The food was excellent! We love Indian and Nepalese food, and we have a favourite restraint back home but this place easily compares to it! The food was exceptional in every way, they cater for vegetarians and vegans with a wide range of choices on their menu, which we can’t find many places! The staff were polite and efficient in their jobs, and they even sang happy birthday when being deserts out for my girlfriend! We had a fantastic time at the Gurkha Cafe and if were in Edinburgh again, it’s the first place I’m coming back to to eat at!
Great food, very tasty and service was friendly. Staff were very accommodating when we turned up early. Only slight issue was the table was a bit cramped.
Lovely meal. Very attentive staff. Took advice from waiter regarding Nepalese dishes off menu, which were all amazing. Will definitely visit again when in Edinburgh
Food was scrumptious! Fish Tikka melted in your mouth. One of the best Saag Paneers I've ever had. We will be back!Make sure to get reservations, they were turning people away at the door.
VERY friendly welcome. The food arrived in good time and was all very tasteful. Would this is our second time here and will be back on our next visit to Edinburgh.
You are always guaranteed a friendly welcome, fantastic food and great service. Ghurka Café is our favourite place to eat in Edinburgh, can't wait to go back.
Excellent Nepalese restaurant- great service and superb food. We always go here when Edinburgh after a Scotland rugby game. Will be back again next year for six nations
Impressed at how well presented the food was, expecially the starters. Enjoyed the momo and potato cakes and curry was really nice - cheese roti especially good. Big portions - we shared a naan and rice and still struggled to finish. Nice service, even on a busy rugby night - happy to recommend.
Food was amazing, Rose wine not so good but the quality of food absolutely excellent. I had Butter Chicken, full of flavour and the Naans are very big and tasty.
Fabulous food. Just disappointed that £10 was automatically assumed we would pay extra as a tip, this would have been a 20% tip!I am used to inputting what I want to pay,not what I'm told to. The tip was removed but I don't think this is good practise, fab food or not. Some people might have missed this and paid.
Great atmosphere in a central Edinburgh location, with lovely authentic food. We had a really enjoyable meal here and would recommend it for a good reasonably priced restaurant.
Funky place, tasty curry and friendly staff. Portion size for our starter could have been better but was still nice. Well worth a visit if nearby.
Excellent food - generous portions and beautifully presented. Absolutely outstanding service. We have been several times and have never been disappointed. It’s a favourite! !
One of the best indian meaps i have ever had. We will be bacm. Great staff and atmosphere. Food is pricy but worth it. Thanks
The food was lovely but I was surprised to put it mildly that a “gratuity “ of nearly 20% was added to the bill! Won’t be back.
Service was a bit slow, but then again, the restaurant was packed! Always a fab meal at Ghurka. Menu has been updated to include some new and fun items. This round there were 6 of us - we ordered 5 different appetizers - thought they were so yummy - we ordered them again - then dinner! Always look forward to returning when in Edinburgh.
Lovely place, friendly staff, delicious food. Only let down by the fact the table was rather near to the walk-way through the restaurant. But will definitely be back!
Absolutely amazing food. Fab service. Thank you for a lovely night. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and would come back again in the future.
A great restaurant! We've been before and loved it but this visit was even better. The food was incredible but the best part is the atmosphere and service. Genuinely friendly staff but with just the right level of attentiveness really made our evening. Would go every week if we lived nearer!
Very good food and kind service even if slightly more expensive than average. Pineapple and coconut rice was a pleasant discovery. Chicken was fresh and tasty.
There were some different dishes from the usual Indian. The dhal beat a higher end famous Indian with branches in London and Edinburgh which will remain unnamed.
Food and service was excellent. Very busy so we had to be realistic about waiting times. I would happily recommend this restaurant to visitors and locals.
As usual excellent service with authentic and obviously freshly cooked food. Always worth a visit when in Edinburgh. We always opt for the Nepalese options and the bottled Gurkha beer is nicely chilled and very smooth.
There was 4 of us and although very busy we were served quickly and with delicious food. Great variety and well priced too. Would definitely return
Service and food good.....since it was very busy due to Festival they did well. The sign outside in red and white can be offputting[looks like for sale sign and frontage unprepossessing but well worth trying.
excellent food and service. Luckily we had booked a table as it was very busy. staff were super and catered for our friends allergy requirements.
Delicious food, enjoyed the mango lassi. Would definitely go back and highly recommend. Went Monday 5.15pm mid Augustl, was pretty quiet from opening but got busier after 6.30, suggest booking during the Festival.
They provided great service, delicious food and were very accomodating. I would higjly recommend to anyone for a night out or a romantic meal. Perfect.
Excellent food especially the Mo mo's! All the staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend booking as it gets very busy especially in peak times.
Overall, reat service and food! True value for money! Very relaxing atmosphere and a nice environment for children. Would definately go again when in town.
Excellent as it always is. Good variety and all tasty
Great service quick and efficient, food was delicious, restaurant very busy glad we booked will definitely return next time we’re in Edinburgh which will hopefully be soon
The food was excellent but the service was impersonal. Didn’t even acknowledge us as we said thank you as we left (and yes he did hear me). Great food though!
Food was very freshly cooked and tasty. Portion of mixed pakora only had 4 pieces for just under £7, a little pricey. Signage outside 'Lunch menu from £5.95' this is the price of the cheapest starter and not a lunch main, a little misleading. Service was a little slow but but not too bad.
This was our fourth visit to the Gurkha. Consistently good food, proper sized portions, friendly attentive staff, prompt service, reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back.
Superb food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend the Gurka beer, chicken tikka and the lamb biryani and keema nan. Superb flavours served on time with a smile
Best to book, busy, friendly place. Good choice of delicious, freshly cooked food. Suited our group of 5. Including a child and a veggie. Would recommend.
I am a regular diner here and the food and service never fail to impress. Food was very fresh as always and service very efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.
Quandoo is a user friendly booking system. I was able to book the dinner even on the same day. Thank you very much. I will use it again.
Fantastic food and friendly staff. Brilliant service. Rather busy though, had to wait a little while for table and table we got in window meant we were surrounded by people waiting for their tables. Not the best table to get when you have a booking. I'd keep that table for non bookings and offer it to them.
The staff were fantastic and helped me choose both my starter and main meal. We opted to try dishes off the Nepalese menu and we're not disappointed the food was amazing. Would 100% recommend.
Very busy on a Monday. Nice friendly welcome. Friendly service and excellent food. Would certainly go again the next time we are visiting Edinburgh. Wine a little expensive but all Edinburgh seemed the same.
Awesome & delicious food. Excellent service. We stayed for 2 days in Edinburgh and had dinner only in this restaurant. Cocktails are great too. Very happy
Good curry and friendly staff. In the hart of Edinburgh and nearby the royal mile. Try it with the delicious naan bread. And the mango lassy
Perfect in every way. Food, staff and service excellent. Ideally located just a short walk from the back of Waverley Station. 35 minutes door to door from North Berwick.
Piatti principalmente nepalesi, porzioni abbondanti, ottima cucina, servizio cordiale, prezzi onesti. Un ampio menù da dove poter scegliere a proprio gusto ed una buona proposta di mare. Da tornare
Service is excellent. Food is insanely good. Be sure to try the chicken/vegetable Mo:mo's and the potato-cake for starters. Haven't had a bad dish there ...
Absolutely delicious food. This was our second visit to this restaurant. The Nepalese dishes are particularly good. Highly recommended. Will go back next time we visit Edinburgh.
Great food as always and well looked free by the team. Becoming a regular spot!
Lovely food, a bit on the pricey side but with great ambience. We were quickly served and the waiter was attentive without being too pushy. Really nice experience.
