Côte Highgate

It was pretty average really. Service was ok but the waiter soon gave up on pouring the wine which is not in any restaurant’s interests, as I know all too well. My poulet grillé was tasteless especially as it came with a mushroom sauce and should have been bursting with flavour. My daughter’s risotto verde was bland and also lacked any real flavour. Even the crab mayo starter was nothing like it used to be. We skipped dessert, needless to say. Without doubt Covid will be to blame here, as it will be the ‘go to’ excuse for years to come, but something must have happened in the kitchen at the Highgate Côte branch because it was most underwhelming this time round and I can’t say we’ll be rushing back soon. Like anyone will care!

We had a good experience at Cote, and we have no doubt we will be back again. Even without the £10 pp discount the prices were very reasonable and the food was excellent.

Superb late lunch on the terrace.....we'd hardly ordered as starters arrived. Fish parmentier was stuffed with fish and elicious topping...scraped the plate. Service was as impeccable as ever.

Great to see our local Cote open again! We enjoyed the usual pate, fillet steak and haddock with chips. Service was efficient and COVID-19 practices in place. Thank you for a lovely lunch. We dined on the last day of Eat Out To Help Out ... fingers crossed it’s extended or returns later in the year.

Front area of restaurant lacked atmosphere. Otherwise, service and food very good. Burger slightly disappointing

Brilliant service with a smile, fresh tasty food. Servers wore face shields and hand sanitiser was wall mounted throughout restaurant. Only negative was glassware could have been cleaner so would be good if more attention was paid to this before next visit. Thank you

Perfect and also had the Halal chicken option so we could eat.

The food was delicious and well presented. Service very good and attentive. My only issue was that everything was brought out a little too quickly. I know that is an unusual thing to complain about but I felt we were being rushed a little. No sooner had we finished our hor d'oevres our starters appeared. I had to ask for a delay in bringing the mains so we had time to digest and reflect.

Very well organised. We had a lovely table in the outdoor courtyard. The food was excellent, wonderful gazpacho, tuna fish nicoise, and coup noir. Great tasting and good value bottle of rose champagne 🍾 Attentive staff and good social distancing. Well done Cote!! Thankyou

Have Visited this restaurant numerous times and always had a great evenings this was the first during covid visit I have to say Although different times we are living through the staff ,,,food ,,drinks,,service was still totally yummy we will be back Thank you for such a loverly night

My husband and I came to Cote yesterday for our anniversary. I mentioned in the booking reservation that it was for a special occasion, and we were met with 2 glasses of champagne upon arrival to our table. This was such a nice touch and really got our dinner started on a nice note. We had gratin potatoes, olives, and a baguette to start with a bottle of red wine. All 3 appetizers were delicious and we enjoyed them. For mains, my husband ordered a fish/prawn dish with sautéed spinach (recommended by our server) and they were both fantastic! I was not expecting to enjoy the spinach either but I was very impressed - very flavorful. I ordered the lobster frites as my main. It came out cold, and my husband asked if we could send it back. Our server and the manager came over to apologize and a fresh lobster order was brought out. I have worked in a restaurant for years in the US, and understand that these things can happen sometimes. (I normally never complain or send things back, but I really fancied the lobster so I preferred a new one) I just wanted to say that I really appreciate how everyone handled the situation. The manager and waitress were both so kind. Thank you for everything yesterday, and please send my gratitude onward to the manager and waitress. They also did a great job keeping the ambiance and environment of the restaurant positive, yet adhering to Covid restrictions/regulations. Thank you again and we will be back to visit again soon.

Great to be back - food as reliable as ever, staff cheerful and helpful. They were fully kitted out so we felt secure. The tables were well spaced out.

Very busy due to August eat out to help out and spacing of tables could be better. But a good meal and pleasant evening

Very pleasant evening tho I felt the tables too close together when people were taking their seats. Also, no track and trace option offered.

Everything was exceptional but the only thing that was disappointing was that the chicken was not Halal meat. So we only had the option of eating fish.

No real attempt at social distancing. Our table was too close to the next one and the room was crowded and noisy. Paper menus still, cutlery etc handled by the waiting staff. Very disappointing. The food was good as always but even with the discount it was rather pricey. We won’t be back for a while, and this was one of our regular haunts pre-lockdown so it’s a real shame.

If I missed one thing in lockdown it was a Cote steak frites...wonderful to return to Highgate and lovely team, especially Maria who saved the day with her exceptionel customer service when the steak failed (first time ever) to meet usual standard. No fuss and replaced immediately without charge. Delicious deserts and coffee on the terrace made for superb lunch.

First night back after lockdown closure - but just seemed to be service as usual, but with all the necessary new adjustments. Staff were great, and the quality of the food as good as ever. Have already been back again!!!
