Côte Restaurant Exeter

Very busy due to a Two Moors Festival concert in the cathedral nearby. We had tickets and a a deadline to meet which the stressed staff met with a smile!

Côte was incredibly busy, full of concert goers with the deadline of curtain up. The staff were under terrific pressure. They coped with admirable coolness, never once showing how pushed they were when serving us. A brilliant demonstration of how good the staff is. The food was standard Côte, very pleasant and what was needed at the time. The Picpoul was more than adequate. Bravo and thank you

Staff were pleasant and helpful. We were a party of 6 celebrating a birthday and ate from the a la Carte menu. Food was excellent. I would return to this restaurant when next in Exeter.

Every time we visit Cotes we have a lovely evening, the staff are very friendly and professional, very welcoming and the food is superb. The menu is varied and interesting.

My friend and I received a very warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our table immediately. The service was exceptional and the food delicious. A lovely un-rushed meal. Definitely go again!

Obviously very popular and busy, but friendly, attentive and efficient. We ate well and more-than-sufficiently. Not at the cheap end, but very good value. We would certainly return.

The food was great as usual. Unfortunately we chose to sit outside as the weather was great. There always seem to be a problem with lack of service every time we sit outside. The service is very bad so lunch is dragging on and on as we wait and wait first of all to place an order, then it takes forever for the food and In the end we had to go inside and ASK to pay the bill. Such a shame.

Always a great atmosphere , and the staff are very attentive. Delicious food and the early evening menu is great value. Highly recommend this restaurant

Very enjoyable as ever-Many thanks to the Manager for getting a window table overlooking the cathedral. Service efficient and courteous and will definitely go again.

The staff were helpful and attentive, the food was delicious, well cooked and well presented. We had a seat by the window upstairs which was a bonus. The only down side was that the room was very noisy, however it was busy so probably to be expected.

First time at Cote Brasserie for breakfast although we've been for lunch and dinner, which have always been excellent. True to form Cote's breakfast menu is extensive and varied and we have a wonderful full English. The service as usual was brilliant and we didn't have to wait long for our meal. If I'm up that early again (in there for 8.30am) we will certainly visit them.

Really enjoyed our experience the food was lovely, staff were friendly and view was stunning but didn’t appreciate the 12.5% service charge. We ended up not leaving a tip because of this!

One of the best meals we've had at Cote both for the food quality and service. At the time they were offering their anniversary menu which was excellent value for money with good choice for all 3 courses.

it was my 50th surprise birthday with friends and family decs and balloons were taken in before hand only balloons put out they forgot the rest service was very slow and not up to usual standard very disappointed

Cote Brasserie was the perfect place for brunch/Sunday lunch with some friends who are studying at Exeter University. Whether eggs benedict or moules frites is what you are looking for, or indeed good, old-fashioned fish and chips ( goujons et frites ) then this is very reliable - and obviously in a very accessible location, opposite the Cathedral.

I often eat at Exeter Cote. The portions are fairly small, which suits me as I can always indulge in the three course set menu, which is good value for money, and the staff are always professional and attentive.

We love Cote but do feel good standards have slipped. The steak tartare was coarsley chopped and slightly chewy, distinct lack of garlic on calamari, frites with chicken on meagre side, bernaise made with parsley rather than tarragon, swede and carrot in roast bed salad was odd. Redeemed buy the creme caramel and good service.

Good food , attentive service and pleasant ambience . What a pleasure it was to be treated so nicely. After 2 lovely courses didn't have room for a pudding.

Amazing food and very good friendly service from the staff. It was nice as not as busy on a Saturday night which sometimes is to noisey.

Nice late breakfast great location but the tea is not great. One small fairtrade tea bag in a large pot and the tea was weak and tasteless. Not sure that it was a Fairtrade !

Excellent position with cathedral views. Quite small on ground floor. Great service and good gluten free menu. Toilets down stairs, quite steep and not that tidy!

Jolly nice food and service , fantastic views of cathedral add a wonderful touch rather than the view of another restaurant in other parts of Exeter.

Great service, food was excellent and reasonably priced. Only slight negative comment is how loud it gets when quite full and makes it difficult to have a conversation.

Nicely situated by the cathedral. Good food and service as usual at Côte. Very good choice on the à la carte menu. Florence, our waitress, was excellent.

Service was prompt and very polite. The food was as good as ever, and I was particularly impressed by the standard of cleanliness evident in the cleaning of surfaces and bottles by one of the waitresses.

The four of us had an excellent dining experience and will certainly continue to come back. We particularly like the French ambience and French style of food.

Very friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and good atmosphere, if slightly noisy, due to coffee making machinery. Otherwise lovely. We would definitely go again.

The setting was excellent. The food was very good, however the service left a bit to be desired. Lost in translation, "Extra side of peas", came as, "Extra lot of cheese", so when asking where the portion of peas was, the waiter became quite abrupt and we were ignored. A free bottle of wine was most acceptable, however it is not free if you then get the bill with it added on... ! Attention to detail would have been nice.

Normally I really like cote. It started off great, our request for a window seat was met by the hostess who was pleasant. That's when it went awful. I don't know if the server just doesn't like his job or was in the process of quitting/getting fired but him and his colleague were awful. We felt rushed picking dishes on the menu and when our dishes came, one was so hot that I burnt my mouth and my fiancées side salad had been salted heavily. He came by to check on us, and we mentioned the hot dish only to hear from him "yes I forgot to tell you it's hot and was just out of the oven". When it came to pay, we were overcharged for drinks we didn't even order which my fiancée caught and then the male host who was taking payment tried to charge us the amount with gratuity. Normally we would pay the gratuity if the service called for it. But at this point we were so fed up we just wanted to leave. When she corrected the host he developed a very rude and cold demeanour towards us. Pro tip: if you want to be paid gratuity, your service also has to be outstanding. We're not obliged to reward poor service.

The only thing that spoiled are visit was the fact that a 12.5% service is charge is added automatically, I like to reward good service but I do resent that the amount is determined for me.

Excellent service from the moment we arrived, lovely food and a very reasonable bill at the end of the evening, it was lovely, thank you.

Third visit to this Cote and again it was a lovely meal with excellent service. It made for a really nice end to our holiday.

As usual, very tasty food & friendly, attentive service. My only regret was that they had run out of the duck! I would recommend eating in this restaurant.

Good menu choices for lunch. Friendly polite staff and nice ambience with great view of Exeter Cathedral. Wé always go there when visiting the city.
