Côte Restaurant Exeter

Excellent service, great quality food, a wonderful dining experience, very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful staff. The location is also great with views of the cathedral.

Excellent service and food, not happy with service charge added to the bill. (I’m sure the small print was on the menu), I prefer to tip if I feel the experience was worth it. I word still come back though.

Nice atmosphere, great location, great food and good service. The early evening 2 or 3 course menus are good value and delicious. This is one of my favourite places to eat in Exeter.

Poor, small (& draughty) reception area, tables on ground floor in thoroughfare to upstairs section, inflexible approach to bread with meal, staff in your face for drinks orders the second you've sat down, poor staff interpersonal skills, but food was great.

The food was good, the service was lovely (as ever). The mains were slow to come but the waiter kept us informed. Due to running late I didn't check the bill and was disappointed to realise later that we must have been charged for the wine which was supposed to be free with a deal we had booked. I telephoned the next day and spoke to a lovely lady (Emma I think?) was who was very apologetic and sorted it out. I didn't even have a receipt but she tracked back the payment and saw that we had been charged in error. The waiter apparently sent his apologies and they offered to put the cash in an envelope for me to collect (I had paid cash) when I was next in town. Mistakes happen but it's how mistakes are handled that really tells you about a business. Côte dealt with the error perfectly which I hugely appreciate.

Excellent service and food although at least one portion of veg should be included with main course ! Also can recommend the coffee which is first class.

Another very enjoyable meal with good service. The restaurant was buzzing, however some background music wouldn't go amiss.

My wife and I are regulars at Cote Exeter. normally we take the set lunch, but this time we chose from the a la carte menu at lunchtime. Starters were excellent, crab mayonnaise and baked crottin. Both had ribeye steak, medium rare. Both were dry, slightly tough, and rather tasteless, but my wife's was worse. She sent it back and asked for a rare one. It came rare but didn't taste better than the first one. At this price we do expect better quality . The other thing that we hate (!) is that each person/s with a table booked upstairs has to be shown to their table by one lady on the front desk. This takes ages, and results in a queue out of the door, consisting of both booked customers and unbooked customers. The unbooked ones rarely get in as the restaurant is usually fully booked. They need to let other waiting staff show customers to their tables.

Excellent food, value and friendly service. I would recommend this Côte restaurant especially for an evening meal as the central location means public transport is available if you wish to sample from the extensive wine list!

We had a wonderful meal with attentive service. The restaurant is beautifully situated right outside the cathedral, so the window views were stunning! We will be going back!

Food quality is amazing. Worth the price you pay. The service we had was very welcoming and of a high quality. Would recommend and will go again.

Great food and great atmosphere. Friendly staff who were attentive but not 'in your face'. Good selection of dishes on the menu, supplemented by the specials.

A comfortable venue with an interesting view over the Cathedral. Good food with a fairly wide choice on the early evening menu. Pleasant service. A bit noisy even though not full.

Food excellent service good waiter attentive. Definitely return without hesitation. Observation the acoustics are terrible when busy and especially if seated next to a large table.

Very good as always, and very reasonably priced. Staff polite and helpful. Acoustics not great so very noisy, but nothing can be done about that

Lovely food, good service and excellent view of Cathedral green. Quick, but unrushed service. Great choice of good but could do with more vegetarian options.

It was a special night to celebrate my birthday plus our 44th Wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed lovely food good staff and a very nice ambiance.

superb food (starters and mains) as always. staff friendly and attentive. first courses a bit slow to appear (ca 25 mins after ordering) mains timing fine, arriving to us shortly after starters had been cleared.

Food was good and service was good too but disappointed with the way the bill was charged as gratuities we’re already added to the invoice with out my approval . Spoke to the manager who didn’t really care much about it I intend to complain to Coté about this

Another great evening at Cote. Staff really helpful and friendly and food excellent. An issue with the desserts that was rectified immediately. A very well run restaurant.

We enjoyed a great meal with superb service . The restaurant was busy but the team were good at coping with demand . Looking forward to returning soon

Took my daughter for breakfast which she absolutely loved. Only reason it's not a 6 is the fact that gratuity was added to the bill. I know you can ask for this to be removed but that makes me feel uncomfortable,. If I want to leave a tip I will.

Great view of the Cathedral, after requesting a window seat. Fantastic steak frites - best in town - as ever, but most of all such kind, engaging, proficient staff. Always a joy to eat at Exeter Cote for wonderful food and fantastic service!

Good food and pleasant, efficient service. Asked for window table and got it. Had offer of free bottle of wine and didn't have to ask for it - was brought to table as soon as red or white had been established.

Good atmosphere,attentive service and value for money food of a good quality. Cote is consistent which means it is a very useful "go to" when deciding where to eat in Exeter which suffers from a surfeit of bland chains

Fabulous evening. Very accommodating with dietary requirements. Excellent food which is why we go regularly. Not the cheapest but you do pay for quality, excellent service and fabulous surroundings.

Great food and friendly service. I asked for a window seat upstairs which we were given without any hassle. Optional service charge of 12.5% seems a little steep to me for the UK. Overall very pleasant and I'm sure we will return.

Service good but impersonal. Ambience a bit clinical and very noisy, needs sound softeners. Food good but could be hotter. If it was served on hot plates rather than cold it would stay hotter longer. Suggest you use bigger plates with the moules for the leftover shells. Do not like compulsory or "suggested" service charge added to bill especially at 12.5%. Not sure I would return in a hurry. Glorious views of the cathedral though

Had dinner with my friend this evening , your hostess was the perfect amount of attentive without being intrusive as all good wait staff are , this made for lovely yet private dining experience .

Lovely food and wine; friendly, efficient and professional service. We were seated on the ground floor with a great view of the cathedral. As always, nothing to improve on. Thank you Côte.

Food very good as always but we had to wait quite a while for our table and there was rather a frantic air about the restaurant.

AS ALWAYS A VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. VERY ATTENTIVE STAFF WITHOUT BEING INTRUSIVE AND THE FOOD IS WELL COOKED AND PRESENTED. WOULD HAPPILY RECOMMEND TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. FAIRLY NOISEY BUT EXPECTED ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.

Very poor service. Had to wait 25 minutes after asking for a desert menu. Had to wait more than 15 minutes for a bill in the end I almost got up and walked out totally ignored by your staff.

we enjoyed our experience at Cote. Food was nice but could have been slightly bigger portions. We were offered a table on the second floor which we thought was a better seating area than the ground floor plus there was a better atmosphere

Thank you it was a fine lunch with a window seat.... The food was very good... My only criticism is the skinny french fries... just not appealing at all ... Better to have just a few real "in house" chips or fries... It would be perfect... Martin.

Cote in Exeter as good as ever, wonderful food, atmosphere and staff. Got a table you the window with a great view of the cathedral. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

One of our party was unhappy that their meal was cold but staff were fantastic about sorting the problem and also gave free bubbles for our table not being quite ready when we arrived. They could not have been more attentive. We felt well looked after. Nice meal and good evening.

Staff was friendly and swift to get us to our table. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was great, and we enjoyed our overall experience at Coté.

Had another delicious meal tonight at Cote A complementary free bottle of wine was very nice too!!!! Staff were friendly & attentive overall a very pleasant experience
