recommended!
We had a great experience at Ghurka cafe & restaurant. Really nice and helpful staff. We’re big fans of Indian curry houses and now big fans of the Nepal influence. Beautiful food and we will definitely be back the next time we’re in Edinburgh. Best meal we had all trip.
Excellent food as always. Friendly staff and a swift service. The restaurant is rather simple but it is compensated by all the rest. Really nice.
Great food in a friendly and unfussy restaurant. Menu has some different choices to what you get elsewhere so ideal if you want to try something new.
Easy to find and when we entered we given a choice of tables. Menu in comparison to other Indian restaurants was small (thankfully) we both chose to eat and try the Nepalese dishes which looked stunning and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
Lovely food and great service would recommend this restaurant to others 😊 Nice atmosphere in the restaurant too, great place to catch up with old friends
This was our first visit to the Gurkha Cafe and we will definitely be returning. Gorgeous food and authentic atmosphere. The staff were very attentive. Good menu for vegetarians too.
The food is fantastic, had me craving to go back the next day! You won’t be disappointed! Highly recommend
Good food, and a lovely place. The only thing about this particular visit was that the vegetable momos were falling apart when it came out.
Food is superb, not your usual dayglo sauces that most Indian restaurants serve up. Surroundings are a bit on the rustic side but we will definitely be back again.
Always delicious. Our favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. Friendly service. Lamb choila and karahi curry are the best you’ll find in the city. Excellent value for money.
The food was delicious - very fresh- chose medium dish as thought mild would be too mild. However it was very spicy -would definitely go back. Generous portions - Service efficient.
The food was nice and flavoursome. The Nepalese touch takes it above the normal fare you get in the average Indian restaurant. The staff were friendly too.
Excellent food in a cosy restaurant, I would highly recommend it. There's a good selection of vegetarian food and the staff were really lovely as well.
Best tikka masala in Edinburgh - especially if you ask it to be spicy! Good portions too
Lovely food, lovely service just what you need when eating out! I wanted to try the Pangasius Fish which was cooked in the clay oven. It was delicious 👍
I would highly recommend this Indian restaurant, the food is wonderful as always and staff friendly and attentive. One of the better ones in Edinburgh and decent value for money.
Great Food, Great atmosphere and great staff, what more could you want. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh but would advise you to book if you want to go
Good atmospher and service, but I chose the wrong thing on the menu I think for the main course which lacked taste and was therefore bland. Also the starter was a bit of a con.
As ever great food with a clear explanation of menue and foods from staff if unsure. service very friendly and excallent value for money. See you soon.
Best Indian ever. Staff so attentive and reasonably priced. Mo mo dumplings were so so good. First time ever having Nepalese beer and Indian red wine. Main courses really good as well. Don’t try anywhere else, just come here
Food was delicious. Generous portions and the serving staff were attentive and polite. Would highly recommend and will definitely return on my next stay in Edinburgh.
Never fails to deliver any then less than fist class food and service. Been going for years and never had even a hint of a negative experience.
I have used Gurkha Café in the past and been pleased with the food and the staff, in fact the experience generally. This visit was on a Sunday night and the prices seemed really high. £14 for a meat curry and £3 for rice to go with it. The food was good but there was far too much of it and it was too expensive. Smaller portions and a smaller price please.
Brilliant meal infused with light flavouring, staff were excellent as well. Brilliant location to explore the rest of the city and we got parked right outside the restaurant
Good food served by friendly helpful staff in clean relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit Advise to book as peopel being turned away from 730
The food was outstanding with great friendly service. It was a really local feel for a city centre restaurant. Would highly recommend the Chicken mo mo starter!
Food was delicious, big portion sizes, the restaurant nice, clean and cosy. Background music and the other guests were VERY quiet and sometimes it felt like everyone was listening to me and my friends chatting. Still a wonderful evening - we will be back an can definitely recommend!
Great service and food good but could be better. Indian Restaurants need to stop catering for the masses and provide good authentic food. We love Indian food and have lived in Indian and cooked all different types of recipes from scratch, using Asian ingredients. But, we would possibly come again.
Great restaurant, good food, although the Jalfrezi was nowhere a hot as it's been in the past. It was practically mild which was a shame.
Beautiful food. The lamb is superb will defo be back again. Its hidden away but id recommend finding it and enjoying a lovely meal in a relaxing enviorment
This is my favourite restaurant for Nepalese food. Just wonderful! Ambience is relaxed and friendly. Prices very reasonable. The quality of the food is exceptional.
great food and value for money..cant wait to go again
delicious food as always..great value for money...cant wait to return
I have now lost count of the times we have been to Gurkha Cafe. It is always delicious always consistent. This time we were with friends visiting from Somerset. It was busy, that did not detract from service and quality, no food left on our plates. Thank you again, you now have two more fans
The food was lovely as usual and the staff are friendly and efficient. I had the lamb madras which was excellent but, be warned, it is very hot.
