Had such an enjoyable meal. The staff were extremely friendly and always happy to help. The food was delicious and amazing value for money. Can't wait to visit again!
Great food Great location Great staff ! Lovely location for a family gathering ! We all had one of their Sunday dinners ( selection of 4/5 meats to choose from )) ....very Christmassy !
Our food was very good and service was also very good. However we had to contend with fairly constant noise from building work that was going on in the room above us which was rather annoying. Otherwise we had a good overall experience.
Good food and service, bit cold in the back room and the quinoa salad arrived without quinoa, other than that a good meal and would go back.
Visited on a Saturday evening in early December meaning there were a few Christmas parties having a pre-ordered Christmas menu. Unfortunately we felt like a forgotten entity. The waitresses were pleasant but getting their attention was difficult as they raced about seemingly avoiding eye contact at all costs. The menu unfortunately didn't suit us at all as we were hoping for something a bit different but the only things that appealed were fish and chips, and gourmet burger (not being a fan of mushrooms or mussels, the sausage and mash feeling a bit 'Tuesday night', and the shepherds pie not being available). That's down to personal taste though. The food served was good quality although the chips were a little too greasy.
Confusing service from four different waiters, one table one waiter is all that is needed. The food was over salted rendering one dish uneatable. They even snook two bottles of water on to the bill that we believed was tap water at a cost of more than £7. It is a shame because the place has the potential due to its location and building to be a top class restaurant but a poor chef and waiters and underhand tactics to rack up the bill means I will not be visiting again until I hear that there has been a dramatic change in the place.
Good food in a relaxed atmosphere, attentive service. Really enjoyed our meal here. Worth checking out the craft beers and the good wine list within a stones throw of the castle walls.
We had an early supper in the bar and the food was very good. There was a lovely atmosphere. I am a regular at Fothergills and would highly recommend.
The food here was fantastic, really great quality and the portion sizes were extremely reasonable. The staff were lovely and we will definitely be coming here again
Always a wonderful ambient atmosphere at Fothergills a most enjoyable leisurely experience with good friends, great food and nice choice of beer and wine - Ben Buckley
Perfect view, adorable atmosphere, kind and smiley stuff. Our waitress was really helpful. It was a nice experience and i would definitely come back again. Thank you.
Great food and service as always, been a few times now. However we were sat upstairs which lacked the atmosphere the main downstairs eating area.
Pleasant meal good choice of beer helpful and friendly staff. Happy to recommend and will visit again. Try the pickled herring lovely if you like such things.
Lovely food. There were four of us, we each had a different dish and each dish was amazing. Classic gastro pub food with a few unusual but delicious flavour combinations - we'all definitely be back!
The staff were great and managed to fit in an extra member of our party at a day's notice. The food was good. The only thing that could be improved was the nut loaf: both the vegetarians in our party found it bland in texture (not very nutty) and the sauce over-sweet. Nevertheless, a good experience all round.
Excellent service, attention to detail and food. One of the best places I have tried in Nottingham and well worth a visit. I will visit again and I recommend it.
Food very good. service problems we was the only ones left in the restaurant they never took pudding order until we asked at the bar.
Nice and friendly staff, food well and truly nice, we will return.
What do you want in a restaurant? Great food and service! Well, Fothergills is the place to find it and more. So relaxing and friendly.
We have visited fothergills on many an occasion and always enjoy the £29 meal deal - 2 courses and a carafe of wine (now 2 glasses of wine - previously a bottle!) The food is good quality and the location is great. The only reason for the slight reduction in score is that the service can be slow - this is not a problem for us because we like to have a long relaxed meal but would be difficult for anyone time pressured!
Fantastic food and service. The 3 cheese tear and share was fabulous. The chicken and chirizo linguini was very tasty although could have done with a little more chorizo. Exceptional value for money. The staff were efficient and very polite. Highly recommend Fothergills.
Great meal and service as always. The perfect mix of pub and restaurant in a great location. Good indoor and outdoor seating with views of the castle walls.
Great food, exceptional service! Relaxing atmosphere in a good location near the centre of Nottingham. Good food and drink choice. We'll be certainly re visiting!
The staff are attentive and discrete. Although we had booked a table, we decided to sit outside as the evening was one of these few late summer balmy evenings. This area of the city is wonderful, overlooking the castle walls, with no distinct traffic. The food was excellent, served together, with no reminders to the staff who ordered what. All in all an excellent evening out.
Great service and food as always, staff very attentive and great choice and food and drinks. Nice to sit in and also outside when the weather permits
Everything was spot-on, the food and atmosphere were great, the service was really good and very acceptable waiting times for each course, a very pleasant experience all round.
Excellent food at reasonable prices. Good portion sizes as well, so no skimping on the quality or amount. Prompt service and a great location, and a nice selection of beers.
The meal was lovely. The waitress was very helpful and we received excellent service. I had the duck breast it was very pink and a bit rarer than I prefer.
The Food was good but had to wait a long time for order to be taken, then a long wait between courses, table was in the bar area and very noisy
Lovely little restaurant near the castle. Really reasonably priced food. Tasted delicious and fresh. Really friendly service. Would definitely recommend the wine and dine offer.
Food and atmosphere was very good. Staff very pleasant. I would have given a 6 except some drinks had been added to the bill which we had not ordered. The staff promptly rectified this but the same thing had happened on a previous visit. Would definitely return.
Very informal atmosphere, with a team of experienced staff that made our visit enjoyable. Food was good, reasonably priced. We have been a few times & it has a nice feel about the place.
Their website shows about if date menu, they will not cook anything off it. The manage is rude, smug and made a 'meow' comment on leaving and said she hopes we don't come back.
Recommended by a friend, First time visit for special occasion, lovely atmosphere, nice staff, excellent food, fairly priced, would recommend and will visit again soon
Lovely day by the Castle, occasional showers but mostly sunny - combined with a delicious Sunday Lunch! Always good quality food and a great atmosphere.
EXCELLENT SERVICE AND GREAT FOOD FOR LUNCHTIME. THE BOOKING PROCESS WAS EASY AND THE AMBIENCE WAS JUST RIGHT FOR A SEMI-BUSINESS LUNCH. i WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.
Lovely restaurant very nice food highly recommend ithis. It good for all ages always busy and good atmosphere you can look out at the Castle
Great food,we were placed at the bottom of the restaurant which was nice, however, sometimes took a bit of time for the waitress to come and service us. It wasn't a real issue as we weren't in a hurry
Nice food and presentation, friendly stuff and good location. 2 main courses with carafe of house wine for 25 pounds! Duck breast is really good!
Excellent food and great service. The staff were all very polite and attentive. Great for a date night or group of friends. I would definitely go back
The food was absolutely gorgeous, in taste and appearance. 2 wine and dine for £29 is a great mid-week deal. However service was a bit slow and they open all the front up, which is lovely on a warm day but got rather chilly and could've done with being closed sooner. Still a wonderful evening!
The reason why it hasn't received 6 stars is because there was 1 or 2 dishes on the menu that weren't available, other than that brilliant as usual.
Just brilliant place. Eat here lots and will continue to. Thank you 😊 Always a lovely menu and good wine at reasonable price. Great for any occasion.
Great food and service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to other people. The prices are quite reasonable too and it is close to some other great pubs in Nottingham.
Food was really nice, especially the steak, really nice restaurant in a nice location, lovely staff, not particularly very busy there which is nice for a quiet meal
Staff were great food and service was exceptional. The Sardines the Pork Belly followed by Posset mouthwatering. My family didn't have a bad word about their choices as well.
Great place that does very nice food in a nice area of Nottingham just outside the Nottingham castle grounds. Good service, good ambiance and good food.
Food, customer service and atmosphere was very good. A good range of food to cater to everyone's tastes. Only disappointment was a lack of vegan options on the menu (although the restaurant was able to cater for this).
The food was tasty and beautifully presented. There was a great atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful: responding quickly to emails sent before the meal and making us feel relaxed and welcome on the day.
I took my mum to Fothergills for a meal on Saturday evening. It's in a lovely spot next to the Castle and we sat outside in the sunshine. The staff were very attentive and friendly and I was impressed with the menu. I had mussels with chips and mum had a chicken caesar salad. I'd definitely go there again.
