Côte York

Food was fantastic cooked to perfection, all three courses served within the hour, great atmosphere and friendly staff, would definitely recommend to all to visit

It was the first time we had visited the York Cote restaurant. It was every bit as good as our previous visits to the Cote restaurant at Tower bridge. The food was excellent as was the service.

Delicious food, good service despite restaurant being very busy. We enjoyed the steak frites, creme caramel and tarte aux pommels. Dining early is a real bargain and very convenient before a concert.

Well received on arrival, were shown/given opportunity to choose a suitable table location, pleasant staff and good service - again!! Good drinks, tasty food, well presented and very pleasant surroundings.

Pleasant meal and efficient service, but the York restaurant does not have the same ambience as some of the other Cotes we have tried in Windsor, Clifton, Winchester and Oxford. The frontage is quite narrow and the restaurant extends a long way back. Nevertheless, it is in a very convenient position close to the Minster.

Always excellent service and lovely food. Having worked in restaurants for many years, I find service in York is generally poor in restaurants. Staff not on the ball, messy tables, waiting to long to order first drinks etc but Côte is always spot on!

My mum was taken Ill during our visit to York Cote - nothing to do with the food. The staff were wonderful. My daughter went to get the car before she could have her "looked forward to" choc pot - they let us take it with us as a takeaway to return the pot when we can. Meal was great as always but service and kindness exemplary. Thank you.

Excellent meal with attentive service. We eat here regularly and are never disappointed. Always a good atmosphere and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. We will be back shortly.

We regularly visit York Cote and find it a very enjoyable experience. The food is good and reasonably priced (especially the set meals). The menu is good and changes monthly. The staff are all friendly and efficient.

Excellent food, friendly service and great ambiance. We were a party of 5 who took ages to order (talking too much and not studying the menu), and were almost the last to leave. We didn’t feel rushed at all at any point. Yes, Côte is a chain - but when the food is consistently this good, does that really matter?

Great food, great service. We use Côte restaurants a lot, and I would definitely say that the York one is just about the best. Sometimes there is pressure to turn tables too quickly, but not at the in York.

Wonderful service and the food up to its usual high standard. Ambience great and a really good evening was had. Cannot wait to go back again!

Great service and good quality food too. Whilst I don't mind paying the 12.5% service charge, I don't agree that it's automatically added to your bill, no matter if you're told that it's optional. This reminded me why I haven't been for over 2 years. I think it's just a bit off putting and awkward when it's time to pay the bill.

Very helpful staff and usual good variety of menu choices. Food came promptly and was hot and tasty. Lighting a bit dim, especially when it came to reading the items on the bill!

It was just a quick lunch with one course and a drink so we didn't have the full experience. Very clean, bright, spacious. We enjoyed our food. Staff were attentive but it was not a particularly busy day.

The food was excellent as always, the only problem we felt like we were living in North America as the amount of time we were asked how our food was, first time we had hardly had a mouthful so did not know how it was, then one time when my husband had just put a mouthful of food into his mouth so could not answer, on the 3rd time, we did ask why do we have to be asked so many time? he said " well how do we know if everything is ok" All we have to do is tell our server. In Europe they NEVER ask, as know the food is good and should be good. 3 times was very annoying, if it continues we may not return even though we love the restaurant.

As usual we had a fab night. Service always very good, lovely food and free bottle of wine 😀 Always a good atmosphere even on a Monday!

Good food well prepared. Knowledgeable staff -.a firm favourite and with an eccellent choice of wines. Steaks especially tasty and we all liked the crime caramel

We had a really tasty meal, lots of choice and great service ! The steak was perfectly cooked and the vegetables plentiful. Desserts were wonderful , and beautifully presented!

Unfortunately far too noisy. There were a couple of very loud and boisterous groups near our table. We had to stop talking ourselves several times because it was impossible to hear anything but the loud other table groups.

Always get the best service and food at Côte in York. The staff are efficient and very friendly. I visit regularly and enjoy it every time

Food and service generally very good. Dessert menu is disappointing. Additional ice cream and sorbet choices would be good. Perhaps also a fresh fruit dessert

The dinner was part of my birthday celebrations and I choose Cote from experience. The meal was OK, but lacked something and was not up to the usual standard. wine OK and service lacking bit of spark. Still worth a recommendation but only just, needs to regain its mojo.

Lovely ambiance, fantastic service, beautiful food, amazing value..... as always. We were visiting york for half term with an Italian guest and it was such a hit..... a meal in Côte never fails.

Good meal, good service. Enjoyed the meal and ambience but seating arrangements just a bit squashed in. Will definitely eat there again. Like the reward system.

Usual high standard. Vibrant restaurant, a little louder than other we have visited due to the shape and ceiling height of rear space. Well located by the Minster.

The restaurant was closed due to malfunctioning toilets. We had travelled to York specially for shopping and to have lunch at Cote. A totally spoilt day.

Lovely food. Always same excellent standard. The staff are so friendly and efficient. Never have to ask for anything. This is Our favourite restaurant and love eating there.

The Food was very enjoyable, the surroundings average and two out of three staff we had were very good. Overall it was worth the money. Glad we booked as it was very busy on Saturday lunchtime.

We 3 are still here! Having had a delicious lunch thank you which has done us all good. We are relaxing just before leaving. We enjoyed it a lot.

Lovely food at a very reasonable price and excellent service. I was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen for some time and there was absolutely no feeling of having leave. We finished the meal and kept chatting for some considerable time. Would highly recommend.

All the food was great and overall cost was reasonable. The service was very good. We really enjoyed our evening there and will go again

Lovely restaurant. We had the 'early bird' menu before going to a gig and were really happy with the quality and price. The restaurant was pretty much full but there were plenty of staff on hand and the service was very good. I would definitely eat there again.

This restaurant has excellent service and consistently delicious food. We were a party of 4 and all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambience. We booked on line, which was worthwhile as the restaurant was busy.

Excellent as always....friends travelled from Doncaster to help celebrate my birthday......Pierre organised a super table and Madeline presented us with complimentary ' bubbly '...... great meal choices.....the Artichoke Gratin was splendid.......went through the menu and finished with a round of coffees . Would we come again.......whats not to like......when elsewhere is so poor on service and food !

Crepes were cold the chocolate hard and the texture of rubber, I complained . The manager said this is how we serve them. Wasn't bothered.

Reliable food presented with care and awareness of the customers. It is always a good experience when we eat out at Cote. The special fish dish was excellent.
