Côte Harpenden

We have dined at Cote Harpenden several times since it opened and it has always been very enjoyable. The restaurant was not very busy on our last visit and the staff had time to chat with us. We will return!

I do not agree with you gratuity system. It shouldn't be added automatically to the bill. It is my choice if and how much I give. If you charging a standard 12.5% for service I would not have booked a table. Although the serving staff were very pleasant, I didn't find them experienced.

Service ok but not as good as usual - bill incorrect (overcharged) and changed immediately but no apology just an excuse. Had veggie breakfast which was tasty but very very small piece of sourdough toast which was disappointing. And unable to substitute juice for another coffee with Formule 'deal' as system didn't allow it - Cote usually more flexible than other chains but not on this occasion!

Lovely meal. Great service. As it was our wedding anniversary, the staff kindly served us a complimentary glass of bubbly. What a nice touch. Made us feel very welcome. We will definitely revisit in the near future.

I am a Cote fan and this was another good meal. There really should be more than one waitress on duty on Thursday lunchtime. I had an elderly mother-in-law with me (her birthday) and service is important to that generation. The member of staff on duty was,nevertheless, very good. Keep up the good work.

Great food and fantastic service. Went for a family member’s birthday (this got mentioned in passing) and they arrived with a kir royale and ‘happy birthday’ decorated dessert which was a lovely thoughtful touch.

We loved the feel of the restaurant and the placement of our table. The meal and food choices were wonderful and the drink was also great. Our waiter was really attentive as well but not intrusive. We would definitely come back again. It was good not to be rushed off the table too. Thank you!

Fairly average food, ordered salad which didn’t arrive and still charged for and having subsequently check the price of the wine we ordered the mark up was ridiculous .

Nice meal. Place lacks a little character. Could have warmed the plates to keep food hot. I had 4 small mushrooms on my dish. We did have compensation for our cool meal.

Our Breakfasts were perfectly cooked and were delicious. Great value for money and great atmosphere. Staff were welcoming and were happy to make any changes to the menu we wanted.

Lovely food and great service. Lovely touch of adding a happy birthday message to my desert plate. And with helping two elderly ladies out of the restaurant and into my car. Those little extra touches make all the difference.

Despite the Restaurant being almost empty, the food served to me was very poor. My husband on the other hand said his meal was good. Very hit and miss depending on items ordered. Could not recommend.

All meals chosen were very good and good friendly service. Cote seems to be able to maintain its value and quality.

Usually a great restaurant but today the soup was served cold and had to be sent back and the fish was served with just beans. So, I had the beans replaced with carrots and peas which made the entire dish very tasteless and bland. The fish portion was small and the vegetable portion was enormous. However, this was a two course set menu at £10.95 and this was good value for money essentially. We did order bread for the soup and with drinks as well it’s always over £30 with an additional 12% discretionary tip added to the bill. It is not a cheap place to eat even with set menus at low prices.

Good choices from a wide menu including the two special two and three course offerings. Some nice wines in the £20 range. Pleasant ambience, quiet for lunch this week during the school summer holidays and helpful service - not intrusive but there when needed. Quality of their fish in particular is high and try the Sea Bream with fennel....the best I have had anywhere, and usually go for every time I visit Harpenden's Cote

Overall very good. The staff were helpful and the "gluten free" options were very well explained. The food was mostly good with the exception of the apricot crumble which was soggy, stodgy and tasteless. Barely edible!
