Côte Wokingham

This is the first negative review I have ever done for Cote. We are usually very pleased with our experiences but not this time. We had ordered tea on arrival and then we usually have a second pot midway through the meal. On this occasion we had to ask 3 times where our tea was and eventually were told they did not have any clean teapots! Although they were very apologetic the tea didn’t arrive until we had completely finished our food. The staff were clearly under pressure and were overheard them grumbling with each other. Not the best experience but it will not put us off going back, in fact we are returning today.

Another good dining experience. Food quality and service up to its usual high standard.

Food was fine, surprised I was charged for a full two course menu plus a separate dessert when I just changed the dessert selection.

5 out of 6 stars only negative is we had to leave early as the table was needed!

A relaxing and very satisfying meal, chosen from a menu with plenty of choice in a great atmosphere, with attentive service.

Our meal wasn’t without some problems but the way in which it was dealt with was excellent. I ordered a ribeye steak cooked medium however when it arrived it was over cooked and was a dry well done steak rather than what I had ordered. I made our waitress aware of the problem who agreed that it wasn’t what I had ordered and not only offered to replace it with another meal but she also offered to replace my partners fillet steak meal so that we were not eating separately. All we had to do was obviously wait for new meals to be cooked which we agreed to. A few minutes later two complimentary glasses of wine arrived at our table. As promised, after around fifteen minutes, two replacement meals arrived however my steak had now gone from over cooked to undercooked and it was more like rare than medium however I was happy to eat it. Once again, our waitress agreed that it wasn‘t cooked as ordered however it was very tasty and didn’t spoil our enjoyment of the night out. When we asked for the bill, to our surprise my steak had been deducted and we were not charged for it. We were not expecting this and I said that I was happy to pay but our waitress insisted that my meal wasn’t right and therefor I shouldn’t pay for it. I have to say that I am very impressed with the way that everything was dealt with. Mistakes happen but the response to our problems was fantastic and a real credit to both the staff and the culture of Côte. We have always been fans of your restaurants and this experience has only reinforced our views. Well done.

Our son was over from the usa For a few days, we haven't seen him for some 2 years. We wanted to eat somewhere that allowed us to talk in a pleasant atmosphere, provided excellent service and good food. Cote in Wokingham delivered all of these and more.

I always enjoy Cote with the exception of the noise levels. Would it be possible to install some sort of sound damping materials to reduce this problem?

Service was slow and it was very noisy at times you couldn't hear the people you were with speak.

Lovely atmosphere...service was very good despite being busy....food in general good apart from my wife ordered a steak medium rare and it arrived overcooked - had to be returned and meant that we both ate our main courses alone!

Enjoyed a lovely evening with friends. Staff were great and the ambience at the Wokingham Cote branch is always relaxed yet buzzing. Food very good, my only request would be please Cary the veggie options as you’ve been serving the same choices for a long time. 👍

We had a lovely family meal at the Cote Brasserie in Wokingham. This was our first visit and we were delighted with the range on the menu, the tastiness of each meal and the service. Try the Pork Belly - it’s delicious!

As usual it was another very enjoyable meal with excellent service .

Lovely setting. Packed for celebrations. Unfortunately, as it was packed, the noise level became unbearable and we were relieved when we could finally leave. Food great. Always love hot plates.

Very good overall. The loud jazz saxophone music wasn't a good choice for a lunchtime. Something more French and melodic in the background would be more suitable. French art on the walls would be nice be it music hall posters or other styles of art.

We went with friends and enjoyed the meal very much. The staff were excellent. Like too many eating places today, the noise level was much too high. You can hardly hear what is being said on your table.

We were welcomed warmly with a smile and the greeter had remembered my request for a table at the front due to my husband having a hearing problem. Everything was delicious, presented well and came to the table in a timely fashion. The restaurant and loos were spotless, as usual. A perfect evening!

CONS: Very noisy, unnecessarily loud and annoying background music, servers banging into the back of a guests chair every time they walked past PROS: fantastic food, very attentive service I’d go back for the quality of the dishes and front of house service, but I would t rush back because of the noise, don’t go here for a quiet, romantic dinner.

Nice food and ambience but surprisingly expensive. Four eating a starter, steak main and 2 cheap wines and 4 beers was £220 :(

Love Cote in Wokingham. Can get a little busy but the lovely staff always cope very well and service is excellent. Food and atmosphere is lovely. Love the lunchtime menu which is very reasonably priced but the cost of drinks does bump up the price. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat.

We love Cote and have visited 17 Cote branches.The food and service is consistently good and we like the changing menus.Lunch was very good today,the only negative being the braised endive, which was truly horrible. The waiter handled my complaint very well, offering a different vegetable, which I declined. He then deducted the price of the pudding, which as very fairThe Ling cod was a new experience and was excellent.

Lovely table, fantastic food and not rushed. We all loved it and hope to be back again soon. Very Happy Festive Season. Best wishes

Everything was great as usual - the mood music (Jazz) wasn't to our taste

Service was good and friendly. Unfortunately the pork belly was unavailable, which was one of the reasons for choosing Côte. Chicken liver parfait was good. Crab mayonnaise had little flavour of crab and mixing the avocado into it made into a kind of slop with no texture. Some garnish would have been nice. The cassoulet was ok, but not as rich as in France. The duck was cooked pink, which was fine, but not that tender. It was also served sliced, so no nice crispy skin. Altogether it was a rather mediocre meal.

We had a lovely meal. Will definitely recommend to friends an family and hope to return soon.
