Excellent food, service, atmosphere and it makes me wonder why we have not visited before. Four of us came for the first time and ate from the set menu which had a good selection of starters and mains as well as deserts at very good prices. The wine list is quite extensive with a great choice and I we got a good quality bottle of wine at a fair price. Would recommend the restaurant to anyone and will definitely be returning.

great food as always, had to ask for my forgotten dessert after everyone had finished theirs as difficult to attract waiters attention but did not detract from overall experience.

Not impressed with the service last night. The receipt named Harry as our server. We have been before and last night was disappointing. We were left waiting for drinks and for our plates to be cleared after each course for a long time. He also cleared other tables before us, then came to our's with other plates to pile our's on top of. Not professional or attentive. Starters were just plonked down.. He didn't ask who was having what and got them the wrong way round! Didn't ask if we had enjoyed them. My haddock tasted strange and was over cooked. My partner asked for his sirloin to be cooked medium... it was still VERY bloody. Under done but he still enjoyed it and didn't want to complain. We chose not to leave the full service charge. It was definitely not deserved!

Steak is fabulous, and the peppercorn sauce was out of this world. The service was good and very knowledgeable about the menu - we will be back! Well done Newcastle branch!

Very disapointing. We had previously visited Cote Brassier in Leeds and enjoyed the quality of service, old fashioned and charming. Decided to repeat the experience in our home town of Newcastle for my husbands birthday but was very let down. Some of waiting staff were being trained and so when order was being taking we had2 waiters writing the same order, I think training should be done outside of trading times and definately not on a Friday evening however my main problem with waiting staff was 1 particular WAITRESS who seem to treat other staff as something she had trod on, giving them dirty looks if they got in her way and was very demeaning to a waiter how was holding a tray. It made our whole experience uncomfortable to watch her treat people this way. Our experience was totally opposite to the experience we had in Leeds.

Always give it six stars but today was a bit confusing didn't really know who was serving me as it was so busy the greeter was excellent and had the same surname as me as we commented on was asked twice what I wanted to drink by different staff but still waited ten mins for it to arrive complimentary apertif then twelve mins to take order and a bit of a wait for soup starter but main only minutes. Food is always excellent can't fault it but as it was so busy why put me on a table for four when they turned away five couples while I sat there for

Easy to reserve a table, good location for the theatre, great food choice (I could have eaten everything on the menu....not at the same time!) well spaced tables, good atmosphere. Service could have been a tad faster and the background music turned down a little.

Lovely food and atmosphere, and very consistent, friendly service. Slight error in that some saucisson sec we ordered with aperitifs was never delivered. But enjoyed the mains and desserts. Our favourite restaurant in central Newcastle

Excellent food and great, professional staff as usual. This was a busy Cotes, so we waited a bit longer to served. However they quietly granted me, my Chardonnay free of charge, which was a lovely touch! Thank you Cotes Newcastle!!

We regularly visit Cote Brasserie branches but have never eaten at this Newcastle venue. I booked online a couple of hours before, & immediately received an email confirmation. The branch was fairly busy when we arrived at 6pm on a Thursday evening. We were acknowledged by a friendly employee, shown to our table & given menus immediately. We decided to eat from the cheapest menu, £10.95 for 2 courses - served from 12-7pm, Mon to Fri. I chose the pork croquette served with poached egg and hollandaise sauce. My husband ordered the golden beetroot, with crème frache, hazelnuts & pea shoots. To follow he ordered lamb Parmentier with honey glazed carrots. I had the sea bass. We ordered an extra side of minted peas with bacon, lettuce & baby onions. To compliment our meal we enjoyed a bottle of the house white wine The food arrived promptly & was delicious. My husband really enjoyed his golden beetroot which was an unusual dish. Main courses were delivered about 10 minutes after we had finished our main course. Again good presentation of flavoursome food made with excellent ingredients. Finishing off our meal, we enjoyed a crème caramel & a selection of ice-cream. Cote Brasserie is our favourite go to chain restaurant. Wherever you chose around the country, you are guaranteed good food & good service plus good value. I wish we had a branch more convenient for us, the nearest is an hour's drive away in Bristol.

Great food and lovely atmosphere! Staff were very attentive, only downside was the gratuity was added to the bill. I’d like to tip on what service I’ve received rather than it being decided for me.

Only fault was the sun was shining into the restaurant and there were no proper blinds on the windows making it very hot and uncomfortable. However we were told blinds were being made and should be in the restaurant very soon.

I booked a table in advance, as soon as we arrived, a few minutes early, we were escorted to the table. Our waiter was attentive, immediately offering us drinks but then disappeared while we selected from the menu. After the food had arrived he checked to make sure everything was alright then allowed us to carry on chatting. A quiet but convivial atmosphere.

Rather too long a wait at the table for drinks but overall a good experience for an early pre theatre dinner. Food on the 10.95 was generally excellent though I was disappointed by my spinach salad and did not like the bacon used in it. The sea bream dish wasvery good. As was the service after a disappointing beginning!

Great food, exceptional service. We ordered the special ice cream profiteroles which were slow to arrive. Our waiter explained and apologised, but when they came the choux pastry was dry and chewy. When we mentioned this he deducted the charge from our bill - excellent customer care!

Four of us visited for a pre theatre lunch. I had anticipated that the restaurant would be busy so had made the reservation for 12 pm which was just as well as the service was a little slow & this gave us only just enough time to have starter & main courses. The theatre only being across the road from the restaurant & the performance started at 2pm. Having said that, the staff were very friendly & showed no sign of being under pressure & the food was excellent. We will certainly return.
