We were booked for 9pm on New Years Eve and unfortunately think the staff were tired at the end of a long and very busy day. We were seated for 9 but then left for 20 mins. There was then confusion over the menus which got quite abrasive. This was resolved however and the food from then on in was very good. Unfortunately at the end felt was waiting a long time to pay and very little Bon amie. After paying over £100 we are sorry to say we expect more from the whole experience and will vote with our feet this being the worst service experience we have received anywhere we have dined over the last 5 years.

Food was good. Service was not quite so great this time, but understandable as it was New Year’s Eve. We had a 6pm table and the restaurant was busy but not overly so. There were not enough staff on in my opinion. Hoping more joined for the very busy period after our sitting. Staff looked slightly daunted and a little out of depth. Although nothing worse than being rushed, it was slow and we missed out on extra drinks and desert. Ordered the bill and the card machine at the same time to avoid one extra potentially long wait in between that. Like I said, food was really good, which is the main thing.

Fantastic welcome, ambience and food. Can’t wait to revisit. Definitely prefer upstairs by the window. View tremendous of the Cathedral.

As always, your cooking and service is excellent. What I and I am sure others would welcome is the addition of the items on your set menus into your a la carte menus. Please, ever so please, can you put some sound absorbing panels on the ceilings of the first and second floors. Your loyal supporters thought that was what you were doing when closing the first floor at the time you added the second. charles.hope@sky.com

Christmas eve evening meal first class as always in Exeter great food great service we had a few delays but no issues will be back soon for sure !!

Service was excellent, Food delicious, was unfortunate that the rib-eye steak was unavailable. Lovely view of the Cathedral from our table at the Window. A very pleasant experience - recommended.

A quick refuel after shopping for a NYE outfit. Really tasty reblechon bread and a glass of red - perfect. Lots of New Year wishes from a happy workforce. All great as usual. 10/10

A lovely Boxing Day late lunch - the sea bass was so good and accompanied by a quality cold glass of white wine. Lovely friendly attentive staff who always aim to please at every level. Constant reliability 😊

Tables are a little too close together, therefore a very high noise level. Otherwise very good.

Everything was first class from the greeting on arrival to the superb expresso martini at the end ! Staff were amazing especially as it was extremely busy.

A nice evening, we sat upstairs but it was a little loud due to a large party

We had a lovely meal on Christmas Eve, and it was so nice to relax and be waited on.

It was my birthday lunch on Boxing Day. The restaurant showed no signs of Christmas fatigue. Both the food and service was excellent. The tournedos rossini was standout. Great waiter who convinced me that she was very pleased that it was my birthday. I have been before and will certainly go again. Thank you.

Food good although steak tougher than I have had before. Service mediocre had to keep reminding them of things eg bread arrived but no plates, no steak knife which was needed, coffee not delivered. Was told they were not that busy! So no excuse

We visited for a really lovely lunch on 27th December 2019. Despite the bargain, set price menu, we enjoyed really excellent food which was beautifully cooked and presented. That, coupled with faultless, truly professional service. As a footnote, I will say that we were very happy to see that Côte values its staff highly enough to add a 12.5% service charge. This is absolutely deserved, but sadly not guaranteed if simply left to the discretion of sometimes miserly diners. Also adding a service charge can be a difficult and risky route for a chain restaurant to go down. Well done to all at Côte Exeter! We will undoubtedly return and recommend.

The atmosphere, the table, the food and the attention to detail for my Sons 30th Birthday was amazing. The view of the Cathedral by night with the tree outside and the sound of people singing , coming from the Cathedral, as our guest came up to the restaurant was magical. Our guest were first time visitors to Exeter and were so impressed with the restaurant the staff and the food. Thank you for a magical night. I cannot recommend you guys highly enough.

A lovely festive meal for my husband and I just before Christmas. The food is reliable, very tasty, cooked to perfection and always very good. However the noise levels upstairs at busy times can be too much sometimes. Obviously this was the Christmas season so particularly loud. It didn’t spoil our festive experience though.
