Haven’t been to Cote for a very long time and thought we would give it another go. Chose the set menu. Lots of pushing from the staff for extras, do you want this, do you want that, you need sides etc. Weren’t offered a drink whilst we looked at the menus. Straight in on wanting to take our food order. Starters came before we’d finished the olives we felt we had to have and within a very short space of time. Mains arrived practically as the starters were cleared away. We declined the offer of dessert which was again offered immediately - we may have had some had we not been rushed through the other two courses. It then took 20 mins to attract someone to bring us the bill and and then pay. Service charge was added to the bill. No I didn’t want to pay it. We were served by several different people, all polite enough but far from attentive and engaging. Felt I couldn’t ask for the service charge to be removed when asked ‘is the bill ok for you’ felt more of a challenge than a genuine questions. So a early evening supper set menu ended up costing £15 more than expected due to the persuaded extras and service charge. Probably won’t be rushing back.

My daughter and I had a delicious lunch at Cote today, we had French onion soup, duck pate then we both had the poulet grille. Many thanks for the surprise welcome drink for my daughter's birthday!

The food was good as was the service however I think you should ask if the customer wants to have a service charge added. I prefer to give cash as I can't be sure that the charge will be passed on to staff. Also by paying cash the will not be taxed on their tips

This was my third booking at Cote Salisbury in six weeks. We went as a couple for my husband’s birthday The food was very good as usual except for a couple of pieces of dry toasted gluten free bread for which I was charged £1.85. Our meal was interrupted while we were eating our main course by the staff noisily moving a table from the other side of the room to add to two tables next to us to make a table for seven with four place settings along from my husband on the banquette. As the seven guests arrived it was very clear that there was not going to going to be enough room for four people to sit comfortably on the banquette. The four ladies squeezed through the space between the tables and the ones on the opposite side also came through to put their coats on the back of the banquette. This really disrupted our meal as they were very close to us and had no way to get to their seats other than to squeeze past us. We really felt we had to get up and go as the diners on the next table kept staring at us. If I had been them I would have been thinking they would get our table as it was the obvious thing to do. I tried explaining this to the man who took my payment but he was completely uninterested and dismissive of my complaint which was caused by the staff’s actions in trying to squeeze as many people in as possible. I would rather not have paid the service charge but I did not want to argue with the man who took my money - his attitude alone was enough to make me prefer not to pay the gratuity. Getting your meal in relative peace is what I expect and should be part of the service.

A superb birthday treat to have a well cooked English breakfast. Using the Formule, it provides excellent value too.

Food good as always. Our waitress was a bit offhand, perhaps an off day but not bad enough to complain personally but made me wonder about the built in service charge.

The waitress who served us needs training, she appeared to dislike her job. Quite a few bones in the fish dish unfortunately.

Seven ladies on a day out, arrived 1.5 hours early for our booked table (it was cold and we had been on our feet for hours). No problem. Table ready in a few minutes, lovely food, charming friendly staff. Slight problem with pre-order but sorted very quickly. Côte HO you need to make the online pre-order form able to access the gluten-free options. Certainly the Christmas menu does not allow this hence our slight hitch but it was handled well.

Another great meal before going to see Robin Hood at the Playhouse. I had been wanting to try Cote's take on Tournedos Rossini since it was added to the menu and although it was a little way away from the real thing it was a very good interpretation and my piece of fillet was exceptional and cooked just to my liking. Using Duck Liver Pate instead of a sliver of Foie Gras is risky due to issues with texture and crumbing of the pate as it gets a little more cooking but I really enjoyed the dish. The kitchen needs to ensure that plates are hot to begin with in view of the long journey across Salisbury from the kitchen. Loved our Kir Royale also but the Creme de Cassis bottle must be running out either that or the bottle is only looking at the Sparkling Wine. Theo looked after us on this occasion and what a great job he did as did the entire team who work hard to ensure we continue to love Cote Salisbury.

Great food and ambience. Most waiting staff were excellent but one in particular was a little annoying. He asked us 3 times if we wanted another bottle of wine. Maybe a little fine tuning needed on his willingness to please (too hard)

I've been many times before. Just felt a little bit hemmed in by nearest tables today/ I don't know if that was because they had squeezed extra tables in at a busy time, or if I'd just not sat in that exact spot before.

Very pleasant staff. A bit noisy because very busy. Food good value for money as always but mussels served with Sea Bass were cold! I rather object to 12.5% being automtically added on to the bill for service. If the service is good, as it should be, I will reward it.

We enjoyed our meal as always. Our only suggestion is that maybe they could have a separate area for families with kids.
