Côte Harrogate

I’m not sure how to rate this. The food was lovely, and arrived in a timely fashion, no problem with that side of the service. I had lamb chops, just two, but they were enough, being a decent chunky size, well cooked, deliciously juicy and tasty, and the warm pea n mint salad a perfect accompaniment; my companion had the belly pork, again very tasty, though we felt the portion size might not be enough for a man-size appetite. The main question mark is about the waitress service, which I really don’t want to highlight, but ... our waitress was a bit too gung-ho efficient, and quite impersonal, leading us to feel a bit pressurised to order everything quickly, including pre-dinner drinks, wine, etc, with no apparent understanding of how we’d like to approach the experience, which then led to a discomfort around the evening. When asked if there might be a Pinot Grigio wine, she was quick to point out that “it’s a French restaurant”. We’re not ALL au fait with wines, my companion being one of them, and that added to the discomfort. We feel our waitress should have been able to offer an equivalent instead of abandoning us while we attempted to make our wine choices, unadvised. Had we had a more engaging waitress, we’d not have noticed that the ambience of the venue was a bit stark, but ... our experience made us notice the negatives a bit more. She was just too super-efficient which made it less comfortable.

Lovely food and prompt service. Happy to be seated before our booked time. Slightly over bearing service. We were well aware and compliant with Covid closing but we’re “forced” out at 21:55.

Tasty food, nice and comfortable atmosphere, good value for money. Overall a lovely experience.

Had a great time. Service was great all covid secure. Plenty of space between tables. All in all a good experience. Staff attentive and polite.

12.5% service charge excessive for indifferent service from an impersonal and unsmiling waitress. When an adjacent table was cleared the table area was not sanitised, to our surprise. We are locals and this was our third visit but we won’t be back.

My sister and I had a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive. All covid rules were adhered to. We would highly recommend a visit here. A lovely touch were the cosy blankets for anyone who wished to dine al fresco.

The worst meals we have ever had at cote! I ordered salmon... what can I say? was it fresh? No was it hot? No! The plates wear cold and the ratatouille can be best described as mush and it had been hidden under some rocket leaves that had become slimy, not very pleasant at all. It appeared to me that everything had been pre-cooked and it had only been heated up when someone ordered it and that unfortunate person was me. You should be ashamed that you have the nerve to charge the prices you do for a cold third rate meal. I won’t even to start to tell about the burger, that had also been heated through and was hard with a very unpleasant crust. The chips, thankfully were freshly cooked and were hot. I have to say that will take a lot for me to return to eat if this it your new normal. Geoff Ingleton

It was very nice to be back in one of our favourite eating places in Harrogate . We felt safe and the whole experience was just as good as it had always been . It was such a shame that it was so quite after all the hard work you must have to put in place at this moment in time . Thank you to all your team We really enjoyed it .

Normally love Cote, been to many and go to Newcastle regularly. First time in Harrogate, unbelievably poor service from a waitress who could not smile and was on the point of rudeness. One meal was not satisfactory ( the other and deserts were perfect). It was Breton Chicken but was under cooked, part very pink and blood on the bone. When mentioned she sharply said 'that is how Breton Chicken should be'! I do not think so! When I paid the bill she pulled the receipt from the machine and literally threw it in the table and walked off without saying anything. Normally I top up the added service charge. This time I felt like asking for it to be taken off but was too polite to do so. Hope Newcastle is still the same since open after lockdown!

Quite disappointing. Was excited about coming here after a wedding dress fitting & had eggs Benedict. Presentation was shocking, looked like it had just been thrown on the plate & the ham looked like cheap packet ham from asda or somewhere. Wouldnt go back.

Service good but a bit slow. First course prawns were cold, calamari a bit tough. Moules and steak were excellent as was the children’s ‘fish and chips’.

Courteous staff. Very clean inside. Food was hot and tasty, although fruit and brioche not on the menu anymore.

The restaurant felt very Covid safe and the food was delicious as always. The staff were very friendly and it was good to be able to dine out again after such a long time.

Excellent choice of Food! Good ‘Buzzy’ atmosphere, on a busy Friday night. Service First Class, if almost too rushed in parts! Enjoyable Menu, 3 of us had different & fully delicious food.

Nice to get back to Cote Harrogate after 6 months. Food was good, service decent and atmosphere spot on.

Really lovely staff with efficient and friendly service. The dessert course was delicious. Slight issue with main course but it was addressed without even really having to mention it. The atmosphere was really good too. I’ve always loved Cote nothing has changed in this respect.. Thank you

We enquired why we hadn’t had a birthday email offering us the sparkling wine and the manager straight away offered us that instead of the Rhubarb Martini....that is what I call customer service. The food was the expected standard and was really enjoyed , thank you.

The overall experience was great especially the helpful staff. I didn’t liked petit poi’s cooked in vinegar that accompanied my lamb chops - far to acidic.

Excellent meal and very friendly and efficient service. Overall excellent value and recommended. Unfortunately I had a dizzy spell at end of meal and staff were particularly caring and efficient in dealing with my situation and calling an ambulance. I was particularly impressed with both their empathy and professionalism and it is clear they have effective laid down plans for dealing with such situations. This is reassuring in these difficult times when organisational efficiency is so important. Thank you Harrogate staff!

It’s been quite a few months since dining here, last few times have been excellent, couldn’t fault the service last night, however a little disappointed with food... pork belly had no crackling, in fact awful, and one of the starters I assumed came out of freezer bag... one bad meal of many that I have had, I would go again and just put down to a chef having a bad night

Just as good as usual, staff excellent as always: mussels a bit small but plenty of them!
