Côte Salisbury

I booked about a month in advance a table for 2 for Valentine’s Day, the service is never good but the food always is. We were greeted by the manager and shown to our table. About 5 minutes later a miserable looking young waiter approached the table asking us if we wanted to order any drinks. We ordered a bottle of Taittinger, our starters and mains, however were not given the chance to order a dessert which comes with the set menu on Valentine’s Day. The wine arrives in a bucket of luke warm water, no ice. We asked for this to be rectified, and someone comes over and chucks a glass full of ice cubes in there (rather than replace the bucket). Our starters of prawn gratinee came which were really lovely. 15 or so minutes after we’d finished our starters, the plates were taken away, the server not asking how it was or if we enjoyed it. Another 10 or so minutes later comes the 2 steaks, ‘1 rare and 1 medium’. The rare was for me, but my fiancée pointed out he ordered medium rare. Shockingly, the waiter (strange Mohawk style hair and tacky lips tattoo on his neck) insisted we cut into our steaks in front of him to see how they were cooked. We argued the point that this was a disgusting thing to request from a diner however I decided we should just acquiesce as I was starving. My fiancé's steak was definitely over cooked, so both we sent back. 15 minutes later, a different waiter brings back THE EXACT SAME STEAKS WITH THE CUTS IN FROM EARLIER. The waiter profusely apologised, citing the reason for this error as ‘I didn’t serve you them earlier’. The manager came over to apologise offering us vouchers etc and we both felt immensely sorry for her, having watched her spend her evening apologising for her staff. At one point, she had to tell the lady at the table next to her that the kitchen staff were REFUSING to cook from the a la carte menu despite her arriving on time to order from that menu! A girl who was also celebrating Valentine’s Day with her partner even approached me to say how disgusting the staff had treated us that evening. I have never in my life had such a bad experience at a restaurant. All the staff miserable, no eye contact or a simple ‘how was your meal’, no apologies for ruining our first Valentine’s Day dinner as an engaged couple; appalling.

Are meal was excellent staff were excellent very helpful and attentive would visit again and again the venu was very good close to town centre

Food good and excellent value for money. Staff could have been more attentive. No side plates for bread. Forgot to bring coffee I ordered. Throughout the evening we had to signal for attention rather than be waited on🙁

Had dinner in Cote Brasserie last night, food was very good, service was ok, always slow to get the first drinks order underway, this is always a missed opportunity to make customers comfortable, so they can read the menu and decide, water and the first drink fairly soon after you sit down!! We were sat between a party of 4 girls and a party of 10 who were celebrating a birthday, it was so noisy, my wife and I did not talk but just made signs at each other. I should have asked to be moved, it was quite unbearable, we left after 2 courses, shame,as the food was very good, there was plenty of space in the restaurant, clearly a lack of thought by the manager. couples want to sit and talk quietly, big groups are just loud, nothing wrong with that!! But groups should be kept away from couples.

We love your restaurant in Salisbury. We were sat at the window table in the low ceiling part of the building, we much prefer this to the lofty ceiling room! Always well looked after by Alex and the team. Food great as always and finished off beautifully with a complimentary bottle of Merlot! Tres Bien.

Such lovely staff...Cote, as usual you do recruit well. I had lamb which was delicious and my friend had tuna salad... she said the tuna was lovely but salad basic. We will be back though... Great atmosphere too!

As is always the case, Cote Salisbury provides a very enjoyable dining experience, with good food, very reasonably priced and a pleasant atmosphere. Not so full this evening, possibly due to the current freezing conditions on the roads.Staff are excellent and friendly. Consistently the best of the Côtés we visit- and all have been good.

Wonderful food matched by the same high level of service. Never been disappointed with a meal at Cote. We have visited York Harrogate Winchester & Salisbury Thank you

Lovely food, welcoming staff and delicious cocktails - what more would anyone want on a dark, wet Thursday? It's always reliable,with a choice of menus and monthly specials.

Staff numbers are too low. Since the restaurant opened the time taken to have the same meal has increased by 45%. Staff are now running around to try and cope with customers. We have been eating at Cote Salisbury 15 times a year or so but now we are considering to give it a miss- not an enjoyable experience any more. As we go out every week for lunch somewhere in the environs we shall be sorry to find another venue because of greed of management at Cote Head Office.

We have been to Cote in Salisbury many times but this time it was really disappointing. I booked online to claim the monthly offer of a free cocktail, and asked for a nice table for my mothers birthday. Table was nice, but service was terribly slow. With two young children we waited for over 30 minutes to get drinks, which were slow to be delivered and resulted in two seriously hungry children. We confirmed with staff that we had to order from the a la carte to redeem the offer, but disappointed that they couldn't extend the gesture to my mother (who ordered from the specials menu) due to the special occasion. We waited an absolute age for anyone to take the money for the bill and eventually had to go up and ask to pay. For the third time since you have started the offer, i was charged for the cocktail and had to ask for them to be taken off. This really isn't on and seems to be accepted procedure!! The restaurant was busy by the time we left (7pm) but we didn't have a great time. Food as always was lovely but senior staff very glum and we were left disappointed by whole experience.

We come here all the time and were so disappointed with our experience .Staff was unfriendly ,we waited along time until our order was taken , it was impossible to get water or a refill on our drinks. The table next to us left because they were not served. When the food finally arrived it was dreadful.

Thank you for making mothers day extra special.Lovely meal. very good value for money. Staff were fabulous. We will be back for sure. 5 star service for 3 star prices.

Unfortunately Cotê seems to be slipping downhill Food still good , waiting times getting longer , staff seem less experienced Seems to have deteriorated since Manager left soon time back From eating twice a week dropped to twice a month

Amazing - as always. Set lunch is fantastic value and the food is wonderful. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere is great. Will continue to visit on a regular basis

As usual , we were looked after very helpful and friendly staff. We are from London and dined at your restaurant pre theatre . Delicious and very tasty food was served and although very busy , the service was prompt .

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cote Brasserie, Salisbury - as always! Good food, atmosphere, friendly and professional staff. My friend and I will return again in four weeks time.

My first time in Salisbury and the meal was a lovely start to the weekend, the staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. Will definitely eat here again.

Cote is a really nice place to eat, that is tastefully decorated, food is of good quality but small portions & expensive, if prices & portion sizes improved would eat regularly there.

Brilliant and understanding waiting staffs. Very good knowledge of their wines and could recommend based on what we told them of what we like. Food was very good, portion is just right, not small by any means. The restaurant was clean.

Excellent lunch in a very busyCote today. We ate from the basic set menu and it was delicious. The service was efficient as always. Thank you - we shall return

Beautiful food, which is well cooked and well presented. 1st class service with friendly smiling staff who really look after you and dog friendly, what’s not to like.

Very enjoyable pre theatre supper. Swift and efficient service, friendly staff, good food, nice bustling atmosphere, but the wine could be cheaper to reflect it’s quality.

We enjoyed the food but the service really let it down - we waited half an hour before drinks arrived, the waitress was lukewarm and communication was extremely difficult (not assisted by the volume in the restaurant), the main courses arrived before the starters were finished but were then taken back to the kitchen because they contained sauces we hadn’t ordered, only to return five minutes later still with the sauces, which ended up being charged to us on the bill... very poor.

We ordered two starters the same - warm prawn salad - after twenty minute delay ONE arrived another fifteen minutes plus chase second arrived Main courses fine & one time. It shows Manageress has left !! Let's hope it improves

Food was good, service good. Very nice. Value for money not as good as usual as only a limited specials menu.

Love this place for Breakfast - always a good safe choice. Busy though so didn't get reserved table so need to book well in advance if have preferences.

A good time had by all that’s why we come to cote .

First time to this restaurant. Food and service was excellent. This was a quiet Sunday evening however so do not know how service would be at a busy time. I will definitely being going again.

Had latish lunch at 1.30pm , prawns & crab mayonnaise to start , followed by grilled chicken and Belly Pork All perfect Bit disappointed to see outside tables still dirty and unclean from breakfast with food under tables We’ve used Cotê since it opened and not seen things like this before

We eat quite often at Cote and really enjoy it. However today we had allowed 1hr 20mins for a two course meal prior to going to the theatre. The order was taken fairly promptly and the first course arrived within 10 minutes but the main course then took 40 minutes after the first course had been tidied up. As a result we had to have coffee at the same time as the main course and didn't have time to enjoy the meal or indeed finish it. I nearly removed the 12.5% gratuity which is built in to the bill but we didn't have time and it would not have been fair on the waitress as the delay wasn't her fault.

Food was okay ish and service was very hit and miss. My main was overcooked which is a shame and the portion sizes were fairly small

Hello Never been to Cote in Salisbury before. The waitress was excellent. The seat inside half way along the front by the wall was surrounded by lots of noise - we could hardly hear each other talk. Perhaps different furnishings etc to soak up the noise. We had the £11.50 lunch menu and the chicken was tough to eat - not at all succulent. We also had the courgette gougons for starters which were ok but very tasteless. We also were not impressed with the automatically added tip - we payed it but on reflection should have complained. This is so unlike any experience I have had before with Cote in Bath and Norwich and I felt slightly embarrassed as I took two newbies to Cote who were also disappointed as one of them is a vegan and there are no specific vegan dishes - only vegetarian. Hope you can cheer me up with some positive feedback?

Cote was pretty crowded today so we couldn’t sit in the front near the window but in the back. However, the service was still very good and our meal was delicious! It had thinned out by the time we’d finished eating so we were able to have our coffee in relaxed surroundings. All in all, a very enjoyable lunch.

One very miserable waitress, most were great, but slow service. Side order of veg arrived after we’d finished the main. All seemed a bit chaotic.

We had good service to start with but as the restaurant got busier it wasn’t so good. Also the sardines one of us had for a starter was disappointing due to the small portion and there was a delay with 2 of our mains. We didn’t stay for desert as planned as nobody came to take away our main course plates so we went to find someone to pay and left.

A lovely catch-up meal with delicious food, wines, coffee and Shrove Tuesday pancakes - a real treat! We especially enjoyed the breton chicken and being looked after so well.

Always our favourite place for pre-theatre dining. An excellent meal, as always. Wonderful food, attentive staff, good atmosphere. Only sorry we didn’t have time for dessert! We’ll be back soon.

Delicious food well cooked and served quickly with cheerful and friendly efficiency. The menu offers an interesting range of choices including vegetarian yet is not so vast as to be bewildering. Our party of 5 had a variety of dishes across 3 courses and all were enjoyed greatly. Wine selection presented in a novel way that assists selection, priced sensibly. A most enjoyable meal and a perfect way to dine out on my birthday.

We had a great experience with attentive happy staff. Tableware was clean the food was delicious and arrived hot. Will definitely return to this restaurant.

Delicious meal, excellent service ,wonderful value for money. We can always depend on the same high standard every visit not only in Salisbury but also in Farnham when we visit our son and family. We really appreciate this consistently high standard.
