We waited a long time for the food to arrive, even though the restaurant was not full. I had the escallop of veal, which was large but essentially tasteless, as the "sauce" consisted of a bit of jus and a piece of lemon on the side.

Usually fantastic. Today really only ok. Seemed to be understaffed, and all were a bit dozy. Managers not nearly as sharp as they normally are. Very slow to bring bread, water, wine and take the order.

Food was fine - not offered the garden terrace or a slightly more isolated table even though there were noisy tables nearby where we were seated- there was space to seat us elsewhere.

We have eaten many times in the restaurant and always enjoyed the excellent service and delicious food, but on this occasion on Sat evening we found ourselves unable to speak to each other because of the noise. Actually not your fault and your manageress did give us an option of going upstairs but unfortunately our friend would not be able to make that. Solution to problem we wont come again on a Sat night but we will come other times

Food and service very good as always and the free bottle of rose wine was an added bonus. Would have preferred a slightly later time but nothing available to book around 6 pm.

Fabulous evening, I've been here on several occasions always happy to recommend. Food and service both excellent. The fillet steak was the best. The ambience is stylish. My only suggestion would be to have one or two less tables as at time it can seem a little crowded.

Our waiter was fantastic - really attentive and went above and beyond for our friends 60th birthday. We had a great evening & great food!

My only disappointment was that the soup my partner and i had was barely warm and had to be sent back. I feel this is a very basic oversight.

An excellent meal, spoiled by the bill being incorrect and it taking a long time to pay the bill. Friendly service. Would certainly go again.

Lovely meal. We had the Prestige dinner menu. generous helping of asparagus followed by seafood linguine and grilled salmon. Apple crumble was delicious too! £58 for two including a glass of wine and coffee each, and service.

Waiter was not best pleased when one of our menus got wet from the water on the table ! Screwed it up in front of us !! We was not topped up with the wine - did it ourselves ! Not once asked if everything was satisfactory ! Slightly spoilt my friends birthday treat

I am used to enjoying my visits to Cote, However, my expectations weren’t realised yesterday. Initially our greeting by the Maitre d’ was great & welcoming. Our waitress took our order. When the meals arrived my companion’s was fine. Mine lacked one item and the vegetables were only cool. By the time mine was returned to me my friend had finished his meal. The waitress didn’t seem to connect with us; very different from our usual experience there. I will try my local Cote in Lewes next time.

We thought the staff were quite rude and we felt any requests we made were an inconvenience to them. For example, we had a dirty glass on our table which we kindly asked to be replaced to which the waitress gave a disapproving look and just swapped the glass with another glass on a different table. Also, after our plates were cleared the waitress dumped two dessert menus on the table without asking if we actually wanted pudding. Overall, we were very disappointed with the service, we didn’t even get a goodbye or a smile as we left the restaurant.

Family breakfast including some new visitors to Cote. Typically our talking up of the place ending up slapping us in the face. I guess something had to go wrong eventually.

As usual an excellent breakfast/brunch at Cote in most respects. I just felt that parts of the Full English breakfast were too salty. Otherwise good service and the restaurant continues to be very tolerant if you overstay the breakfast period and run into lunch while only ordering an extra coffee.

We had the early set menu and found the starter a bit weird. We had flatbreads with onion and Camembert. Too much onion and not enough Camembert. The onion repeated on is for the rest of night. Shepherds pie good. Creme caramel to sweet and too creamy. Overall 5/10 Service good; atmosphere ok

Setting and food always excellent, we were served by at least 3 people but usually it's 1, prefer to have one server as you can gain a bit of a Rapour which was missing

I love all branches of Cote, but the Brighton branch is in a particularly nice building that adds to the experience, and the location is very convenient. Quality food at good value prices, good choices with set meals and specials. The service is good and you know you can always rely on having a good time.

Very poor table service. Felt like we were just in the way and a complete annoyance to the staff. Have experienced this before at this restaurant. Won't be returning. Plenty of other restaurants to try out.

Excellent venue & friendly staff. The food and drink provided was excellent. A problem was encountered with the food and when this was bought to the attention of the staff, they dealt with it promptly and appropriately. I would definitely recommend visiting this branch of Côte.

I asked the time I was shown to the table about a particular dessert and was assured I could have it. When it cam time to order the dessert I was told there were none left. Atrocious! I will not visit again and will inform others.

Good but disappointed with the accompaniment with the haddock, beans with tomatoes, very cheap tomatoes and whoever chopped them up left the tough core on the tomatoes

As usual very nice. Ate from the set menu which is very good value. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Not fine dining but a jolly good meal for about £12, served by people who are friendly, and know what they're doing! Marvellous.

Lovely ambiance, helpful staff. The pre 7pm 3 course meal was basic. The pissaladiere was dry, the fish dish small and no carbs, the dessert frozen summer berries as bought direct from the freezer in Tesco and a tiny warm custard type sauce. Not gourmet but for £13 or so not so bad. Yes I’d go again.

Nice food, well presented, and a decent dry rose wine. Only issue was increasing noise as the evening wore on. Perhaps needs a little more sound absorbing materials?

In the past, I have worked for Carnival Cruise Lines, supper club, this is what I have to say about Cote: Professional staff quick service good lunch deal £13.50 Why I may not come back.... heavy decor-it's the opposite to modern style i got an impression that that it is well liked by elderly guests food was tasty, but not presented that nice, I mean i am into food and when I serve lunch my plate looks appetising and full of colours, again food was tasty but could be presented better. Thanks!

Cote is still one of the best ale chain restaurants around. The food is good and the service friendly and attentive. They do get very busy and sometimes it takes a while to get served bt you can see the staff working flat out to get round as many covers as they can.
