Good quality food and service. Drink prices are a bit steep but the food offerings are very acceptable. Booking online is easy. Good Brighton restaurant.

First time I’ve been to this restaurant and decided to choose cotes for a birthday treat with partner for dinner / lunch. Was disappointed to have the food served and a black hair was on the plate in plain sight. I advised the waitress and she replaced the food. I did expect a bit more from an up market restaurant. The service by the staff was overall good but being served the food with a thick black curly hair on (when I’m bald man) really wasn’t acceptable.

It was a little rushed. I have been to the Cotes in Bristol and Cribbs and they were much more relaxed and elegant. Food was average and and one dish was returned as cold. Quickly replaced but just felt it was a bit of a production line. On the plus side they do have a low sulphate wine one of the few restaurants addressing this allergy.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was a lovely experience. Billy, our waiter was extremely attentive and had a lovely sense of humour. The quality of the food and wine were superb. The atmosphere is always great. So we'll definitely be back. We just wish we had a Cote in St leonards/Hastings area!!. How about it?

Disappointed this time round. The last time I had the Breton chicken and the duck it was cooked perfectly and the service was good too. However, this time round it was not so pleasant. We requested a table not near the door or directly in front. Although, it was a quiet evening only a third of the tables were taken up however we were given a table right next to the door. Although, there was the curtain to divide it was what we had requested not to have but was given. We accepted to be polite like you do at times. We ordered the calamari and steak tartare. The calamari was soaked in oil and didnt taste all that fresh. For mains the Breton chicken and the belly pork was not cooked well either. The last time I came which was during the day the Breton chicken was cooked perfectly. It smelt, looked and tasted fresh and cooked well glistening a golden brown. This time it was completely flat, no nice aroma and smaller in size. When it came to the table the lady said the weekend chicken. I told her we had ordered the Breton chicken from the a la carte menu and not the weekend chicken on the specials menu. She merely said it's the Breton chicken without any further explanation. The garlic butter was missing from the plate. So we asked for it. When it came to us no apology was given for it being missing. The fries from both Breton chicken dishes were fried more than once and were hard. It was visibly obvious. The pork belly was burnt and overdone. This meant it was hard and chewy rather than crispy and tender. I could not cut it even with the knife given. We didn't want to make a scene thinking maybe the chef may be having a bad day. Day chefs and night chefs were obviously different people. And being a sunday evening. The creme brulee was served cold. Not nice at all. It was obvious that things being slack was present in the restaurant aswell as in the kitchen. The high standards which you usually get on this particular evening were simply not there. At the end of the meaL we did mention it to the waiting staff but they didn't seem to care. Maybe thinking we were after a discount. We were not. We enjoy this place but sadly tonight was a let down. One thing I find rather deceiving is on the bill. The total inclusive of service which is optional is highlighted and larger in size and the total without service charge is small like the rest of the bill. As the service is optional you would think it only fair and right that this is highlighted in the correct way eg without the service charge added being larger as the service is optional. Many probably would not look at the bill and simply pay the larger amount because its bigger. Perhaps, this is why they have highlighted it this way. It's very deceptive and sneaky. The last time we paid the manager at the till he put in the inclusive service charge on the card terminal without even asking us whether we would like it included! If it's optional then it's our choice not his so were not impressed that he did it automatically without asking and without notifying us that he did so. Rather sneaky. Not impressed and most likely will not return at all. So sad.

Late evening meal after going to a concert - excellent quality food, with a good choice and courteous welcoming staff. We have eaten here many times and it is consistently good. Very busy and therefore quite noisy but as we were there at the end of the evening it quietened down during our meal.

Good value three course lunch as usual. Upstairs not too busy (but busy enough) and quieter than downstairs. The only problem on this visit was the very slow welcome at the door. Normally it is much better.

A very enjoyable eating experience. This was our first visit to Cote, using birthday vouchers, and we were not disappointed. We booked online, were given a choice of tables and served efficiently. We had a good choice from the lunchtime set menu and our needs were well attended to- even accommodating my alternative request of cheese to a sweet dessert.

Tables too crammed together; more space would improve the experience, giving room to get in and out as well as not having to overhear your neighbours' conversations.

Typically pleasant Cote experience. The only minor gripe was that one of our fillet steaks (mine) had a streak of gristle running all the way through. My wife's was perfect. Such is the nature of meat I suppose.

Having dined many times at Brighton Côte, I was rather disappointed this time. The staff were fantastic as ever but the noise levels were horrendous mainly due to a large party of ladies celebrating a birthday. I literally could not hear my friend sitting with me all evening and this simply spoiled the evening. I also ordered the November cassoulet special and found it far too dry. I will return but was very disappointed on this occasion
