Great food, great value for money and great atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
From arrival to departure the service was impeccable - the staff polite and courteous. The food showed attention to detail and could not be faulted. My first experience at your restaurant and I will be highly recommending to others. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Pleasant meal, efficiently served. Only one complaint - the free cocktails (very nice, by the way) were brought to the table without us being asked whether we actually wanted them. Two of our party do not drink alcohol and it would have been better to offer non-alcoholic drinks to them. The waitress told us that no non-alcohlic drinks were available, which we found difficult to accept. Review would have been four stars without this problem. The wine is overpriced, as it is in all UK restaurants.
Fabulous breakfast perfect experience, well done to the team, an overall 5 star experience
Good value for money food, pleasant service and wonderful ambience.
Always a pleasurable dining experience. Great value. Delicious food. A good range of drinks. Lovely staff. Try it if you haven't already...
Scrumptious September cocktail and delicious food! Faultless service. Highly recommended by us all! Reliably good on every level.
We have eaten in Cote Exeter before and bit been disappointed, but unfortunately we didn’t share the same experience in our recent visit . We think there may have been a staff shortage as we waited some time to be served. The food was of a great standard as normal, but the vegetable on the mains was warm, not hot and the dessert ( apple crumble) barely warm. It is a pity as the flavour and quality f the food is delicious,
Great great great food and service superb tasting food excellent
An enjoyable experience, only slightly marred by the fact that the seats had crumbs on when we arrived, plus the waiter left peas on the table when clearing the main plates and left them there for the rest of the meal. Slightly better trained staff would make it a delight. Love the food.
Excellent food and staff, excellent way to spend a birthday!
Good reasonably priced food, nice wines and efficient service. You can always rely on Cotes to be consistent. The venue at Exeter is particularly lovely - over three floors overlooking the Cathedral.
Most helpful and pleasant staff, first class food. thanks for a most enjoyable evening.
Fantastic food and really friendly and helpful staff. The view of the cathedral is amazing.
Sunday lunch for my wife and myself. Booked via the internet and received a complimentary cocktail which was delicious. Chose the sole meunière and profiteroles from the specials menus. Both delicious. My wife chose the lamb rump which was cooked to perfection along with tasty roasted vegetables. Great service as always at Exeter. Thank you.
We arrived early but that was no problem, and were taken to lovely window seat with view of Exeter Cathedral. Waitresses were very nice. I was surprised that the menu I had seen online was not available on Saturdays. This was disappointing, as I had hoped for the sea bream. The fish alternatives on main menu all cost as much as 3 entire courses on the lunch menu I'd hoped to enjoy. The menu that was put in front of us was I thought very limited - 3 or 4 dishes max, and all meat! I said I didn't eat meat, so we were then given a vegetarian menu, but there were no fish or seafood alternatives, which was again disappointing. So we reverted to the a la carte. My friend ordered the salmon - fine, but nothing special for the cost. Portion didn't look very generous. I went for the parmentier. This was very nice but I don't like eating out of pie dishes and didn't realise no vegetables were included, so it looked a bit stark. It took a long time for the food to arrive, so didn't want to risk asking for veg at that point. But it was a Saturday lunchtime so I imagine it is your busiest time. We would have desserts if the 3 course lunch menu had been available, but had already spent a lot on one course each, so decided to go to Patisserie Valerie fo cake & coffee instead. I got the strong impression that you don't try as hard on the weekend, as I have only been on weekdays before and had found the weekday menus much more interesting and affordable. I will continue to go on weekdays but feel pay too much for limited choice and uninspired choices on the weekend. Oh, and my glss of kir royale seemed extremely small! Perhaps it was caused by general feeling of disappointment overall.
Friendly and welcome excellent service and was very well presented
We were on the second floor which for most of the evening lacked atmosphere, other customers or waiting staff. So if booking Exeter stick to ground or first floors.
Lovely meal will be back , all the party enjoyed the evening x
Good service, good food and excellent value. Only downside is lack of variation on the menu. We have now eaten many times at different Cote restaurants within the last twelve months from Exeter to Norwich and more but the main menu does not seem to vary either by place or content . True the "specials " change but these are often expensive and limited. The quality of the food and the great friendly service is very attractive and the premises are always well located but the lack of menu choice lets the chain down.
Excellent food, excellent service. Marek is a credit to your establishment.
Starter good as was cheese board, Rib eye steak poor value for money, service ok
Went with friends and we all had a lovely breakfast. Thanks
Amazing view, great view and super friends! Lovely evening had by all. Impeccable service too! Thank you
Out table was not available when we turned up, it was too busy, short staffed, we waited ages to be served. We sent out meals back because the steaks were tough and grizzly, awful. Evening disappointing. I won’t be rushing back. Usually ok at Cote, tonight was the worst! Very very disappointing.
Fabulous evening. Great food. Great staff. Loved our complimentary Kir Royales too!
Just a wonderful eating experience yet again. Went for four mixed starters between the two of us and they were all so delicious.
Quick service, despite being very busy, and good quality, tasty food. Some bread on the table and it would have been perfect.
Service very good. Didn't like gratuity automatically added to bill though.
We took my brother and his wife for their first Cote visit. They were very impressed and as we have come to expect the food and service were excellent. We had a most enjoyable evening.
Always good predictable food with excellent brisk service and a great situation but the place is very noisy and this is a real downer.
Not as warm and inviting initially as St Paul’s branch in the City but waitress was excellent so the overall experience remained positive
Very friendly and attentive staff - veal sirloin was superb - a lovely birthday meal
Excellent all around. Fantastic food and efficient service. Highly recommended.
Always go back to Cote as it is consistently good food and service. Last night order moules which were lovely but there was a certain amount of grit/sand in the sauce. I didn’t eat the sauce and told the waitress. I would have thought someone would have spoken to me and/or apologised. It won’t stop me going back but felt it should have been dealt with in more professional way.
Nice service. Decent view. Excellent view. Would recommend without a doubt.
Very enjoyable. Perfect setting and a great meal with service to match
My time spent at Cotes never fails to impress me . Always a happy experience .
Slow start, but in the end a pleasant dining experience
great atmosphere, good service and tasty food. Will come again.
We've eaten at Cote, Exeter, on a few occasions and have always thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This time was no exception and it was the perfect choice for my husband's celebratory birthday lunch. Can't fault anything!
Everything was very nice - once I got in! I really hate the business of bottle-necking in the doorway (quite ridiculous when waiters are trying to get in and out with trays. I (amongst others) stood for several minutes waiting to be spoken to and shown to a table I'd already booked … where my friend had already been waiting for me for a while.
Wonderful, attentive, friendly service - we were very impressed! By far the best chain restaurant in Exeter. Consistently wonderful food, amazing prices and a lovely atmosphere. Couldn’t believe how quick the food was! The music was a little loud on entry, but we asked to turn it down and the staff were very accommodating. We had a fantastic time!
Once every six weeks or so my sister and I meet up at Cote Exeter now that the Royal Clarence no longer exists. We always enjoy the food which is consistently of good quality well presented by pleasant staff at reasonably good value
We have never been disappointed all the times we have been to Cote Exeter service and staff excellent too ! thank you cote
Lovely visit with my mother-in-law. The steak frites was delicious, the bread and butter were addictive, staff were courteous and the table by the window was great - shame about the sunlight and I could not sit across; weather eh?! It is good to know service is consistent so no matter when you visit you always have a great experience.
Excellent French bistro with decent prices in the heart of Exeter, right in front of the cathedral. One could not find a better location for a restaurant.
Have visited here several times and will continue to do so. Excellent service and food. I would highly recommend the restaurant to others.
Friendly staff and good service. Set menu offers a good variety of dishes at a reasonable cost.
Beautiful food. Lovely atmosphere. Attentive staff. Only criticism was the length of time it took to get the bill at the end.
