Drum & Monkey - Harrogate

A lovely atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu is full of yummy things and it was very difficult to decide. This is great, as we will definitely return to try some of the other options! Our food arrived very quickly and it was delicious. A good selection of wine too. We will definitely be back and I would recommend to fish and seafood lovers everywhere.

Lovely menu- lovely food and lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed the whole meal. We had a seafood platter sharer that we great for us! We tried oysters for the first time

Arrived at 7 for a pre dinner drink ( we had booked for 7.45 ) and could have eaten immediately but perused the menu and eventually went to our table at 7.30. Lovely food and wine served promptly with minimum fuss. Highly reccommended.

We had an excellent meal this lunchtime which for us as fish lovers was absolutely on the button and we very much look forward to our next visit. We must also not forget the very attentive staff. Thank you.

Nice restaurant the fish was cooked lovely and the waitress was very nice. We had a bottle of wine which was average price for a restaurant but thought the small bottle of lager was overpriced at £4.50!

Like stepping back in time. Good food, courteous and friendly staff, quirky environment. Could have done with some music as the atmosphere was quite hushed and because the tables are close together the diners were whispering to each other!

We were advised to book as can get very busy. We booked and went on a Monday evening which happened to be quiet. The service was impeccable and the food and wine superb. Full marks.

We had to wait for one meal that was 'forgotten' in a group of six. We were also 'pushed along ' a bit when really they weren't that busy. Food was in the range ok to good though!

Very welcoming, food and drink great, service excellent. David really made being a great waiter look very easy. We have not been for a while and it still ticks all the boxes.

If you like fish you will like the Deum and Monkey. Lovely food and friendly staff. Four of us all really enjoyed our meals. I had my favourite queenie scallops. Delicious!

The meal was excellence but the waiter was so unresponsive and miserable that he ruined the whole experience l would not like to repeat the meal. Also the tables were so close together that we felt embassesed to be listening in to the customers next to us. I definitely to not wish to repeat eating here, such a shame as the food was good

Visited the Drum & Monkey before and knew it would be a great experience. The food, service and surroundings are all great. Well worth a visit but consider booking.

I love this restaurant, the service, food and ambiance were as I expected, superb ! We had the crab, and queen scallop starters. Halibut and Dover dole main courses. Gavi white wine. Not ridiculously priced and truly value for money !

Not been for a while, but still as good as ever! Easy to book and nice, friendly service both on arrival and whilst we were there. Certainly go again and with not as long as before between visits.

A fish restaurant that has maintained a consistently high standard for many years. A starter of skate wing followed by halibut were both cooked to perfection - my only slight criticism was a lack of flavour in the veloute that accompanied the halibut but the fish was the star and it shone in both dishes. Service was excellent - prompt and attentive with a maitre de who makes you feel at home without being over familiar - an art rather than a craft! Overall another very enjoyable meal in one of Harrogates best restaurants.

Excellent service and delicious food and we will be returning soon. In particular, the Queen Scallops are a delight with the Prawn Cocktail having a piquant sauce.

Thoroughly enjoyable....have been going decades! Always reliable for good well cooked food and good service. Fish is the speciality and there is always a super variety. Make sure you end up with the raisins, Madeira and ice cream!!

Absolutely outstanding. Excellent service, amazing food and a lovely location! I would recommend to anyone who is visiting Harrogate to visit this restaurant ... especially if you are a lover of fish!

Great value for money and compared to the rest of the eating venue’s around harrogate this is truly one of the best. Cant fault if your a big fan of seafood. Great selection of starters and mains.

This is the 4th time we have been to the Drum and Monkey in the last three months, and as with every other time the food and service was excellent

Another outstanding meal: excellent ingredients beautifully cooked. The Drum & Monkey knows how to present a wide range of fresh food consistently well. The wines on offer are equally good.

Lovely restaurant; delicious seafood served by warm and friendly waitress. Highly recommend and would definitely go again. We had the scallops and prawns to start, and cod and haddock main with a delicious sticky toffee pudding to follow!

I can highly recommend the Drum and Monkey fish restaurant the menue was comprehensive the food was excellent and service was very efficient you will need to book in advance there are lots of regular customers.

High quality food in this quirky little fish restaurant - well presented and very enjoyable experience. Although the tables are a little small and a little too close for my personal comfort.

Wednesday lunchtime visit with a business colleague. Service was impeccable. Couldn't fault our waiter who was friendly and very helpful. We chose from the lunchtime set menu and the food was excellent. Fish cakes and sea trout together with side order of dauphinoisse potatoes. Very enjoyable

Excellent service, excellent food, Unrushed in a lovely atmosphere,will visit on a regular basis. The staff are friendly & attentive, it’s not cheap but not over expensive either, would recommend to anybody. The menu is varied & covers lots beautiful & interesting starters,mains & desserts.

Couldn’t fault this place, food was amazing, and waiter was extremely helpful about portion size and side orders. Would definitely revisit next time we are in Harrogate.

The restaurant was buzzing downstairs, however we had booked a table and was shown upstairs. The upstairs room was perfectly fine but had zero ambiance. It was only a Monday lunchtime but the Christmas spirit hadn’t extended upstairs at all. We ate from the set lunch menu and the food we had was very good. The service was also very good and cost as expected. We did feel as if we has been naughty and placed in the naughty room. Maybe some Christmas deccos and background music might have helped. The ivy brassiere and other restaurants were very busy in Harrogate. Won’t stop us returning but not on a weekday lunchtime.

High quality fish restaurant with excellent wine list. Service tip-top. I had the Moules, followed by Hake - both very well cooked and beautifully presented. Highly recommend.

We have been going to the Drum & Monkey for over 20 years and the food is exquisite & service is always outstanding. This place is simply the best fish restaurant in Yorkshire

Everything - food, service, ambiance, etc - was excellent as always except in one respect. There is a fine line between friendly and over familiar staff. One cheery waitress stepped out of line when she jokingly asked one of my guests if he was "a man or a mouse" because he declined to have a dessert and pressured him twice more before accepting his refusal. He is diabetic and has to carefully control the quantity of sweet things he consumes!!!. I am loathe to even mention it and know she was making what she thought was only cheerful banter but simple things like this can so easily cause embarrassment. Luckily, our friend is understanding and quickly dismissed the incident so no lasting harm was done and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We shall be back.

Some time since we visited the D &M but as good as we remember it. Food and service good. Ambience fine and will hope to be with you again soon.

First time visit and definitely not our last. We had oysters and mussels to start and the monk fish for main. All dishes were beautiful. We were looked after by David and his colleague (lady with glasses) both we’re brilliant. Very attentive and we had a good laugh with them. A must visit.

Amazing venue and perfect food. From arrival the atmosphere was great and we were very well looked after. Great choice of wines and seafood. Perfect night and will definitely be back again. Highly recommended

One of our favourite restaurants. Took my cousin and his girlfriend. We all enjoyed our food as expected and the service is always great. Keep doing what you do.

We had a fab time at The Drum, always do! Only hope we weren't too rowdy? Food was delicious as always & we were looked after very well!
