Let down by service. Nice welcome and shown to table by manager who advised server would be coming over shortly. Server didn’t get to table in timescale which was picked up with manger who came over and took our order. I was very thirsty and asked for some tap water with the wine order. Manager made a point of commenting the tap water was complimentary. I know this, I frequent Cote regularly. Water was brought over and another comment ‘here’s your complimentary tap water ‘ made. Another gentleman came over ( the only serving staff who engaged in conversation ) very professionally explained the wine and went through the tasting. Top marks. I ordered the chicken liver pate and moule mariniere with some bread to soak up the delicious sauce you get with moule. The first time our server arrived was to deliver my moule. We hadn’t had our starters!!!. The moule was taken away and our starters put down with our server saying she was told to bring them over now by a colleague. ?? Starters finished (delicious) and my companions sea bass put down and then my moules with the server making a point of saying to me only ‘be careful your plate is extremely hot’. I therefore asked why my plate was significantly hotter than my companions and I asked if these were the original mussels delivered and had been sitting under a hot lamp all this time. She said do you not want be to take the lid off then and I replied I’d like you to check that these are fresh mussels. She came back saying I was told they were for someone else and then said she sent the originals back down so the story wasn’t tying up here but she said chef had sent up a new batch but she hadn’t seen them so can only go on his word. The dish was presented. Not the standard moule I am used to. About 12-15 mussels on a plate not runny garlic and shallots sauce. The mussels were a bit dry and the sauce was like a thick (oddly cheesy ) sauce. And very little of it. Server came over and asked is everything ok and I said it’s just ok to which she just replied thank you and left. You would expect a bit of probing here to identify the problem. When the dishes were removed she asked again if everything was ok and I commented that I wasn’t convinced the mussels were freshly made and she went over her story before of not seeing them. She just sent them back down so didnt know said ‘thank you’ quite curtly and disappeared. Never to be seen again. I asked for the bill and the manager appeared saying she had been made aware I wasn’t happy with my main course and wanted to assure me she had seen the original mussels thrown away and a new batch made. That’s great, but I would have loved that assurance when the I originally queried it and before I started eating the dish unconvinced. Not enjoyable. However as a kind gesture she removed the charge of the mussels, but for me the overall experience had been disappointing. Would I recommend cote. Yes. Would in recommend vote Shrewsbury. No! which is a real shame.

A good welcome , and great menu choice. Unfortunately they missed one starter, so one of us had to wait. Food standard was very good. Sadly when it came to the bill a gratuity is added (optional) but the lady just told me the amount at first al total, so therefore they recieved £8.40 tip off our table of four. Thou we normally always tip , felt put out about this , friends felt the same. Due to this we would not recommend the restaurant, or make a return visit.

Superb, was out for my fiancé’s Birthday the food could not have been better, perfect balance of flavour. The staff were wonderfully attentive and could not have done more to make our evening more perfect. The only downside was having to sit next to a couple of battle axes who were clearly after a free dinner, claiming that the stakes they we served were not rib-eye when clearly they were.

Visited for for our sons 11th birthday. He was made to feel important and enjoyed his birthday decorated chocolate fondant and happy birthday song. Thank you.

Can I say that the service and food could not of been better. Thank you all very much for a great evening. See you all again soon.👍👍

I had a rib eye steak. I asked for it to be well done and it was perfect, and really tender!! Husband enjoyed the lobster, service was just right, we didn't have to wait for service even though it was a busy Saturday night. Will definitely return.

Lovely food, good selection, served in pleasant surroundings. The service was excellent, it was paced just right, was friendly and helpful and skilfully carried out.
