Côte Edinburgh

Meeting a friend for lunch in the ambiance of Côte Brassiere was a delightful experience, the food was delicious and the staff were attentive but not intrusive. We will visit again.

Very disappointing food my salad had no taste no avocado as stated on menu.The risotto was blend .The decor and music unauthentic .Waiters not French.I subscribed to newsletter no bottle of wine offered on my first booking no aperitif offered either.Only plus real napkin ouh la la !

Used this place many times. Food,wine and service are generally very good. Value for money is ok---not the best in town, but by no means the worst--but hey this is Edinburgh, where some restaurants reckon customers are just there to provide them with a living!

Great dinner and value for money given the Prestige set menu is available on Saturday until 7pm. Steaks perfectly cooked and seasoned. Staff great and accommodating in requests.

Our all time favourite place to relax at the end of a heavy Fringe Festival day. Terrific food at reasonable prices, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. Breton fish stew and duck breast are both highly recommended, and good wines by the glass make it easy when only one of you wants a drink.

It was a special occasion and the staff made us feel like VIPs. Perfect table, wonderful service and great food.

This was our first visit to Cote and I'm not sure we'll be back. Firstly, the good, the female staff member who came to take our drinks order was friendly and chatty and genuinely seemed to care. In terms of food, the bread was very nice as were the green olives, the other olives has a bit of an odd taste but I couldn't quite place it. That seemed to be it for the good. A male server took our order and, despite us ordering just mains, he asked us what we wanted to start. We had already ordered bread and olives he seemed quite pushy and asked what we wanted to drink, despite us already having wine and water. We had to ask for side plates when the bread arrived and, it took us a few minutes to get the attention of a staff member which was quite disappointing. However, we ate the bread and olives and were waiting for our dirty dishes to be removed when a kitchen porter arrived with the tray along with the waiter. The waiter looked at our table, turned to the server, took my meal from the tray and tried to put it down where my dirty bread/olive plate was. The next thing he said to me was "can you move your plate" I am completely shocked that a waiter would look at a table, see dirty dishes and expect the customer to move them. Before a main course is served any good waiter comes to remove dirty dishes. I was really disappointed. My husband's steak was okay, but he had to ask for a steak knife, that should have been brought straight away. After this we had spent enough time in Cote and were ready to leave but were given the dessert menu without being asked if we wanted it. We asked for the bill when the waiter came for our order and he seemed shocked, saying we would "really regret" not having a dessert. I had to ignore him and turn away. It was when the bill arrived that I realised why he was pushing starter, dessert and drinks (multiple times) that I realised why, Cote add 12.5% 'optional service charge' to the bill. We were certainly not going to be giving 12.5% and, when my husband asked for this to be taken off, the waiter was very taken aback and, either he didn't understand, or just played dumb as he entered the full amount with service charge into the machine for my husband to put his pin in, again, my husband had to explain he was not paying the service charge and this was finally taken off. This was such a disappointment as it feels as though this is not actually an optional charge! The wait staff should not take the huff if customers refuse to pay an "optional" charge.

As usual a very good meal at Cote. I pre-ordered the lobster to make sure I got it and there was no problem.

Another great meal, with excellent service from Sylvain and Justyna. The duck and the lamb were delicious, as were the charcuterie board and the bread. Very good value wine, too (we had the St Chinian).

We had a wonderful night. We arrived much earlier than our reservation but were quickly accommodated. The venue and atmosphere were lovely and relaxed. The food was fantastic and I was particularly impressed by the veggie/vegan menu. We also used a code for a complimentary bottle of wine which was really tasty and made the whole meal great value for money.

Food was lovely and amazing. We enjoyed our 1st year anniversary and had complementary champagne for it, a nice touch for first timers. Will definitely come back in the future.

The best Croque Monsieur and Crème Caramel ever. Helping size was just right and satisfied until late evening. We lunched from 12 Noon so noise level and service was impeccable. By the time that we left, an hour or so later, the restaurant was almost full and staff and customers all looked very happy. Excellent service and great food.

Had a brilliant meal. The set menu was really great. Ideal for gluten free.

On entering the restaurant the waiter was a bit curt with my partner who was looking for me but once I arrived everything went smoothly and the service and food were great. Watch out though as a 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill

Great restaurant for somebody with Coeliac Disease. Interesting gluten free menu and loved the little flags with gluten free written on them that came with each dish. Felt a very safe place for me to dine. Lovely staff and tasty good quality dishes. The other 2 members of the party enjoyed the food as well. We will return.

Overall pleasant, with good food. The veal was especially well-received, but the crepe looked and tasted tired. Noise from other tables intruded.
