Was all great, wonderful french onion soup, Duck and Steak. great service. My only criticism was that the tip was added to the bill @ 12.5% Personally I’d like to decide on the quality of the service and tip the individual directly.

Service was excellent and the food was delicious. We could not fault it. A very lovely experience. We always recommend it to friends and return frequently.

My husband and I had an excellent lunch. On arrival the table was set with the gluten-free menu as requested and the choice of red or white wine as offered. The whole see bream was delicious (we have previously had this dish so knew we were in for a treat!) and the chicken liver pate and coupe noire are always a favourite. The only reason for a “5” rating rather than a “6” is the noise level at the Exeter Cote.

The food, drinks and service were excellent, as always. It's a great place to eat when having a shopping day in Exeter but not if you want an intimate lunch as the acoustics are such that it is difficult to carry on a conversation and the tables are close together.

I went because of the free bottle of red wine offer. The staff were very helpful and prompt and pleasant. The food was excellent - the steak, as always, was perfect.

As always, the service is excellent, the food is exceptional and particularly good value for money in the early evening special deal. Have visited many, many times and it continues to be one of the best, if not the best places to eat in Exeter.

From walking into the restaurant to be welcomed by smiley staff we followed our head waitress upstairs to be seated next to the window opposite the great view of the Exeter Cathedral. Our starter was came promptly accompanied with the complimentary wine. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable as always. Had a lovely evening and it help make our first anniversary together. :)

The welcome and service were excellent. However, the food was over peppered for my liking. We had the soup of the day which was cauliflower and leek but there was so much pepper it was impossible to taste the vegetables. Certainly a good ploy to get customers to drink more, even if it was only several glasses of water! The steak was tender but again too much pepper. I shan't be ordering either of these choices again. Why do chefs insist on so much seasoning and not leave the choice to customer? Disappointing.

Lovely fish - sea bass and sea bream, and a delicious lemon tart. Friendly service. And a free bottle of wine. What's not to like?

Lovely meal, with a light starter and then choosing the duck confit from the ‘specials’ menu and my husband had cod goujons. We both thoroughly enjoyed our two courses and a very pleasant bottle of wine. Service was friendly and professional.

Cote remains a favourite. Good food, pleasant surroundings and top notch staff.! The menu changes often enough to not be boring but keeps the firm favourites available.

In a perfect position overlooking the Cathedral and green this lovely restaurant is perfect place to get together with family and friends. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Good selection from coffee and cake through 'plats rapide' to A La Carte. A definite return visit is on the cards!

Food was great, excellently cooked, service was very good, so good you wouldn’t think this was a chain restaurant. The rest room was very clean, which is refreshing and reassuring.

Excellent friendly service and lovely starter of smoked salmon, but the main course of fillet steak was dry and tasteless and cold and colourless and the creamed spinach was awful. We did not pay for the main course but it was a big disappointment and a bit of a downer on what should have been a sort of celebration lunch. The last time my husband had steak in Dorchester Cote it was fantastic - which is partly why we ordered it today.

Good location, pleasant ambiance, well-trained staff and most of all excellent food. Background music low which is appreciated as is adequate space between most of the tables.

Very enjoyable lunch , glad we had booked as it was Saturday & busy. It was difficult to find though. Good service & varied menu to suit all ‘pockets’. Our first visit & we will certainly look out for the Côte in other cities.

The food was brilliant, first class as always, unfortunately the service was not up to it's normal standards, we were very rushed & had to ask them to slow down, we were not given any side plates or cutlery to eat our charcuterie with, they brought our main course before we had quite finished our starter, we asked them to take it away & give us at least quarter of an hour, witch they did. And our dessert was then brought at a sensible time. Unfortunately we were then presented with the wrong bill, once given the correct bill the wine that should have been free of charge was included in the total. Unfortunately this took well over 10 minutes to sort out. The manager stepped in & graciously sorted out the problems. We left satisfied with the outcome. Clearly they are trying to fit in too many sittings per evening.

Food good and table service good BUT it seems impossible to get a good table in Exeter - we ALWAYS get placed next to the entrance and to large party groups - often next to a couple of them - we like a vibe but also like to be able to have a conversation without having to shout - they need a separate space or different room for party groups - they just take over the space - it’s quite unlike the other Cotes we go to.

Don't like your tipping system - 12.5% is high and applied automatically albeit you can say no if you want to make a show! Saying that we had no problem with the service, which was straightforwardly good.

Again a lovely visit, very quiet so staff a little over keen to take our orders at the expense of two potential customers outside who were ignored completely, they then came into the restaurant and kicked off!

An excellent experience - great atmosphere, great food and for great value for set lunch menu. The only reason I didn't give a 6 is I don't like when restaurants add a service charge to the bill on my behalf. I like to control this for myself. Thanks.

Normally I love going to Cote in Exeter, but they must have have been having a bad evening, the service was not as good as usual, items not available on the standard menus (charcuterie, apple crumble and no sea bass) . The steak was excessively salty. We had three or four different waiters, normally one. I still love going to Cote and hope this was just an anomaly or have things changed for the worse.
