Overlooking Exeter Cathedral, this restaurant is popular and convivial. The food is more interesting than I expected and the staff are friendly and attentive.
Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic ambiance. Lovely evening in great company looking out over the Cathedral. Definitely recommend
Great food, great service and great location right opposite the cathedral.
Amazing food, staff were lovely and were there for your every need
The food was excellent and we were looked after very well by the staff.
Food was great - service was VERY slow - we were there about half an hour before staff asked for our drinks order
It was very lovely, but busy and we therefore had to wait twenty five minutes before being able to order a drink. Food came very quickly once we ordered it but, it would have been nice to have been able to order a drink earlier, although we did get water
This is a really excellent restaurant Mustafa super and the food is great
Waiting staff could not have been more helpful and patient. We had with us our two grandaughters aged 8 and 10. Not only are they both coeliac, but are fairly positive about what they do and don't like to eat. Our waiter was tolerance itself as they 'mixed and matched' from 3 menus. I didn't catch his name, but .. thank you!
We had a delicious meal as usual. It is always a wonderful experience at Côte Exeter. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They made it special as we celebrated our wedding anniversary. Thank you 😊
Excellent meals and lovely staff. What more can I say except thank you. Just one small comment re the noise - it’s a bit “clattery”! I guess with wood floors it’s difficult to stop. We were downstairs by choice as the upper floor restaurant is far too noisy for a conversation between 7 of us
Always have the same thing it’s just so good !
As always reliable, good food and lovely staff. Only minor issue was a really long wait for dessert - it didn't really matter as we were too busy talking, but it was way too long
Not overly impressed that the one vegetarian meal on the set menu was not available. Slow service and unhappy staff. The zucchini fritti were however, delicious.
Excellent value, and efficient and friendly service. You delivered a great evening, as usual.
Excellent location, exceptionally efficient and pleasant staff. Good food. A good occasion which will certainly be repeated
An excellent visit with superb service, quality food and presentation.
The starter, calamari, was good. The main course, sea trout, was soggy and sat in a watery liquid that perhaps was meant to be a sauce? Three French beans and half a dozen peas were the only accompaniment. The aftertaste was very unpleasant. However, at least we did not get food poisoning.
We felt that there was a very inadequate number of waiting staff on the ground floor where we were seated – every time we need - a drink or something extra, I had to get up and look for waiting staff as there was never anyone around. This is no reflection on the actual staff – they simply had far too much to do.I was waiting so long for the wine for the main course that the food had gone cold, for example.
Fantastic service, friendly and attentive staff. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Made our 30th Wedding Anniversary end on a high.
All okay but very slow - it took 10 minutes to get the dessert menu and another 10 for someone to come back and take my order by that time we were running late and had to leave without having eaten a dessert!
Wonderful Birthday lunch up in Exeter on Saturday. Food was superb and lovely atmosphere
Great food, lovely atmosphere, excellent service. We had a faultless dining experience, and all the staff were very friendly.
We went with friends and we had such a lovely evening. Food again was amazing and service was brilliant
An evening with friends ,the Cote team were incredibly discreet and extremely professional, on our visit this evening .
A lovely evening and lovely atmosphere. Starters were amazing. Unfortunately we choose the August special a sharing 22oz Rib Eye steak for our main meal. This 22oz included a very large bone so very little steak left to enjoy I'm afraid. What we did have was cooked just as requested
We both had a main course, different fish dishes, which were good, also good carrots and potatoes. But waiter didn't bring starter, bread basket, we ordered, he just came with mains at which point I asked him to remove bread from bill as we hadn't had it. He didn't respond, made no apology. (Bread wasn't on bill.) We didnt leave a tip. He may need a bit more training in bringing what ordered and apologising if something forgotten?
While the waiter was doing his best he was clearly overworked and had too many tables to service. The result was an unacceptably slow service service. The food was generally good but the duck was overcooked. The air conditioning was set too high so we were cold towards the end of the meal and a request to turn it down was ignored by the over worked waiter.
Meal after Evensong at the Cathedral. Good venue, nice and relaxed inside. Main courses served to the wrong table who then proceeded to eat, but was managed well by staff. When received food was excellent and the way was managed didn’t spoil the experience
Food was amazing as always. Service that exceeded expectations, thanks to our lovely waiter who made our evening even more lovely than it already was! Côte remains one of our top 5 restaurants in Exeter (possibly even top 1) :).
Lovely food, fantastic service and great atmosphere as always
thought my experience at cote would be more French night But part from that very good indeeed.
Fabulous Meal, lovely food and excellent wine. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lovely venue
We are unfailingly impressed by the fact that Côte Exeter is able to consistently maintain the highest standard of service and quality of food - a model for other establishments to aspire to replicate. Well done!
Good service, lovely food and good value as always. Will keep returning.
This place has great food and friendly service. Highly recommended
This was our first visit to Cote Brasserie in Exeter. Service was very friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was good and the food was fantastic, needless to say we will be returning.
We enjoyed the seabass with fennel so much last week that we had it again this week! Everything was perfect and it cheered up a dreary rainy, windy day
Cote never lets us down. Dependable, great food, great service
Tomato brushetta not great. Large lumps of tomato on toast, all of it cold. Not attractively presented & taste just about OK. Wouldn't recommend.Best position, however, of any Cote I've visited, fab looking out towards Cathedral & nice shaped rooms upstairs & down.
Free aperitif was delicious. Very refreshing. Had to order another. Risotto vert excellent. A favourite. Breton chicken wonderful. Apple tart - sorry but it was very tough and hard to cut. Hardly any apple in it. Wish we’d given that a miss. Service excellent as usual and a lovely view of the cathedral.
Excellent service followed up with great food in a great environment, looking out over the cathedral. Well done Cote Exeter.
Lively food, wine, service and setting. Great value. Bistro prices with top quality restaurant menu etc. Fab!
Everything was amazing. The August cocktail is delicious. My hubby and I both had seabass with fennel and it was scrumptious. Totally worth a visit if you haven't tried it yet.
Having been to Cote many times I was extremely disappointed with the food and service this evening. When one steak turned up over cooked, the replacement then came with blood on the plate. After I was hit in the head by a tray and my friend shoved in her seat serval times we were becoming increasing dissatisfied. Also having one meal missed from our order and also having to remind the waiter of the wine we had ordered and not yet received. When paying the bill there was another moment of frustration when the waiter could not calculate our bill properly and we ended up needing a refund. Overall I am very disappointed with my visit this evening as normally I love going to Cote for the food and service.
Always great service, good food and atmosphere. Perfect for ladies that lunch!
Had a great lunch as always, especially as it was my Birthday, we appreciated the wine. Your staff were really great as always, will be back soon. Best wishes Ruth
A lovely lunch for a catch up with friends. The food was well prepared and flavoursome, service was friendly and the price was great value for money
Food was delicious, some of the best I've had in Exeter. The view of the Cathedral from the window was stunning, and the service was friendly and efficient. Overall, I was very impressed. Thank-you.
There's more to vegan food than Risotto and lentils . The meat eaters in my family were fine and really enjoyed their meal however I was left underwhelmed with my plate full of lentils. I've literally never seen so many lentils in my life. I feel it wasn't a stew, like the menu implied, as the lentils were dry and without any stew sauce. In future you should call it plate of lentils with vegetables haha. I could have easily knocked that up for myself in a few minutes. I don't want to sound moany and I know you're not a vegan/veggie restaurant but if you don't want to get left behind you should really invest a little more time in the two vegan main options you do have making them not so boring😴!! On the light side I've definitely exceeded my protein intake for the day, so thank you for that.
