Côte Brighton restaurant

Have been a loyal customer for years - sadly the food last night was a new low. Both steaks were raw ( not rare) when medium rare was requested. Crab bisque was deeply unpleasant and made feel queasy for the rest of the evening even though I only had a sip. My pork belly was dry and had rubbery skin ( one of the points of belly is crispy crackling ) . One steak and the bisque were removed from our bill but this level of cooking is atrocious even in a domestic kitchen let alone one serving the public.

We received a lovely smiley welcome on arrival and managed to get a table near the window - a bit quieter than the rest of the restaurant, as requested.

Always receive amazing service here. My dish was tepid when it arrived and they replaced it straight away . I was satisfied with this outcome and thought nothing more of it. However, when the bill came they had removed the whole order including the starter. Incredible service and I wasn't expecting that. Thank you. I will always return as food always delicious

My wife and I booked a pre theatre meal at the restaurant, unfortunately when the main course arrived my wife’s meal was cold. We informed the waitress and and a replacement meal was promised. The restaurant was busy at the time and as a result I had finished my meal before my wife’s new meal had arrived. The Maitre d’ was really apologetic and offered our meal at no cost which was a kind gesture. It was a real pity this had happened as the food was very good (when it finally arrived). We cannot fault the staff as they were extremely sympathetic. It would have been a great night if we’d have managed to eat together!

Another lovely evening at Cote in Brighton. The food was good as always and the service was really brilliant. We have nothing but praise for this great restaurant.

Lovely staff, good food which could have been hotter. Unusually they weren’t as busy as usual so surprising that the service was slow. But will definitely go back!

I am a regular visitor & rarely am I disappointed but today was very disappointing. My daughter ordered the steak frites which was extremely stringy & not nice. Our kind waiter whisked it away & offered to replace the steak but it took quite a while & we therefore ate st different times.

Regular customers here. Staff always lovely. Excellent service and value. Our restaurant of choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Food very good, staff appalling very unorganised table booked for 1.30pm not even set up. Staff yawning during service really need to look after their customers!

cote is lovely restaurant and friendly staff , but our butterfly chicken was just a breast and our steak was very tough,but what we did eat was very tasty, we have been before and had the same meals and they have been lovely

The food was good, we had a mix up with my sons dinner and he had an allergy which they rectified and gave us the meal complimentary as a way of apology. Would recommend!

Old favourite never disappoints. Full house tonight. Staff as professional as ever.

Service good but . .. Both main courses we chose were out of stock. The soup starter wasn’t hot and the spinach side was tough and inedible. Then it came to the tarte au citron with soft mushy pastry. It’s supposed to be crisp if it’s been in the oven. Waitrose frozen is better. Just a complete inattention to detail. Côte can do better than this. A recession is coming so you’d better sharpen up otherwise it’s “a la Jamie’s Italian” for you.

Food was excellent as usual - we all ate from the Specials which we enjoyed. Only downside was that we paid cash and didn't get the change back. As we were already charged 12.5% service charge it was very cheeky not to offer it; we realised the waiter had disappeared to serve other people and as we had to get to a concert had to leave it.

If you're going to the theatre then this is the best place to eat for quickness of service and convenience. Good value for money on the early bird too.

The staff could not have done more to make today special. It was my daughter’s 18th birthday and they pulled out all of the stops. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who helped make such wonderful memories 😊

Côte is a great place to go to with both friends and family. Great food served in lovely surroundings.

Met a group of friends here for lunch and used the email sign-up offer of a free bottle of wine. It was a good choice - varied menu and staff friendly and helpful. The salads and steaks looked particularly good but all the food was of a pretty high standard. The smokers had to go out to the street to smoke as they weren't allowed to use the garden area, which wasn't ideal. But otherwise all excellent.

I love going to Cote. On this occasion, I was with a friend, celebrating her birthday. We were warmly welcomed and given a table in the window where we'd requested and treated to complimentary Kir Royales. We had a light lunch which was tasty if not exceptional and looked after very well. It being a weekday lunch, Cote wasn't buzzing as it is most evenings but we had a lovely time. We stayed most of the afternoon without being hassled in any way.

There are so many things good about Cote Brighton but although a lot of fuss (ie flags) is made of gluten free my partner felt very unwell after eating last night. There appears to be a problem with cross contamination in the kitchen. My only other negative comment is that salt levels are too high! Otherwise, exceptional service and enjoyable well presented plates.

Wonderful Lunch reasonable drink good starters fairly good mains and very good dessert. Criticism tables are far too close to each other. 7/10

Very slow service restaurant seemed overwhelmed lots of complaints will not be using again

Waited 45 mins for starters and we were not told that it was running a little late, when my food turned up it was cold so ended up leaving with no meal!

Food and service was great, although it took some time to get the starter which delayed the rest of the meal and meant we were slightly late for our show. Staff apologised and kindly took the drinks off the bill free of charge, which was a nice touch.

We arrived fairly early but it soon got busy and the service really slowed down. A group near us left without eating as they were going to a show and their food had not arrived.

We waited 40 minutes for a starter and 3 out of the 4 of them were cold. We then waited another 40 minutes for the food but had to leave without eating. While I appreciate pre theatre is a busy time of day, we arrived with plenty of time to enjoy our meal and still weren't able to eat. The staff were working to there best efforts, however they were severely understaffed and unable to attend to everyone.
