Côte Welwyn Garden City

Food was ok when we got it, just seemed to take a long time to get it, then no one came around at end of meal to see if I wanted the coffe yet which was part of what I had paid for, staff looked a bit stretched, maybe short staffed due to holiday weekend, would we return? Yes to try again to see if it was just a one off

Food as normal was faultless. However the service was not. I strongly suspect the restaurant was understaffed. At which point stop walkins. Knowing what prebooked people you have. We never got offered the preserves to have with our toast. We asked twice for our tea/coffee which finally came after we went to front desk. And had finished our breakfast. The guy serving us wasnt overly happy/cheerful, maybe over worked. To finish on a positive the food was exceptional as always. It wont stop is going back as we have had superb experiences in the past. Please think about staff to customer ratios. I feel you were overwhelmed this morning. :(

Nice atmosphere with pleasant greeting on arrival. The food was excellent and served well. The only 'slight' issue was the speed of the service, far to quick. We would have preferred to savour our food for longer, I was still chewing when the server came to collect the plates and dishes !!.

Lovely meal, as ever. Tasty apéritif, great service and atmosphere.

The food as ever was excellent but we felt the service was a little lacking, which was surprising as we were eating at 2.30 which was after the main lunchtime rush. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable experience.

Always a great place for breakfast. Working my way through the menu with a different choice on each visit. The French breakfast was delicious & the boudin noir amazingly tasty. Friendly helpful staff & a great location.

Lovely lunch with my friend... She so loved the fish pie... Not even going to spell it lol... Mussels were lush..... Service was amazing thank you.

We come here frequently but last night was the first time that the person showing us to our table was indifferent almost to the point of being arrogant. Not a pleasant first impression. I hope he's not like this to all guests. Food and everything else was faultless, as usual.

My wife and I dined at Cote, Welwyn Garden City, on her birthday - as ever, we had a friendly welcome from Natalya, the manager, and her staff, who arranged a complimentary glass of fizz and a birthday candle (and rendition of "Happy Birthday"!) with dessert. As ever, the food was excellent, and atmosphere relaxed. We have eaten here many times (as have members of our family!) and it never fails to deliver. By the way, we were at the same Cote in WGC on 11 July with a large party - we posted a review shorty afterwards but didn't include which Cote it was so they may not have picked it up; we had excellent service and food on that occasion too, with Natalya in charge. She is clearly a very good manager.

I am getting fed up with fillingin surveys which I think are only there to make money for the company that sells the service to th e cliebt

the waiter was very friendly and helpful. He did have too many tables to serve, but tried very hard. We enjoyed the meal, and the food is always reliable in Cote. It was nice to be offered a free cocktail with our meal. Parking is good, so another plus!

After several previous visits to Cotes which is usually very good we found the evening very disappointing .

As always, a lovely meal in a great atmosphere with excellent service.

The food was superb interms of quality and flavour. The service was excellent. The staff were knowledgable and attended to our every need. Over all a really pleasurable dining experience.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we will certainly return again. The decor is very modern and the tables are nicely spaced to give you a relaxing evening. The menu offers a lovely choice of food and i chose the Breton fish stew for my mains which tasted wonderful and if you are a seafood lover,then you must try this dish.

My only criticism was the loud music. Totally unnecessary as hard to hear your friends.

Had the most incredible experience at Cote Welwyn GC tonight. The manager, Maya, deserves real praise. I’d booked a table this morning online. I’m a Coeliac and know how great your gluten free menu is. Anyway, in the special requests section of my booking I explained that I was taking my best friend out for dinner as a special treat cos she’s recently lost her dad. I just said if there was anything they could do to make it a bit special for her, that would be amazing. I left it at that and didn’t really think any more of it. On arrival the lovely manager - Maya - took us to a specially tucked away table in a quiet part of the restaurant. There was a bouquet of flowers waiting in an ice bucket. She then announced she was going to bring over some champagne. My friend was so touched and I thought, great happy to pay for this - so lovely to feel valued. Had delicious meal where Maya and all her staff really looked after us, gave us loads of time and space to talk and we both enjoyed our food. Maya also helped with the menu choices as a Coeliac (who is also pregnant) some options were a bit tricky! After asking for the bill, I discovered to my surprise and delight that the champagne was taken off as a “goodwill gesture” and no mention of the flowers. I cannot thank Maya and the Welwyn staff enough - and for the customer focus Cote evidently pride themselves of. It has been an awful time for my friend, and hard for me as I don’t live locally so don’t feel like I’ve been around enough for her. You’ve made our evening really special and I will be singing Cote’s praises for a long time.

Good food and service Especially loved the Tarte Fines aux pommes, the bread and the merlot.
