Very good. Enjoyable meal, the staff attentive. However the restaurant was very cold until someone asked for the air conditioning to be turned off. I had put my coat over my shoulders, however the staff did not comment....I did not realise the problem was the air conditioning!!!!
Great food, friendly staff, good atmosphere. The perfect score would have had a wider selection on the fixed menu and been even more competitively priced, but would highly recommend. I had never dined at Cote before, but will definitely do so again.
Our first time in Cote Edinburgh, really enjoyed our meal and wine and the staff were very nice and very attentive. We will definitely go back again in the future.
Food wine and service were excellent however we were seated upstairs the fittings of which are somewhat sparse resulting in a very noisy atmosphere. Will return but will insist on table in main floor.
Good welcome, nice ambience. Main meals were supplemented by "fries" as both were fairly minimal but tasty. Sweets were worthy of consideration. We will return.
We enjoyed a very tasty lunch in pleasant surroundings. Service was excellent and staff helpful and efficient. Will definitely return and would recommend to others.
Food was good, just odd menus? A simple 2 course set lunch for both adults and kids is missing, and yet something the French do so well. Please introduce and we'll be back.
First time I have visited. Lovely place great food Will definitely be going back again Staff very helpful and very helpful All round great experience
Excellent food, wine and service. Can recommend Cote as an excellent lunch venue in Edinburgh city centre whether you live locally or you are visiting the city.
We were meeting up with old friends who are very discerning diners. They, and we , loved the food, the place ,the whole experience. Our waiter could not have been more helpful. Full marks
Lovely meal, nice menu .... however there were errors on our bill with a bottle of wine added that we hadn't ordered. I was also presented with a "complimentary" glass of champagne for my birthday - nice touch - but was really disappointed to find it had been added to my bill!! Fortunately I always scrutinise my bill so we had it amended (without any hassle) to what it should have been. Despite this hiccup on my first visit I will go back again.
We had a lovely 3 course lunch from the lunch menu and a delicious bottle of wine. At £12.50 for 3 courses they are perfect size for lunch and well presented.Friendly helpful staff our visit was a delight.
My yoga/fitness group have been going to Cote in Frederick Street for coffee since it opened in Edinburgh. Since we go regularly, once or twice a week we have got to know the staff who are very attentive. Today was the second time I had been for lunch. My friend and I each had the 2 course lunch for £10.95 plus a glass of wine and coffee which came to just over £20. Both starters were generous portion-wise, innovative in presentation and ingredients. I chose the crab and avocado and my friend chose the tuna. For the main course she selected the fishcake and I took the breaded chicken breast which was more than ample. We each had a small glass of nicely chilled Cabinet Sauvignon. For a budget lunch in the capital the quality and quantity are excellent.
Food very good, ambiance less so. Dark chocolate pots with creme fraiche excellent, as always. But the restaurant was very noisy - not a relaxing environment. And I'm not very happy about your 'optional' gratuity of 12.5 being added to the bill.
One avocado/chicken salad with bacon did not contain avocado. Did not like the Roquefort dressing and it was very difficult eating out of the glass bowl
My friend and I enjoyed a breakfast deal. There are lots of choice and the food we had was delicious. We also received a lovely freshly squeezed orange juice and coffees. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
Fab restaurant, great food and service. My friend and I enjoy the steak with a lovely bottle of the house dry white. Staff where very attentive. And friendly
We were seated at the round table in the centre of the rear room and found (don't know if it was the height of the ceiling) it very noisy. The service was very good and all our needs were catered for efficiently. The food was excellent but I must put in an extra word for the wonderful starters.
It was our first visit to Côte and my friend & I had a lovely meal. Our waitress couldn't do more for us & was very attentive. I have dined in your Bristol restaurant and wondered whether Edinburgh would have a similar ambience. I think I preferred Bristol from that point of view but it was lunch here instead of dinner whcih makes a difference. Overall very good.
Have visited Cote Edinburgh on several occasions and never been disappointed. We enjoyed the kir royale offer and the menu gives plenty of choice although there was limited fish today. Food was very good and service attentive without being intrusive.
On previous experience, Cote has been excellent. This time, however, it was very average. They couldn't give us our requested table despite a full weeks notice, the recommended wine had ran out and our sirloin steaks were not great. We enjoyed the evening and will be back but we hope things will be better next time.
Nice reasonably priced food, in a pleasant setting. Creamy crepes with mushrooms were especially nice.the r are a lot of tempting items on the menu, so there is always an option to return for more.
Great food, great choice, excellent service, planning to go back again or visit other branches when in travelling in the Scotland and England over the summer.
2 of the main meals (haddock) arrived without the sauce, which had to be requested and brought to the table separately. Cod goujons were sold out which we were not told if at the time of ordering and this overall was disappointing for a large restaurant chain to not have items on the menu.
lovely experience, enhanced firstly by welcoming staff at front door, table servers, and most of all - the quality, choice and value for money of the food. great ambience, subtle attentiveness and all round enjoyable first visit.
We had to wait quite a while for the bottle of wine which we ordered to be delivered to our table. During that time we were trying to attract attention of waiting staff which again took too long. When the bottle of white wine arrived it was not chilled. We were given an ice bucket but it had not been prepared correctly - a small amount of ice at the bottom and not enough water to allow the bottle to be chilled. We had to go up to counter to ask for this to be rectified. The asparagus with the lamb dish was very over cooked. We do not agree with the automatic 12.5% service charge which is sneaked onto the bill. Other than that the food was fairly good but not stunning - apart from the banana and chocolate sauce pancake desert which was excellent.
Cote Brasserie never disappoints. My friends have all been delighted to find such a gem of a restaurant. Great food at affordable prices. Thanks Cote!
The service was very attentive but measured. The food was excellent throughout, with special mention for the provision of an entirely separate gluten-free menu, which for my wife for the main draw of the restaurant. We weren't disappointed. Not the cheapest restaurant you will every visit but the price was fair for the quality of food and the portion sizes were good.
Good value on the early dining menu, the waiters were working very hard but the overall effect looked as though they were understaffed. The usual efficient lady manager was not on duty.
Excellent value and great breakfast and service thoroughly recommend. This was rewards deal bogof but at full price would be very good value, will go again
This has now been my 5th visit and it has been great every time! I cannot wait until my next visit and I will be recommending to all my friends.
Not as good as our previous experience which was excellent. We were seated upstairs which was not ideal for one of our guests and when we asked if we could be seated downstairs we were advised that this had to be booked which was news to us.
We booked an early evening meal from the a la carte menu and found the food and service excellent. Surprised to find out our server knew nothing of the 10th year birthday which was to be celebrated during the month of June with a free Kir Royale to customers ordering from the a la carte menu!!??
Food was up to usual high standard, but service, to begin with, was rather disjointed. I was in just before 6pm - not sure if it was a "shift" changeover. I had to ask twice for water - normally you get this served immediately you sit down - one of the "plus" points of Cote Brasserie. Also, a customer, who then sat at the table next to mine, had a problem trying to attract staff to take her order. More staff seemed to come on duty after 6pm and the service then improved.
Atmosphere was great, the food excellent and the staff were brilliant. The only comment would be maybe a couple of French dishes. Thank you all.
Excellent first experience at Cote Frederick street. All the staff looked after us very well. Especially the Duty Manager and out waitress Adeline. I shall be back very soon.
The venue is a pleasant place. Reception was good. The menu for lunch was reassuring in length and adequately varied. The food was well presented and good to taste. The lunch price was impressive given the quality. Our waiter was from Hungary. I forget his name but he was very pleasant and professional. We will be back.
The food and service were excellent. We had the Breton fish stew, salmon and goat cheese salad. We had a nice bottle of wine and cloudy lemonade. The crime caramel dessert was excellent. Service was attentive. Nice clean restaurant.
Very good overall. Excellent food. Nice round table for group of 6 on a celebration dinner. Ordered a bottle of sparkling wine to start. Assured by waiter that it was chilled. But then he returned to admit it wasn't, so 10 mins delay or chose another more expensive bottle. We opted for the more expensive one. Not too happy with the 12% service charge being added, but I guess that's London effect. To be fair I thought the main courses were very reasonably priced
Very friendly staff, good food and lovely atmosphere . Liked the variety of dishes on the al la carte menu. Also enjoyed the complimentary Kir Royales!
Absolutely order the chicken liver parfait! It's fantastic! Service a little slow but all food delicious. I would definitely go back. Did not try the deserts, however they looked lovely.
Lovely meal, reasonably priced, very pleasant waiting staff. Couldn't fault anything. Have been many times before and will return again. Love the changing monthly menu.
Excellent French food and great service! Went for the Pre theatre two courses at £10.95, it was a very good deal. I would definitely recommend!
Early evening set menu is excellent value and the quality of the food good. This was our third visit to this restaurant and have always been happy with our dinning experiences.
Friendly helpful staff and delicious food . Good combination for a lovely lunch. Have never been disappointed so far. Long may that continue. Look forward to the next one
We were drawn in by the 3 course meal option. Not only was it extremely affordable but every dish we were served was absolutely delicious. The amount of food given was also way more than we expected for the price. Finally, the wait staff was extremely attentive, helpful, and truly seemed to care about their patrons. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Friendly helpful staff and delicious food . Good combination for a lovely lunch. Have never been disappointed so far. Long may that continue. Look forward to the next one
Really great food and service. Very allergy aware.Entertaining chats with Andy the manager made for a lovely evening. Throughly recommend this place in a quieter spot in a busy city.
Very good, the GF menu is great & the kids menu is fab. Would definitely recommend Cote to my friends or any Coeliac people, th y now what's important to us.
Good service, attentive staff, delicious food. Only reason it's not a 6 is there was an issue with kir royal and so we couldn't have them.
Service and staff good. Not my first time at Cote, but I felt that the food was not quite up to the previous standard, on this visit.
