Service not quite up to normal standard though polite. Where was my favourite dish...your veal escollope? On reflection the tenderloin was somewhat tired so revise my score to 4. However the position of Cote...Exeter cathedral close...cannot be bettered.
Had to wait so long for the meal we had to rush it and leave it as our parking had over run. Not a good experience.
Great service and setting overlooking the Cathedral. Good value and selection of wines. Food wasn’t quite as good on this visit. Smoked haddock croquette starter was good, but the butternut squash risotto didn’t have much flavour.
My son enjoyed his meal but I as a vegetarian was disappointed. I found both the soup and the risotto very stodgy. There are so many foods out there that to fall back in risotto or baked camembert is a cop out and does your chefs no favours.
A very enjoyable Lunch, Friendly Staff, great food. Table for 2 could be a little bigger.
Excellent service, set menu really good re quality and choice. Nice atmosphere , polite and approachable staff
Always great food. Always good service and we always come back. You wont be disappointed
As ever service was efficient and courteous. Food was its usual high standard and as we wer going on to our show we appreciated the prompt service.
It was good to be made to feel welcome even though I was late for my already late table booked for 22:30. The service was cheerful and prompt and both food and wine were up to standard. The party of 6 loud young women made little difference, apart from amusement value for the rest of us. See Noise Level below.
Staff were great, chateaubriand was excellent, great location and fabulous atmosphere
always enjoy cotes staff very welcoming great atmosphere great value
Consistently delicious food, good service and atmosphere and friendly staff
100% constantly reliable. A tender, tasty Steack Frites... good house red wine. Perfect service. love it there as such amazing value for money. 10/10
Tasteless Calamari, slow (albeit with a smile) service, fragments of shell in my seafood linguini. Pudding was lovely but that was the only positive.
My wife and I arrived on time at 11:30 am on Sunday 30th September, having booked online. We were shown to our table, and from then on were extremely well looked after by our very helpful server, who made sure my Gluten Free requirements were met for my breakfast order. Having eaten at Cote in St.Martins London, the standard set there was equalled in Exeter. A great place for all coeliacs to try. Regards Bob Surman. PS : We shall return.
We really enjoyed our meal today , the staff were very professional and friendly. It was my husbands birthday and on arrival we were all given a lovely complimentary drink, which was a very nice touch. We will be going back very soon .
The food was delicious and waiters are really helpful. Creme Brûlée was exceptionally tasty.
The staff tried hard but there were not enough of them. The noise level as always is overbearing.
Lovely food with excellent, friendly service. Eaten here a few times and always a nice experience. Highly recommended.
Outstanding food! Extremely helpful when we asked to move tables! Staff very helpful!
Great night with great service, and the food was excellent.
Enjoyable meal. Great staff. Impossible to chat because it was sooo busy and noisy!
The noise levels on the 1st floor were horrendous. Every table packed and several large parties just yelling at each other. We eat out most weeks and we couldn't think of a noisier restaurant we've ever been to in 10 years - it was impossible to hold a conversation without virtually shouting. It was the same noise level you'd get in a busy nightclub. In the end we were desperate to get out to the extent that I had to go an chase up a server downstairs to pay. Lovely food and staff but would never go there on a weekend night again. As we left the waiter said the noise level was a known problem but there wasn't much they could do about it due to the acoustics.
Chose from the Prestige menu. Very good value and food quality.
Great food and service as always - consistently good and one of my go to restaurants in Exeter
Excellent service and food. We would definitely recommend eating here
Amazing as always ... the food delightful. I had the beetroot starter and sea bream. Both very good from the set menu. Our waitress was lovely blonde girl very professional and friendly couldn’t do enough for my mum and I. Claudio was forever the attentive thorough and professional host such a wonderful bunch at the exeter cote. Always our place of choice for good food and service. Thank you cote 🤗❤️🤗🤩
As always, the food, drinks and service were faultless. I had the duck and it was tender, blushing and in a scrumptious sauce! One of our favourite places to dine. Well done for the constant high level of service etc.
Our favourite place to eat in Exeter. Great food, wonderful service and amazing value.
Loved the food the service and the atmosphere, will be going again soon
One of many visits and as we expected delicious food , friendly staff and excellent service. A good evening was had by all - thanks .
Fab meal as always, but the thing that stands Cote out far above the rest is the superb customer service. I always feel hugely welcome, all staff are lovely and helpful so a great experience every time.
We were given some gift vouchers a while ago and decided to use them for our 12th wedding anniversary. We arrived 15mins early for our reservation but it wasn’t a problem. The welcome was warm and funny and he seated us upstairs near the window so we could look over the green. The way I reserved the table meant that we, well I, got 2 free pink cocktails (absolutely yummy, really really yummy 😋) my husband had an aperitif. We then ordered our starters - Bob had the Steak Tartare (I wasn’t convinced but he made me try it and it was lovely) and I had the charcuterie board, absolutely delish. Then we both had the ribeye and frites with the tomato salad and finger carrots as sides. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the frites were probably the most delicious I’ve ever had. Even if we hadn’t had the vouchers it would still have been reasonable for the price and quality. The staff were great and the food was amazing. We’re definitely going to come back. We had a lovely evening and it was great to go somewhere new and discover somewhere nice that we hadn’t been to before.
5 of us go regularly to Cote and usually have no complaints until today. One of us had the melon starter with plastic as an extra. We had an apology but would have expected not to be charged for the starter.
Very enjoyable meal and service. This is the seventh time I've been to Cote in Exeter, and it's never disappointed.
Always a great place to eat. Delicious food and good service.
Great venue, amazing food and fantastic service. Good value for money too. Would certainly recommend and will visit again.
Again we were delighted with everything . Canadian friends were with us to celebrate their wedding anniversary so the flutes of champagne were very welcome and brought to our table with a smile . Each meal was commendable as always . We'll continue coming to celebrate birthdays and so on as we always receive such a warm welcome by all the staff .
It was our anniversary and we had a lovely evening. My husband fancied the gazpacho but unfortunately it was not available but he had his favourite calamari instead. The food and service as ever was very good!
Lamb full of sinew. Couldn’t complain needed to avoid embarrassment
One meal had to sent back as the lamb was not presented as ordered I.e well done. It came back marginally better but, added to the fact that it was tough and needed chewing, meant that the diner concerned starred and finished, way past the rest of us. My Fish Parmentier was distinctly average. Sadly, not a good experience as I/we have had at other Côte outlets, and I chose the restaurant on the basis of history!
All good, very friendly, but main course a bit slow and some diners were rather noisy
Very good food and service. However because restaurant was so busy the service - despite the staffs best efforts, was a little slow.
As always, a trip to Exeter was made more enjoyable by a lunch at the Cote. We chose from the September Specials and both starter of Terrine and main of Confit Duck were delicious. We look forward to our next trip to Exeter!
Brilliantly service Brilliant food A real pleasure to visit this great restaurant
We thought we’d booked a table on line but apparently not even still we were found a table and staff couldn’t have been more helpful (especially waiter on loan from Bath who came from Greece) I was bit emotional as taking daughter back to university but staff had the time for me were accommodating and of course food and drinks were fabulous x thank you
We visit this restaurant often but found the service slow today. The staff were very busy, so nothing to do with them, just not enough of them
the menu was very varied and the food was delicious
Excellent lunch with super service - we’ll be back soon!
Loved it. Gorgeous view of the Cathedral, excellent service, very good food. We enjoyed the Chateaubriand.
