Côte York

Much better this evening. A previous visit was poor in every respect however Côte management responded positively to my complaint and provided a voucher so we could try again.

Excellent service and great ‘hot’ food - thoroughly enjoyable evening - shall return

We come here around once a month because we absolutely love the food and service. It's always spot on... Last night however was a shocker. We sat for over 20 minutes without a drink! Our drinks came after our starter! One of our favourite things is having a glass of wine while we read the menu. We were very close to leaving when our order was finally taken. There were many people waiting to have plates cleared yet the waiter ignored this and carried on talking to some customers. It really set a bad tone for the evening. It wasn't even busy in the restaurant yet the staff seemed to be unable to cope/more interested in standing having a chat. We didn't recognise any of the staff so there are clearly some new team members who really need to up their game. Such a shame as i don't feel like i want to return here after this experience. Food was great as it always is.

Yet another great lunch at Cote still my favourite place to eat in York . Excellent in every way .

The food was very good and great value for money. We were on the special January deal. We made it clear on arrival which deal we were on but the bill arrived with undiscounted charges! This was easily remedied but could have been avoided as restaurant not that busy.

Delicious meal, as always. After breaded Calamari, I had one of the January specials - Guinea Hen etc, which was delicious followed by ice cream wit dark chocolate sauce. We also had a bottle of Merlot on the January offer.

We had a wonderful evening - staff brilliant, thank you. We ordered our menu choices ahead and by 11.30pm they had run out of some of our dessert choices but the staff offered other choices and compensated by paying some of our drinks bill - excellent service.

The service was slow and the waitress was not very understanding! We ordered the french onion soup as we often do from other Cotes! It came out con jelled and we could’ve stuck a spoon up in it! We sent it back, we were then sent the same con jelled dish back again with new toast on the top!! By this point the manager intervened and sorted the issue and was very apologetic! We didn’t get served again by the waitress and the manager served a different soup. Overall the experience here wasn’t great.

As always at Cote friendly staff, great ambience and tasty food. Never disappoints

We had an incredibly frustrating and slow meal here. Each course took about half an hour to arrive, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Staff had forgotten one of our starters, and when that was pointed out it took almost another half hour to come. No-one offered to take it off the bill (which I would have expected), or offered any kind of apology for the slow service generally. Staff seemed nice, but didn't really engage and gave the impression they'd rather have been anywhere else. A shame, as we've had many nice meals here previously.

The staff were friendly and attentive so made us feel relaxed. The food was well presented and very tasty.

The food is of excellent quality at competitive prices, well presented which, in our view, is of great importance. The service was impeccable, particularly the assistance given to my wife's dietary restrictions when fat free alternatives were provided without any apparent effort. This restaurant is on the top of our list of places to eat in York, and we hope to continue the experience in this New Year.

As always the food was excellent. I suppose given that it was New Years Eve Lunchtime we should have known the staff would be busy. On this occasion we had to skip our desserts and final drinks due to the pressures the staff were under. Obviously will be fully manned later ! However none of that will stop us going back to this restaurant. Just one of those things.

As always really enjoyed Cote York. Staff and food excellent. Sea Bass and fish stew wonderful. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Good food and service, great value for money, will come again.

VGood overall. But Cote please note that dish used for crumbles often v hot to touch, BUT crumble not always fully warmed through. Didn't complain, but this quite often happens....I know this as it's my favourite pud at Cote!

I went with at two meat eaters. I am vegetarian. I feel that were much happier with the food than I was. I should have had something the French do well rather than something the Italians do well. I will think harder about my choices next time. Starters, puddings and coffee excellent for all of us. It was just my vegetarian main course which was not so good.

This was the first visit that my wife and I have made to the Cote Brasserie in York, and will certainly return whenever we visit York, which is why we have given it a 6 star rating in all categories shown below.

Boxing Day busy, but very good service and the menu was excellent and not over priced. Gluten Free menu was very good. Really good food, will be back.

Table of 8. 2 had egg benedict to start and the yolk on the eggs was hard on both dishes. Quite poor not to have a runny yolk. Main course, 2 had risotto and it was undercooked. Both sent back and manager said would replace as he also tasted it and agreed it was not cooked. Why on earth the chef would send it out like that I have no idea. We chose not to have them replaced as had an afternoon theatre booking. I normally rate Cote 100% and I’ve eaten with you often. Today was poor.

The worst service we have ever had at Cote York - 2 1/2 hours for the 3 course early bird menu. Staff not attentive and never saw the manager until we had to go to the till to pay having waited 20 minutes to try and get the bill. Not asked how the meal or service was - just added the sense that they were really not interested. Food was good always but spoiled by the service

Service was good but the kitchen had three attempts at cooking my friends steak and it was still seeping blood. By the end it was so dry it was inedible. very disappointing.

Great food and great service on a very busy Christmas Eve lunchtime. Always enjoy it here and even though they were extremely busy, staff still had a smile on their faces and found time to chat. Look forward to eating here again

Buzzing atmosphere, great food and reasonable in price too. A great start to the festive season. Steaks were particularly delicious, and the iced berries and white chocolate desert.....

Excellent meal of duck liver pate and grilled chicken with dauphinois potatoes. Really tasty, well presented with great service.

Fantastic meal beautiful food served fresh hot and fast! The staff were so lovely with my children nothing was too much trouble and there are always smiling
