Côte Edinburgh

My new favourite restaurant! Very friendly, very warm, very French, very attentive to requirements. I warned my son, who has a good appetite, may find his plate a little sparse, but it suited me very well.

Staff and surroundings excellent, however we unfortunately had to send my husband's duck back as it was still quacking! After waiting the promised 10 mins for a fresh portion, once this came, it too was severely undercooked. The lovely waiter and the manager were very apologetic, and we got complimentary desserts and port in compensation, but it did spoil our evening somewhat. We have been to other branches of Cote and the food has been wonderful.

Very nice meal despite a number of menu options being unavailable. Exceptional service and real value for money. Will certainly return and recommend to others.

We had lovely meal and the staff were very helpful. Inededto come in with my wheelchair and they stored it for me and helped me out when we left. I particularly enjoyed my starter: warm Roquefort salad, then had a steak with very good frites. Then I had the grand mariner crepe which was exceptional. And the prices are very reasonable.

The few things we wanted on the menu they had run out. We arrived at 6.30 for a table we booked and it was disappointing they had sold out on food.

Our friends, who were on holiday from Wilmslow, enjoyed their first visit to Cote, Edinburgh with us and were impressed with the quality of the food, nice surroundings and friendly staff. I personally was a little disappointed with the Duck Breast main meal I had. I had chosen this because I'd had it on another recent visit. However last night's was not up to their usual standard as it was a bit 'fatty' and not as tasty. That said, everything else was most enjoyable and won't put me off on future. Thank you.

Excellent service. Excellent value for money on set menu. Definite winner. Have been couple of times now and will definitely continue to enjoy in the future.

I had to ask for our wine, bread. A tray of drinks were dropped by our table. Some plates dropped behind us. Service not great, food ok but overpriced. Won't be back

Food good but service very slow. Child menu portion extremely small. Our 7 year old was still hungry. I do still get cross about the ‘optional’ but included as standard of the 12.5 % service charge.

November set menu another winner, very efficient and cheerful service too.

The food was excellent and such good value for the lunch menu. It is good that they change the menu regularly as I will go back very soon.

Excellent meal with a complimentary bottle of wine. Would highly recommend the Cote de Boeuf (sharing plate for two). It was delicious and came with fries and a bernaise sauce.

Ate from the set menu, which was excellent value for money. On request a gluten free menu was swiftly provided. The service was very good and staff helpful and friendly. All in very pleasant surroundings.

We had a great meal - our one year old was made very welcome and the service was really good. We can recommend the steak frites.

Wife wasn’t taken with 12.5% add to bill for tip automatically, no one asked if we wanted it added, we would have added tip anyway

We’ve not eaten in a Côte restaurant since leaving London 18 months ago and it was great to find that the standard hasn’t changed. We visited the Edinburgh branch with friends from Australia and they were amazed to learn that it was part of a chain as the standard of food was so high. The staff were excellent and gave us a quiet table where we could talk at length undisturbed and unhurried. It was much appreciated.

Lovely atmosphere with friendly staff happy to advise on the menu. We have visited as a couple and a family and equally enjoyed both. Food excellent with a lovely range of meals. Will definitely visit again.

Very attentive service. Arrived early but were welcomed and could linger for as long as we chose. Good selection of dishes- good value for money.

Food very good and service friendly. As with most restaurants in Edinburgh however it can be noisy because now insulation from carpets or curtains and noise rebounds.

Excellent great value lunch at Cote Edinburgh. The food and service are consistently good. We had a three course lunch from the set menu. Will definitely return. Big shout out to Harry who was very nice and friendly.

Service excellent; some disappointment with Langoustines 'tails' - semed to be typical commercialy available minced scampi and chicken jus was disappointing, Moules and Hake were both good.

Very pleasant staff and good choice of menu in this city centre restaurant. Food was excellent. The lights were very low which made it difficult to see the food however.

Very good food, excellent service and lovely venue. We have eaten here several times now and have never been disappointed. The staff are wonderfully welcoming.

We had a delightful meal at Cote - the service was excellent, the atmosphere was calm and civilised, and the food was outstanding, including wonderful charcuterie and the second best cassoulet I've ever had (the best was in Toulouse!). We also received a free bottle of very decent French Merlot, which went very well with the food.

Good quality food & value for money. Attentive service in a relaxed & pleasant atmosphere. A great lunch experience. I am sure will return soon

excellent food and service. we took friends there and it was their first visit. They enjoyed it very much and will likely be back soon. Good value but would prefer the service charge not to be added - perfectly happy to tip for good service though and it was very good.

The food was not as good as at other Cote's we have visited. We were seated at the back of the restaurant which was very noisy making conversation almost impossible. The staff, however, were good.

Good food, set menu excellent value. Pleasant friendly service, and relaxing pace , no rushing us to leave the table. Only improvement would be to have custard with the crumble!

Very enjoyable lunch. Staff were excellent and food was good. Did not order from set lunch menu as did not really like any of the choices. Had the salmon from the light main menu instead.

The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was lovely and very happy that it was piping hot, some restaurants insist on serving lukewarm food. Four of us were all happy with everything that we had

Excellent meal and great surroundings. There was a delay with our sweet course which we were going to cancel and just have coffee but the head waiter/manager dealt with this superbly well without question. Will definitely be back

Lovely clean and tidy restaurant, perfect greeting, waiting staff cheerfull. The food as always superb. Made our visit to Edinburgh extra special. Cannot wait to return.

The service was very good and the food lovely. We had the set menu available before 7pm which was very good value for money. Would definitely come back again

Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Good atmosphere and welcoming, friendly staff. Our party of four were seated in a comfortable corner table and enjoyed our visit enormously - will become our 'local' for 'girly' lunches.

We were very unhappy that the server added the gratuity to our bill without asking. Normally we wouldn't care. In this case our server knew we had ordered GF menu items and at the end our daughter ordered sorbet for her dessert. We saw a sorbet go by our table with the person from the kitchen looking for our server. It came back to our table and it didn't have the wafer in it that was there when it went by. My husband wanted to confirm with the server that wasn't the same sorbet because we didn't think the wafers were gluten free and even if it was taken out particles of wheat could be in the sorbet. When he asked the server the server was a bit hesitant and then he said they were gluten free. My husband then asked why the sorbet didn't have the customary GF flag on it and the server then took it away. He brought another sorbet out. We asked to speak to the manager after he brought the bill with the gratuity on it. We explained what happened to the manager just so the server understood how important it is to be truthful and protect customers from potential ingestion of something that could make them sick. The manager then waived our bill - that wasn't what we wanted when we asked to speak to him but I suppose he felt it was what was necessary. We eat at the Cote Brasserie in Bury St Edmunds almost once a month and we felt very assured of their understanding of the importance of a GF diet and were hopeful that it is a chain standard - the way our server lied to us and how he was we aren't certain of that. We always look forward to eating at places where there is a good standard of service but honestly now we are going to be less excited about eating at a Cote Brasserie outside Bury.

Food was cold and waited far too long for our food sat down at 1.10 starter at 1.30 and main course at 2.05 pm.our lunch hour was 1 till 2.

My friend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch at Cote, it was a birthday gift to her and was warmly received. Service was great and did not feel rushed to leave, will be back.

Very good food, great cooking with flavour and great taste. Highly recommended. Good customer area with a full dining area of ladies who lunch and chatter.

As part of a birthday treat trip to Edinburgh we took advantage of the offer of a free bottle of wine with our meal. I also got an email offer for my birthday of a complimentary glass of Kir Royale on arrival but apparently can't use the two offers together which I can understand for general offers but thought the birthday treat may just be a once a year extra. However, our meals were memorably good, the wine delicious, and the service attentive and professional leaving us vowing to return again as soon as possible! And as for the bill - it was worth every penny.

Super Sunday lunch. Food was very good and the wind was cold! Staff were very attentive without bring intrusive. Hope we'll be back again soon.

Delightful - great service - good food - I will be going again and I got a free bottle of wine because it was my birthday.

Lovely food plus welcoming and friendly service - the only thing stopping me giving it full marks is that our sharing board hadn’t been removed from the table when our main courses arrived.

The service was excellent, we liked our table position very much and enjoyed all our food. The French Onion soup is always a big hit - all 3 of us ordered it!

Lovely waiter.....as usual, but we sat upstairs in an empty room , and weren't given a window seat as requested, (although the table by the window remained empty all evening). Food was mostly good, but their wonderful creme caramel still not back on the menu.

Nice location. Staff polite and courteous. . Food excellent. Especially the sea bass and lamb special. Will recommend to friends and family when visiting here.
