Good food, lovely atmosphere in a great location close to the castle
Outstanding food, lovely setting. Felt a little rushed at the start and then waited a long time for desserts. But fabulous overall.
It's a great place with friendly staff and fab food at a good price.
Only quibble was the bill was incorrect, so had to request it be re calculated, staff apologetic though
We had a nice evening, food and service very good. Music playing in background was a little too loud for my taste, but it would not stop me returning or recommending to friends. Well worth a visit.
Really good food, eaten here a couple of times now since moving into the area and it’s always been top notch. Great staff too. Definitely recommend
Starters and main courses were as good as usual. However the desserts were poor. They looked has if they had been taken out of a supermarket box and dumped onto a plate with a slight flurry of sauce. Totally unappetising and tasteless with no care or effort into presentation. In answer to the usual "is everything ok" our comments were met with " I`ll let them know" !!!!. Whoever "them" were we do not know.
Lovely evening that reached our expectations for a place that is special to us > HH
It was a lovely meal and a lovely restaurant in fantastic surroundings!
Had a great time, nice food good service in a great location
Got seated at 6pm and 4 out of 9 had starters. Main course did not come out until about 7.45pm, I know it was busy but just thought that was a little long to wait and I would have been happier if they just let us know instead of waiting for us to ask before we knew about a delay. Apart from that it was all good.
Waited 20 mins before order taken (including drinks). Starters took 15 mins to arrive but still no drinks. Main course served 1 hour after arriving (table booked in advance as it was my birthday...). Food ok when it finally arrived but nothing special. Wobbly table, missing glasses and cutlery, two 'large' glasses of wine filled to different levels, felt ignored and sidelined by waiting staff - we won't be back.
Excellent place to go food was very good so was the service
There was only 6 of us but it was a Lovely tasty meal with Great table service, would absolutely recommend it!
Great food, great service, nice varied menu and range of drinks
Excellent food, friendly helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant.
Food was fabulous and our waitress was fantastic and had such a wonderful personality. Very pleasant and pleased with our meal.
Nice and good quality food, ok price Service was ok, was just a quiet lunchtime on a rainy day.
First time at this restaurant for 5 of us. We were made to feel very welcome, lovely atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic menu, something for everyone, there was not one thing I didn’t like! And the food.....simply AMAZING! Every mouthful was delicious! We will definitely be coming back and highly rate this restaurant! Compliments to fantastic chefs and waiting staff
All good good service good food at a reasonable price.
Food so good, service fantastic. Lovely pub and great atmosphere
We both Love this pub ! Everything is quality 👍
One of the best Sunday roasts you can find in Nottingham.
good food as always. service not as good as usual but think they were short staffed
lovely lunch outside in the sunshine. fantastic food and service.
great food as always. service wasn't as good as usual but think they were short staffed.
Lovely Sunday roast dinner and good service. Thank you :-)
The food was not as good as previous visits and the menu we felt was misleading; under the sunday roast section roast pork was actually belly pork and roast lamb was actually a lamb shank. The place itself however is still nice and the service was good. We felt it was expensive for what the food provided on this occasion. It won't stop us from trying again another time but will be leaving it a little while.
This was our 1st visit, and wasn't the best experience. Lovely place and atmosphere and staff were very good, but had few problems with the food. Starters were lovely, looked good and tasted good, then came the mains, only 2 of the 3 arrived as they had had an accident in the kitchen with one, so had to wait for that to arrive, whilst waiting we noticed one of the pork dishes was under cooked and when they arrived with remaining main we explained and they apologised and took it away to replace it and the chef asked if my son would like some bread and olives while he waited. By the time his arrived, we had finished ours. We did opt to have desserts and have to say they were not amazing and over priced. Such a shame as we've visited a sister bistro Le Mistral a couple of times which is much better and great value for money.
Good food and service, will definitely come again for lunch.
Great Sunday lunch, as always. Vegetarian options are excellent too.
A lovely setting for Sunday Lunch but book early - it's popular!!
Lovely restaurant, nice food and atmosphere. Will visit again certainly
We had a really great time. Lovely food and a very friendly atmosphere.
Good but not great Sunday lunch with very friendly staff.
Slow service. Food not as described disappointment. Not upto scratch
Good choice good portions very tasty well presented pleasant staff
What a lovely lunch my daughter and I had at Fothergills Nottingham today. Delicious food and very welcoming staff. Nothing was a problem. Thank you and see you all again very soon.
Everything was great, one of the meals lacked a little seasoning
It was a busy Friday evening and we were close to the bar area, so noise levels were high. The mussels included an unusually large number of broken shells. The lemon meringue pie was lacking in lemon flavour and the non-meringue part was very dry. We were also shocked to have our single-malt whisky and brandy served with ice. In fairness though we were given a substantial reduction on the bill in recompense.
Good food and great choice of drinks including cask ales in a relaxing environment
Our servers were incredible from start to finish the owners should be very proud. Fab food and atmosphere will definitely return ASAP
Good food, wine and service. Definitely recommend going and will go again
Great food, great atmosphere, great company, very enjoyable Sunday lunch
Great food, friendly staff and a lovely location. What more do you want!
The food was extremely good .The service was excellent, lovely all round.
Very good service and delicious good! I would totally come back!
Our second visit here, and found this excellent on both occasions. Food and drink choice good. Staff friendly. Great surrounding both in restaurant and the view across to the castle. Will certainly visit again.
Food was great, possibly the best steak and ale pie ever tried. The dining room was cozy and quiet and the service exceptional. Great experience.
the burger was good, the salad was very ordinary - lettuce, a few slices of cucumber, radish and carrot (sliced) - the chips very disappointing. certainly not really value for money which I rated 3/6, I rated 5/6 for service, waiting times and noise levels
