We had the 3-course pre-theatre lunch. Excellent value at £13.95. Whitebait for two, sea bream (could have been served with some potatoes!) and steak frites, creme caramel and apple crumble - all dishes first-rate ingredients and very well cooked. A glass of muscadet and one of chinon were very good. Total bill for two including service was £43. Service was friendly and efficient, and we enjoyed a relaxing hour and a half lunch before going to our theatre showing. The one jarring note was that when we arrived we were given the choice of three 2-tops - one beside an occupied 4-top, the other two intruded upon by a pillar. We asked if we could sit at an adjacent 4-top (the restaurant was almost empty) but that was refused, so we chose the least uncomfortable 2-top. By the time we left, the restaurant was half full, and we might easily have been given any of half a dozen vacant 4-tops. We won't go back to this restaurant as a couple just because there are so many (TOO many) uncomfortable 2-tops.
I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant., My wife and I went for a pre theatre meal and had the most enjoyable time. The choice of menu was excellent, but the evening was made special by the really pleasant and welcoming staff, and although the place was extremely busy, nothing was too much trouble. Particular mention for the Manager (trainee) who was exceptional in his approach, and we will certainly return at an early date.
Staff and service, food, wine etc. all very good, as usual. Very relaxed and enjoyable pre-ballet Friday brunch. Recommend in general but especially for anyone wanting proximity to ROH.
nice place. very handy for theatres. Good service with nice staff. Food Ok. Not stunning but nice enough. I would go again for pre theatre for reasonable food and ease.
Extremely busy restaurant. Very good and pleasant service, our Italian waiter was really friendly and helpful. As usual great pre theatre meal with variety of choice to suit everybody's taste.
service and food were very good, will be oing back soon. . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Very Central for pre theatre dinner always very busy and like all the Cote chain the Al La Carte menu could do with an update.
Really enjoyed the food. We went there and had food for the pre theatre selection. Really good value for £13 we got a lot of food
Excellent service. Set menu very good value. First steaks poor (one poorly cooked and other very gristley) but both changed without fuss and we really enjoyed the meal.
We were shown to the table of our choice and the service was excellent as was the food. The staff also were most helpful in not insisting that we had the free bottle of wine on that day and contacting Quandoo on our behalf. There were only two of us yesterday evening. There will be four or five of us visiting the restaurant on 30th March when a full bottle would be much more appreciated than leaving more than half a bottle of wine yesterday. We visit Cote in Convent Garden regularly and have always been satisfied.
I would normally give Cote top marks. We have never had a bad experience at one of their restaurants. However on this occasion the service was not up to its usual standard and the main course was not as hot as it could have been. We ended up rushing due to the time taken to bring food. Will be back as we LOVE their food but hope for better service next time.
Great service- we were on our way to a matinee performance so time was critical to us - and delicious, as ever, food! Staff were helpful, seated us straight away and somehow must have prioritised our order, which was served in quicksticks! Thank you, Cote, for another lovely Lunch!
The service was excellent and the food is always amazing, the value for money is definitely the best part about the restaurant! A go to of mine.
The 3-course lunch has a wide menu and provides unbelievable value for such high quality food. The wine list is equally attractive. And the service was excellent.
Nice service and interesting choice on the set menu. BUT we were stuck at a table in a side corridor, very hugga mugga, and cramped! Penny P
Really nice place ,made very welcome, the food was good and the prices reasonable. Wlll definitely return , it is essential to book as it's very busy pre theatre
The staff were friendly and served great food . There was a good selection to choose from on the menu. I would recommend this restaurant.
Everything first class. Food, drinks, manager, and especially a very good waitress who helped to make the lunch. Overall a very enjoyable experience and day.
Waited one and a half hours for our main meal. The reason given was that the kitchen lost the order slip. Food was only eventually delivered after the manager intervened. This ruined our meal because we then had to rush our main course to leave in time to reach our theatre booking. No time for dessert course or coffee.
Although we turned up 30 mins. early for our booking we were accepted very happily. Also although the restaurant was very busy our orders were taken promptly and efficiently and our food came in good time. The pre-theatre menu for 3 courses is extremely good valu and well worth considering.
The food was good and reasonably priced The waiting staff were attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our food. You might want to take a torch as it was very dark in there and difficult even to read the menu.
Again another great evening. Very friendly & helpful staff. Food as always delicious, very well cooked & delivered efficiently & with good humour. Thank you, we shall be back soon
Perfect meal in every way. Service was excellent with a great atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was excellent too, beautifully displayed and hot. Thank you for a great meal.
Food was well cooked and presented attractively. The items on the menu are sold at a very good price. Efficient and friendly service throughout the meal.
It was crowded with the pre-show rush but we expected that and the staff were working hard to cope. The choice of food was wide and what the 5 of us had was all good. The staff were friendly and helpful despite the rush (until about 7.00 p.m.)
The food and service were excellent and the set menu was excellent value with a good range of options and made it worth visiting Cote.
Had a reservation for 7. We were squished into what was clearly a table for 6. Food was good but as we were crowded into a small space it was difficult to enjoy.
excellent throughout. Our arrival was anticipated and the table was ready for us on our arrival. The menu was tempting making it difficult to choose as a number of dishes would have been very acceptable. Service maintained the standard and the bill was reasonable in terms of London prices generally. I think value for money is a major attraction to Cote for A lot of people.
Good service good food good value but just a bit noisy. Overall a very pleasing experience and would definitely go again when the opportunity arises.
We were late and so in a rush before a show, but the understanding waiters, super-fast service and impeccable quality of the food were exemplary.
We often go to Cote as the food is consistently good and the waiters are always polite and the service is always friendly. We will continue to be regulars at Cote.
This really isnt the best of the usually reliable chain. They were very busy but even so the service and food were mediocre. I will avoid this branch in future
The restaurant has a nice cosy atmosphere. There is a good choice on both the a la carte and set menus, and the food was as delicious as always. The service was friendly and attentive.
Very good food and good quality wine. We found the staff both delightful and efficient. The restaurant is in a very convenient position and competitively priced. We will come again.
the service was good the food was fabulous the wine was great and the company was even better a perfect end to perfect the day
Looked after very well, but my first course of calamari was over cooked, there were three in our party & everone else enjoyed their meals.
Good food at a good price but out of all Cortes in London this one feels very much as though you are packed in like sardines, everything feels a bit rushed , but service is good as is food and obviously it is in a very busy area.
Made a reservation for 6pm, but there were 3 couples ahead of us queuing for tables who had also made reservations. Got table by 6.30
Lovely meal. I had the warm beetroot salad followed by the Beef Bourguignon, both were delicious. My husband had the pre-theatre menu, pea and mint soup, followed by steak and chips and then the creme caramel. He said his was also delicious. Good value - meals plus 2 bottles of wine - £90 - can't fault that
Food and service very good. Only downside was the table we were seated at in a very cramped corner.....no room for staff or customers to get round us and right by the main door .....so had curtain blown onto us every time the door opened.....so frequently!!
Service was a bit slow and in the end we had to leave quickly as we were going to see a show. I thought the bill was a bit high but didn't have time to check it. When I looked at the bill later we had been overcharged. We were charged for 2 pre theatre 2 course meals and my elderly Mother only had a bowl of soup. The food was excellent as usual and the staff were all super friendly.
We had a great time. The service was particularly good. It was our friend's birthday and we had brought a cake and candles and our waitress got a group together to bring out the cake and sing happy birthday which we really appreciated. The food was delicious.
Great location for our Theatre visit , speedy service. Pre theatre menu good, however small portions. Cramped seating arrangement , very close to next Diners. We were joined by another guest , who was told he couldn't have a hot choice from the menu as he was not included in my original booking !!!!!!That was disappointing.
We were celebrating our mum's birthday at Cote in Covent Garden. We raised our glasses to wish our mum a happy birthday, and the waitress very kindly wished her birthday too. After our delicious main courses the staff then brought our mum a dessert with a candle in and sang happy birthday; we had not pre-ordered this so it was a very kind surprise. Thank - you!
Location good, food good , service good, but why is the service charge already shown on the bill, do not like this at all, should be down to the customers discretion without out pressure from Cote
Great place to eat for a speedy pre theatre dinner. Good to have set menu and full menu available. Service good too, billing took a little while! But overall v pleased and good value.
My friends and I are now in out sixties. We have grown up together but now live so far apart. When we get together for our "lushes lunch" we always choose Cote as the menu is great and you have one of our favourite wines. Thanks.
Great place very friendly and helpful staff . Excellent price and location to celebrate our girls day out . Food good as always . We will return .
Always a nice evening at core restaurants, staff are always friends and food enjoyable. House red wasn't great in this occasion but that was the only disappointment
Absolutely packed not helped by the rain. Table delayed 25 minutes but staff very attentive and ensured we made our theatre time. The food was great. The theatre menu terrific value.
