As usual - a great welcome, friendly staff, lovely food and a good atmosphere. always my go to place when I'm in York for lunch or whatever with friends.

The waiter kept forgetting our gluten free bread and didn’t ask about about replacing our breakfast with other items when we said we were gluten free. So we didn’t get any sausage however wasn’t asked if was want to replace it with something else like we have experienced in other Cotes we have to

Lovely setting good service and faultless meal. The Garlic Chicken is exceptional as is the starter Calamari. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Reasonable prices too.

Efficient and friendly service and selection and quality of food is excellent. This, in my opinion, is by far the best reasonably priced restaurant in York.

This is, in my view, one of the better restaurants in York. The atmosphere is good if a little noisy and the service is excellent. The set menu is varied and good value. Wines by the glass are not cheap. Cooking is good and food served hot where appropriate- linen napkins are a nice touch. French onion soup was a little thick but well flavoured. Fish Parmentier was excellent with lots of fish but the Creme Caramel was disappointing not being the classis egg custard but more like Angel Delight !

We visited early in the evening at 5pm when it was very quiet. Service was excellent and our daughter was provided with the gluten-free menu when she said she tried to avoid wheat. It was a shame, I felt, that the gluten-free menu for the offer and Prestige menus seemed largely just to omit the items that included gluten rather than e,g, providing another dessert to replace the one removed. Good atmosphere and lovely food.

Had a great time here, marble table ornate deco. Location right in the mid of the one thousand years old city center, deep in the ancient and glorious atmosphere. Will come here before 7pm for good offers.

Once again a very pleasurable experience at Cote York. No fuss, no noise, no mistakes, good food served French style, simple but quality and a lovely bottle of wine.

Excellent food and service as always. Cote's secret is it's consistency, seldom fails to please . We visit very regularly and have introduced several of our friends to the restaurant.

I was not aware there was a set menu for New Year’s Eve , if I had I would not have booked. And felt pressured into staying

Food was excellent. Apart from the fact it was in York, it felt authentically French. Nice ambience. It says a minimum of 25 words, but I have said everything I want to say in 17.

Lovely meal as usual, just wish when they say the 25% gratuity is optional that they actually give you the option instead of putting the full amount on the card machine!!

We love Cote and enjoy the fact that we can rely on the service and quality of the food and Cote in York was no exception. My Moules were delicious and best I had had for a long while. Thank you

Good service, good food, apart from the creme brulee which was very burnt. Would go again. Our grandchildren all enjoyed the experience,especially the roast duck breast.

Very good meal, good value, especially as I am a coeliac. Nice atmosphere for New Year s Eve. went to the Minster but bit disappointing no lights, fireworks were too far away.

We had an early evening meal from the à la carte and everything was delicious. There were four of us who each chose different dishes but we were all very pleased with our choices. The service was great- professional but very friendly.

We were glad that we had booked a table . They were very busy and the service was extremely slow and not well coordinated. The food itself was very good but the time taken was not really acceptable.

Excellent food, drink and service. Even the set menus were very good. We will certainly be returning. Many thanks to all the staff who make the evening enjoyable.

One of our party has gone vegan. He asked for a slightly different food offering which was dealt with properly and efficiently. The rest of us enjoyed the food and wine. The whole evening was very pleasant with the staff attentive and cheerful.

An oasis in the heart of a bustling York, 2 weeks before Christmas. Busy, yes, but the staff were as excellent, and the food as beautiful as always. A hearty, oh so tasty French Onion soup followed by tender and flavoursome sirloin steak, husband, and succulent Breton chicken, me. We both finished with gooey chocolate fondant and it was all washed down with a very nice bottle of Sancerre rose. Never had anything less than a very good meal at any Cote and the staff are second to none. Long may that continue.

For a good selection of fine french food at reasonable prices. The service has always been good, the place is charming and not too loud. The only downside is the service charge added to everything, which you can ask them to remove in part or in full, but it does go to those serving you so I usually reflect the amount on the service and food I receive.

Booked for an early supper as I had an appointment later, the starter arrived encouragingly early but that was followed by a forty five minute wait for the main course. When it eventually arrived the steak lacked seasoning and flavour.

Central location. Polite and efficient service. Tasty food which is good value. Service charge included in bill. We had a very pleasant lunch. Would recommend.

The delicious meal and l’ambience joyeuse were more than slightly marred by the incessant demand for feedback three hours later. Would recommend to a friend.

I had french onion soup and rib eye steak both tasted burnt with the steak I wasn’t sure the grill had been washed properly I have no idea what happened to the soup as I had it a week before in London and it was really good.

It’s a nice restaurant. Nice food. Nice service. It was a bit busy but it didn’t affect food or service. We enjoyed our food !

Always friendly and efficient; tasty food and good wine a’plenty, this is a regular haunt for our family. Staff always do their best to accommodate any requests and make us feel welcome.

Lovely leisurely lunch with good table looking out on Low Petergate. Nice food, but I do have problems with cream based sauces eg with chicken today. Can we have alternative sauce on offer please!

A good menu, with lots of choice of dishes, but it can get a bit noisy in early evening when the place is full. A lot quieter at lunchtime

Food as always was excellent and service by all of the waiting staff was very positive indeed. Only minor quibbles were that the restaurant was a little on the cold side (could’ve done with turning the heating up a notch) and also the waiting staff could’ve challenged some inappropriate content on a Hen Do table. This is particularly important when young children are about. Other than that though another great experience at Cote York. Thanks.

Not the first time we've eaten at cote, but yet again it did not disappoint, food was excellent and the ambiance was great. Will definitely eat at cote again.

A good meal at reasonable price with good and cheerful service. Good value for money. We are reasonably regular customers and will continue to use Cote in the future.
