A truly independent Italian, Italian Restaurant. Friendly and engaging staff. The menu covered all angles and supported those with certain tastes and the chef happy to flex if you wanted something freaked. Overall a great meal

Unfortunately, although the owner is Italian, the chefs seem not to be Italian. Being raised in Milan, I know Italian cuisine, but what they served us today was terrible. The risotto was over cooked and extremely dry. The risotto was served as a mountain (thick) when truth is risotto should be flat, so we ended up returning it back. Also, for the ravioli, the dough was too THICK. Lastly, the tagliatelle al ragù, the meat smelled bad. One good thing: the owner was kind.

Fabulous food in a relaxed setting. The portions are generous, so consider carefully whether you require a starter. Personally, I would still go for it as they are just too good to miss out on.

Great food, drink, service & atmoshere. Not enough room between table and seating position which makes the act of eating rather awkward if you have normal length arms!

Fantastic! Great, genuine, Italian dining experience. Food was fantastic - huge portions. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It’s certainly ‘cosy’ but all the better for it!

What an exciting find! A good friend recommended Da Paolo and I visited the restaurant on the anniversary of the death of my mother - I always choose an Italian restaurant, as she was Italian - to celebrate her life. The food was amazing: and true to good Italian cooking, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. My friend and I chose antipasti - Goats cheese salad and a prawn and avocado dish. The portions were enormous and so were our main dishes of monkfish cooked with cherry tomatoes and vongole (four monkfish steaks!) and another prawn dish. The dishes were cooked according to the principles of good, Italian cooking: the fresh ingredients of the highest quality. Praise, too goes to our waitress, who was very helpful and friendly and was not phased when we explained that another friend had been stuck at work and could not come., Da Paolo has a traditional interior and the atmosphere is cosy and intimate - though it never felt overcrowded and we out conversation did not compete with the other patrons. All in all, a great experience and we will definitely return.

Excellent trattoria, although a little noisy. A very good wine list, but, maybe I couldn't spot it, but they didn't seem to have decent half bottles. Good to see they're now opening for lunch on Sundays.

Lovely traditional Italia resturant. So nice to avoid the big chains and find this little gem. I think it was about a 7 minute walk from the dominion theatre so it was a perfect location for us.

We had a wonderful meal here! The ambience was great, the staff were genuinely friendly, and provided prompt and attentive service without being intrusive. Three of our party ordered from the daily specials offered and they were delicious. Nice, if relatively small wine selection, but they looked carefully chosen and covered a wide price range to accommodate varying budgets. Oh, and we arrived over 30 minutes early on our reservation time but they graciously seated us immediately. We will be back!

I think this was our fourth visit to Da Paolo's. The food, as ever, was delicious. The service was friendly, helpful but not intrusive. It's a great, atmospheric setting. It's become a bit of a go-to to celebrate a special occasion as it always feels a bit special, without being over-formal.

A little gem of an old style Italian restaurant. Lots to choose from on the menu plus a specials board. All reasonably priced. Food was delicious, staff are very friendly and lovely coffee! Didn’t feel rushed to finish our meal - not a fan of places where you feel you need to be in and out within an hour! It is a small restaurant so best suited to parties of 1-4.
