Lovely restaurant with excellent service. Food and drink is of a good standard. A convenient location next to shops and riverside. Afternoon and early evening menu is great value.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to the theatre. It is such a pleasant restaurant with great service and food at such a good price.

Fabulous food and excellent service!! I am looking forward to my next visit. The Waiters were extremely helpful advising on special offers and wine menu.

The service was extremely slow and the food was not up to standard. The fish made my girlfriend ill the next morning. Usually it is better than that.

The staff are friendly and efficient but the food is just a bit too pricey for what you get. The side dish did not arrive with the main dish so the waiter said we wouldn't be charged for it. This was a nice gesture. It's a pity that it hadn't been cooked enough though. I also find it annoying when the bill turns up with the optional tip added. I think waiters should ask whether you would like to pay this instead of assuming it's OK to include it.

Perfect service and lovely meal. Our waiter was attentive and when we asked for something to be changed he was to fully meet our demands. I would definitely go back again.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, good food. The menu doesn't change to often and the dishes they have are well done and not too fancy. Always a reliable place to go and the atmosphere in the evening for dinner is nice, you can sit and talk and the restaurant has a good buzz to it.

We did not go to Cotes at the end. Did call twice to cancel but was kept on hold for ages. Perhaps next time we will go.

The food was very good. The service was also good. All six of us enjoyed the experience.They also catered very well in providing a gluten free meal for one of the attendees.

There was a group of 5 of us we all ordered starters 4 were served at the table all together, the mussels were luke warm, which isn't idea. We then had to ask where the 5th starter was and then had to wait another 10 mins before it was served Main course we all ordered a dish and ordered extra veg again all mains were delivered and I mentioned that we had ordered extra veg to be met with a grunt from the waitress, again 10 mins later the veg hadn't arrived so we asked again, this time we had nearly finished the main courses when they arrived, which isn't ideal. Also when does a chicken dish taste like fish The manageress was very nice and deducted the starter and veggie dish from the final bill, however, a service charge. However, the grumpy French waitress, needs a lesson in manners. Just chucked the dishes on the table dripping juice from one of the dishes all over the table and my Bruv's glasses case, with no apology. Never asked if the meals were OK or asked if we wanted more drinks etc, no please or thank yous just rude Would I go here again, only if things improved lot. Its not cheap and I would expect more than this from COTE DISAPPOINTING

Food was really good for all the choices we made, staff was polite and on time up to almost the end of our dinner. Unfrotuntely, we had been waiting for more than 20 muinutes to pay after calling for them twice already. It was really busy after a point and it seemed that they didn't have enough staff to cover the demand.

Very busy being Valentine's day, but still very efficient service. They even managed to provide a cheese selection for the third course, which wasn't on the set menu. Good food and good value.

Very good customer service. Always polite and accommodating. Goats cheese salad was lovely and the haddock with new potatoes was a comforting meal for a winters night. Topped with the the wine pairing overall good value for money.

Had to wait over 30 minutes between finishing our starters and waiting for our main course. Otherwise service was good. Nice location close to the shoppers by centre.

Food is always excellent, and the staff are lovely. The wine selection is good, and not too pricey. The atmosphere is really nice, and we never feel rushed to free up the table. We have been known to sit there for hours, chatting and drinking coffee, long after the meal has finished. Perfect.

Simple breakfast food, properly prepared, and served at a reasonable price and with reasonable efficiency. The breakfasts will not amaze across the board, but the pastries shine.

The service was excellent. The Front of House was very welcoming. The waiter we had was knowledgeable and provided brilliant service. He recommended the spinach to accompany my Monkfish. A great combination! Monkfish cooked extremely well. My partner’s food too was of a high quality and presented well. This is our second equally good experience for an evening meal. I have also had a very pleasurable Sunday morning breakfast experience at Cotes. The atmosphere too very good. Lighting adds to experience when having supper. You could imagine being in a provincial French town!

Great food. We had the Saturday specials: burgers and Breton chicken. Both were very tasty and beautifully cooked. Service was very attentive and with a smile!

The choice of menus was impressive for a Sunday. Complimentary water was appreciated. our waiter was excellent with a good sense of humour. This is the best Cotes we have visited and we have been to a few.

Lovely meal of lamb rump. Good service. Enjoyed the offer of a complimentary bottle of wine. Wish we’d had the option to choose a bottle of wine for the same value from the menu as I really don’t like Chardonnay so we had the red.

Food and service excellent, but adding a service charge of 12.5% to every bill is cheeky, to say the least. We deducted it and gave the waiter 10% in cash.

Food and service were good. Restaurant had a pleasant buzz and we had a comfortable booth table. Had a voucher for a free bottle of wine following a meal there in December. Even with that though, price was a high (over £110 for 2) when compared to some varied and quality set menus available elsewhere.

We had excellent food and service at our visit to Cote on an extremely busy Saturday night. The staff worked very hard to ensure all our needs were catered for.

I was asked 3 times, by 3 different waiters/waitresses, whether my food was alright, and each time I had my mouth full. . . .

The staff were great a 6 but my steak was poor 2 .I do enjoy cote but the food can be hit or miss .

I am a very regular and enthusiastic customer of Reading Cote Restaurant and frequently meet friends there for lunch. On my most recent visit on January 20th, having booked a table for 4 people, I was able to make use of my 'bonus' bottle of wine and was pleased to choose a Merlot, which was very satisfactory. The meal was excellent and the service friendly, prompt and efficient as ever, so altogether it was a very pleasant experience. On being given our bill, we decided to halve the total amount between us and omitted to scrutinise the itemisation, however later on doing so I found that we had been charged £19.95 for the bottle of wine. I phoned the restaurant, explained the situation and received full apology and immediate reimbursement on my Visa card for the excess charge. This oversight is the only reason why I have not given a full 6 points to my rating!

Even though my steak (frites) wasn’t pink and I had to send it back, it was dealt with quickly and professionally and the meal wasn’t interrupted. Lovely staff and atmosphere thank you!

The food - for us fish parmenides, carrots and peas - was delicious. I've no idea how they cook the carrots but they were the best! The desserts were equally lovely - chocolate crepes for my friend and the creme caramel for me which was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. Great service too. All good.
