Côte Shrewsbury

Back at the Cote Shrewsbury again, and again a very very good lunch, served by the lovely staff. Good choice on menu as always. Nice busy atmosphere.

Excellent welcome by staff on the door. Given a choice of table which is always nice. Thoroughly enjoyed the food also. Good value for money if the food is rather basic.

Outstanding service, staff are willing to take the time to talk to customers and are able to offer help and advice about what is on the menu.

For a pre theatre menu I would have expected the service to be a little quicker. At least 2 of my companions would have had a dessert but we ran out of time. With Previous experiences of Pre theatre meuns 2 hours has been more than enough time for a set 3 course menu. All of the food was very good but I would have liked to see some vegetables or small salad with my main (a rather dried out piece of chicken and a Pot of French Fries) rather than a small pile of lettuce. The discretionary 12.5% service charge that is automatically added to the Bill is excesive, If I was to spend an evening in the resturant then maybe, but not on the set Menu's. We left a tip but not the £16.00 that was 'suggested'. I always find this system annoying - I do not want to be told how much tip I should leave.

Lovely meal excellent service. Will definitely go again. The young man serving us was brilliant. Have been before for lunch and breakfast. Always the same quality

Excellent service and. Wonderful atmosphere. The food was possibly not as good as we had expected however. The steaks were very fatty and the portions were smaller than expected.

Staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating and the food was amazing! Would highly recommend! Me and my family really enjoyed our evening, lovely place to eat!

Note - this trip was an invite back from the manager following an overall negative experience in February. I tried to edit that review to reflect this, but couldn't see how. This second experience of Cote Shrewsbury was a world apart from my family's first visit. Our host (sorry can't remember his name), and waiter for the evening, was friendly, attentive (but not over the top), and helpful - we were treated really well. The food was excellent quality as per the previous experience, although still on the expensive side. It wouldn't be my first-choice restaurant in town, but our return trip certainly made amends for our experience in February. I've given 5/6 because of the obligatory addition of 12.5% service charge to the bill. As others have said, this makes you feel awkward if you'd rather not add this much to your bill.

We always have a great time at Cote. The food is super, and the staff are unfailingly helpful and charming. I heartily recommend it for a great night out.

Greeting excellent, James is a great host. Service was spot on too. But the food is to die for. Great relaxed atmosphere, no feeling that you rushed in any way.

Pleasant meal in a good restaurant. I would particularly rate the staff who were very helpful and attentive but not overly so. Excellent choice of food. Will more than likely be visiting again soon!

We visited this sister hotel in Norwich this week were so impressed thought we would try the Shrewsbury one. Quality all the way staff very attentive without being pushy, food just right when you look at helpings you think that's not much but because of the quality you eat it slower enjoy and digest it better and feel full.

Allowed my party of 6 to sit down early. Service attentive and food very good. Atmosphere conducive to a good evening out. Would thoroughly recommend.

Staff were friendly and professional. Food was lovely. Well priced. Good weather meant we could sit outside, which was a bonus. Will be going again!

Extremely disappointed ordered the May special starter of king prawns which we had ordered in Cobham and Guildford it was a few warm prawns no dressing or very little and covered with undressed salad leaves,next course when we queried why no garnish to the chicken was told “oh we could add parsley “manager didn’t come forward we decided not to go for desert we had our aperitif deducted from bill but this did not make up from a very disappointing lunch especially as I had said we must go to Côte brasserie it is so great, won’t go back

Always a good place to eat, very good service and choices on their menu. Restaurant was full so lots of atmosphere. Really enjoyable meal. We will return again

NICE FOOD, BIG PORTIONS. NEED TO ASK IF CUSTOMERS WOULD LIKE A WAIT BETWEEN COURSES. WE WERE NOT GIVEN THE OPTION. NEED A BIT MORE FOCUS ON CLEANING OF TABLES- A LOT OF DUST AROUND LAP SHADES AND WALL AREA.

There was no faulting the food unfortunately the service regarding drinks was very slow ( we waited 30mins for water and beers). This was our second visit and certainly wont be our last, we'll probably choose to go at a less busy time next time.

We have had good experiences several times previously but this time very disappointing. Side dishes did not arrive with the mains. After asking one arrived cold. Both after much of meal eaten. Steak was not up to the usual quality. Staff were made aware but not till bill arrived did we know that the steak and sides were not being charged for. The managerial staff we think should have taken the time to come and apologise during our meal and let us know about not charging. We did have desserts which were very good but all the while we were a bit stressed at having to make such complaints and not have any response from managers.

Very good service and an excellent brioche burger. My lunch companions also said the omelettes were very very good. Cold tap water appeared without having to ask and was efficiently replenished when empty

As ever, the food was delicious and the staff and service level were excellent. We found ourselves in a very warm and noisy part of the restaurant and the staff very kindly moved us to a quieter, cooler table near the entrance where we had a lovely evening.

Our visit tonight was 100% The service from the gentleman who attended to our table was flawless and he was also a pleasure to watch when serving other customers. Our food was perfect and the ambiance of the restaurant was perfect also. A lovely evening in all areas. Many thanks

The staff were excellent, my fish stew was delicious and my husbands rare fillet steak was cooked to perfection. My only criticism was the lemon cremme brûlée tasted somewhat chemical, not sure if they used lemon flavouring instead of real lemons. Overall very good for a special meal out, as it was a little on the expensive side £118 for two, including wine and a glass of bubbles. Overall a good 7*

Have ben to Cote many times and food and service never disappoint Nice location opposite Old Market Hall - sitting outside when the sun shines and nice clean modern interior Menu is varied with special menus at weekends etc - staff are always cheerful bright and efficient

We were a party of four and we all enjoyed our meals. The only fault was my risotto was very peppery and I drank a huge amount of water. having said that I would order it again in the hope that it was less peppery!

Very good experience, excellent food and service. The only down side was the 12.5% gratuity was added to your bill with out you being asked. I Know you can say take it off but it is not really part of the experience, I would much rather leave a cash tip.

Taking family there for their 1st time at Cote.Unfortunately due to short staffing, wait for food was long & the ordered wine forgotten until reminded which then came rather late for enjoyment with the meal.However the food was as usual faultless & enjoyed by all

Overall, an enjoyable night out. However, on entering we were not overly welcome - 'dumped' at a small table right by the exit! However, things did improve as the food and service was very good.

Not a good experience. I ordered a ribeye steak 🥩- medium - I received a well-done one. Service left a lot to be desired - very slow, they were not busy. Won’t be returning

Nice atmosphere but it is very loud if it is busy and you want to chat. Overall it is okay and I would go again although personally I prefer somewhere quieter.
