The whole experience was the best experience I've ever received, the service was absolutely perfect, and the food was out of this world, definitely will be recommending.
I had an awesome time!! The food is really good and tasty; the staff nice and friendly. You feel like you are in a totally different atmosphere when there!
Very good and tssty food. Children menu ideally for children who are not too much used to spicy food. Quick effective and nice waiters. Highly recommended.
Outstanding food. The lamb was to die for. Great nepalese beer too. Nice atmosphere and a good level of service. Left with a big smile on my face.
Another excellent meal with superb service from attentive staff. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, been there several times and never been disappointed. Thank you once again... The Jones family.
Really nice food, all cooked very fresh. Had to wait a while but it's justified given everything is cooked so fresh. It's not cheap so not for everyday, but it's worth it as a treat.
The Gurkha is a great restaurant with excellent food and service, we have been here three time and have enjoyed each time we have gone here!
Nice place. Excellent food. A bit noisy but welcoming. Fair prices on wines and drinks. We recommend it for lunch and dinner. Couples or with family.
I had my 60th birthday meal at the Gurkha restaurant and had a lovely evening. A complimentary cocktail was a nice surprise and our sweet was served with a message on plate. Food was superb, overall a lovely experience.
Food was excellent - attractive down to earth decor - restaurant very busy so service a bit slow - menu offers good range of choice - Everest beer on draught is very drinkable - overall we recommend and will go there again.
Food was lovely but service a bit off the boil but would happily return to eat here, to give the restaurant the chance of getting the maximum score
Very tasty indian food. Pleasant, friendly and efficient service. Well worth trying if you are looking for a good indian restaurant in that part of Town.
Great restaurant, good food and great service, would recommend it... Good setting and the location is really good as its in the centre of town..
Food was good, however we were seated at table with 4 chairs as we were a party of 3 we sat were we thought would be comfortable and were asked to move from chair to alllow access for staff to move about, we were not too impressed with this, have been here before and the food is always good, but they shouldn't rest on their laurels
The food was very tasty and plentiful. The chicken was cooked perfectly which was a nice change from other Indians I've had. Took the leftovers away in a doggy bag and enjoyed it again the following night!
A fabulous little restaurant that we've now visited twice. The menu is quite different from the "usual" fare in a "normal" curry place and is all the better for it. One of the sauces you get with the poppadoms is incredible and that sets you up nicely. The food is beautiful and as we are one carnivore and one vegetarian we can vouch for both dietary options. A final shout out to the staff who are very good indeed.
Nice traditional restaurant, delicious food, great atmosphere & lovely staff. We really enjoyed celebrating our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary there! Will definitely return if we come back to Edinburgh.
This was our second time at the Gurkha, and with the food as good as it is, we will certainly be returning in the future.
Great food and relaxed atmosphere. Staff very attentive but perhaps too much as dishes were cleared too quickly before everyone was finished. Made us feel rushed.
The food was fantastic! The service was excellent. The atmosphere was lovely, and we really enjoyed the restaurant. We had delicious chicken, rice, and naan.
The kitchen was experiencing technical problems but still honoured our booking. We were there with friends from NY - one vegetarian. The food was gorgeous. Cooked to order, delivered hot, and extremely tasty. Very impressed with both service and food. Can't understand why we've never been before. Will definitely be back.
The Gurkha Cafe and Restaurant offers amazing food and service. I have been many times now, as my friend Mark Sanky from Edinburgh has been a regular there for years. The food tastes very fresh with lots of herbs, spices and flavour. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Great experience, you definitely need to try and perhaps this may be your new regular place for a curry!
This is just another Indian restaurant with the word Gurkha in the title. Not a proper Nepalese restaurant. Food was OK but very disappointed there wasn't more Nepalese choice.
One of the best taste sensations I've ever had. I have tried Nepalese before but this was so different, great staff. Get there if you can.
Good food and friendly efficient service. A little bit more expensive than some curry houses, but worth it. Will definitely go back and would recommend it to others.
Enjoyed a quick curry at this place and it was an enjoyable and very tasty experience. The atmosphere was nice and the place was full at 19.30 on a Tuesday evening. I passed on a starter and ordered a Chicken Madras. I was asked how hot I would like it and it was cooked to perfection. Really hot spices and it tasted great. I would certainly return to this lovely place.
Great food and staff. Perfect location for Waverley station access. Definitely recommended dining experience in Edinburgh. Wine reasonably priced considering it's Edinburgh prices. I'll be back.
Brilliant atmosphere!! Brilliant Food! Loved the Everest Beer!! Will go back again!!! Highly recommended. My wife and I went with some friends and had a lovely time. Trekked in Nepal and it Brough back some nice memories 😊
Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table immediately. Service was prompt and friendly especially on a very busy Friday (rugby 6 nations weekend). Our waiter advised us on ordering only one order of rice and one order of naan between two which was plenty. I ordered the mo mo starter which was the best I've tasted and the lamb main dish was extremely tender and full of flavour. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to my friends and I will definitely be returning again.
This is my second visit and I will be back. Lovely food and atmosphere. The staff couldn't have done more to make sure our meal was just right.
Excellent as always. Amazing food! Plenty of choice and the mo-mos are heavenly. This was our second visit and certainly won't be our last! Highly recommend this outstanding restaurant.
Brilliant food , great service , great location , Good atmosphere . Can't fault this place . Chicken Madras was fantastic . Will definitely be going back soon
The food was delicious and the portion size was great, we all had very good appetites that day and were satisfied with the quality, quantity of the meal and the service. Thank you
Really nice restaurant although seating was quite cramped. Food was lovely and service was nice and quick too. Will definitely go back and visit again. I would recommend this place to my friends.
Excellent meal in a lively atmosphere. The presentation of the starters was enough to set this apart from most other "Indian-style" restaurant. The place was mobbed, but the service was fast and friendly.
Excellent service and quality of food, will be returning to Edinburgh later in the year and will make a point of returning to this lovely establishment. David from Bexleyheath
Food was fantastic and service was good. Good selection of dishes, well prepared and presented. My only (minor) issue is thatsome of the chairs are a bit old and past there best - bit uncomfortabke after two hours. Wont stop me going back though!!
Restaurant first class. Alas the cafe had no knowledge of my booking. Fortunately, despite being very busy, managed to fit us in. We have serious doubts about using this booking agency ever again. Very upset.
Could not fault the food or speed of service at all. All waiting staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. Great selection of drinks too! Their draught lager, Everest, is a great accompaniment to anything on the menu. Would be happy to recommend this restaurant to anybody and I already have to several friends. My only small niggle is the close proximity of tables to each other, leaving minimal space for staff to get through or to avoid the back of your chair bumping someone else's. With it being such a popular and enjoyable place to experience though, I understand they want to make room for plenty of people to share in it. Will be a returning customer.
Excellent wee restaurant. Great staff. Ask for the traditional Thali (not on the menu) and if they have everything they'll whip up something really special for you.
Very disappointed with our meal tandoori chicken did ask if it was serve on the bone or off was told off the bone but when it arrived it was on the bone , the chicken its self was very dry and the sauce that came with it was like a meal in itself very thick like lentil pdhal was served with salad very confusing for us was the fact we had olives in our salad??? Never had this before no like. The other meal was tandoori sea bass very average and lots and lots of bones also served with salad and olives won't be back we where so looking forward to this restaurant but very disappointed.
Beautifully spiced food. I had a lamb starter and a cauliflower and potato main, accompanied by a light and delicious naan. Pleasant staff and reasonable prices make for a good experience. Worth trying.
Excellent food and good service. The only minor point was the descriptions on the menu. I ordered the chicken jalfrezi which was supposed to be hot and was in fact pretty mild. We were a party of five and all thought that the standard of the food was great.
Dinner was amazing, everything was really good and portions were a perfect size. The staff was really nice and kind but not too intrusive which is often something that can be annoying :) prices were a bit high compared to average but overall it was a good experience.
excellent food. no gimmicks no fancy furniture just honest good food with very helpful and friendly staff. i would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant would would suggest making a reservation
Friendly, efficient service providing tasty Nepalese/Indian dishes. Enjoyed mixed starter followed by a Nepalese curry, karai and prawn shashlik. Accompanied by a light naan and fluffy pillau. All delicious.
Great food and service. Only criticism was we were sat in a passageway between the front and back of the restaurant. Would certainly recommend this place.
An excellent meal served by friendly staff. Reasonable selection of wine and beer available. A good range of fish and vegetarian selections on the menu, so something for everyone.
Problem with my meat (very tough) but offered a change of meal which was tasty and we were not charged (all done without us asking which is a sign of a good restaurant). Sauces on both meals were lovely. Friendly staff. Would definitely visit again.
