Very busy from 5.30 to 7.30 then eases off. Great food. Staff work really hard in this manic eating house. Tables, loos clean. I know most eating places in London slap on a 12.5% charge, but I do not advocate this assumed imposition. I believe we should be free to reward good service as we feel appropriate, and restaurants, especially chains, should all pay a living wage.

Consistently good as always. Ideal for pre theatre. Fast efficient service, good priced menu and convenient for many venues. Expect Cote St.Martins Lane to be noisy though and you must book ahead.

Food lovely. Service a little slower than usual but to be fair it was the busiest I've ever seen it! Returning soon after a theatre trip.

Friendly service with excellent food. The house wine was good value and the kirs were a good aperitif. The best chocolate mousse in the world was great to end.

Perfect for a pre-theatre meal. Very busy but table was ready, service was excellent and food good; really good value for money for a restaurant in central London. Would definitely use again.

As ever, the Cote chain is reliable. The St Martin's Lane branch is no exception with quality food served in a timely manner for theatre goers. The pre-theatre is good value with my only bugbear being the 12.5% service charge being over the top! Overall, would recommend this branch for ambience in addition to food.

We came early as we were going to the theatre. We were served promptly and courteously and we thought the choice on the menu more than adequate. You set a good standard. Alastair

The food was great as always but the service was a bit slow and I had to ask for correction of my bill as the complimentary drinks were added instead of being deducted.

The restaurant was very busy so the service staff seemed a bit stressed with the number of people they had to serve. Didn't help that everyone was there for at least a two course lunch. Our food arrived in good time and was very tasty.

Service was good. I was seated and my order taken in a fair amount of time. Food and drinks came promptly, one slight point is that sometimes service could be a bit too quick as my plate was almost taken away before I had finished. I do want to go back though.

Very nice food and quick efficient service by polite staff! Very busy because the food is so good so I would recommend you book in advance if visiting this lovely restaurant particularly if your going to a show! We booked for 5 which is just about right for the theatre at 7.30! Enjoy

The table was ready, the food was up to Cote's usual standard (good), arrived quickly but we did not feel hurried. My only reservation is that the tables are very close together - I know why, but I would prefer a little more space.

Service and food excellent. Tables a little too close together. Restaurant overall a little too noisy (pre-matinee theatre crowd); shows the restaurant is popular and doing the basics right.

Pre-theatre meal very good value as always, tasty, well presented and quick service. The slight disappointment was their renowned crème caramel desert which we always have. It is now smaller and served without any cream which they used to do. I would willing pay an extra 50p on the set menu price for it to be as it used to be, always the highlight of our many meals there.

Food - overcooked fish and chicken dishes. The Chicken & bacon dinner had very dry chicken and the beans had no sauce on them. Basically a mouthful of dry. Service - was poor. We needed an extra couple of seats and they moved a table over and then didn't get around to giving us the cutlery or napkins for those people - despite asking - until we were being served our mains. Those people had to lend cutlery to one additional person as they had none for the entree. We ordered a second bottle of wine well before the main was served and it never arrived. We were then given dessert menus and no-one ever came back to take our orders. After another half an hour of waiting we had had enough and asked for the bill.

This was my 3rd visit to this Cote but I was a bit disappointed this time in the presentation of my starter and main course. The Jerusalem Artichoke gratinee was very short on artichokes consisting mainly of potato, and the sauce was quite thin, it did not look very tempting. My main course of Sea Bream with flagelot beans looked as if it was on a bed of baked beans that had dried out slightly. I asked for a large bottle of Perrier water but they had run out and so I was served Badoit, which I am not very keen on. The food tasted ok, it just didn't look appealing, however the staff were very pleasant and I would probably use the restaurant again.

Quick and polite service, we were offered a window seat on a busy and lovely day, the food was of a good standard and the staff checked back promptly. Would definitely return and recommend. Only criticism would be a small offering of wines by the glass available for a light lunch, certainly not the end of the world.

Could not fault the food, but the service was not so well , the waiter informed us as she took us to the table that we had to be out in less than 2 hours, we would have liked to have had time for a coffee and biscuits and cheese but felt pressured to leave on time as were told there was a group of 250 people turning up , overall would recommend, but check how long you have to eat!!

Cote can be a bit hit and miss. A few years back I and a friend only had time to finish one course of a pre-theatre dinner after being left unattended for about 25 minutes. However, on a good day, the restaurant is brilliant, as it was for me and my husband on our recent pre-theatre visit. Great food, great service on a very busy evening.

As always a good meal in a bustling lively atmosphere. Food consistently good, in particular the grilled Breton chicken. My wife is gluten free and there is a separate gluten free menu, which is a bonus. The only very minor criticism was that my wife did not have as much cheese in the French Onion Soup as I had in my non gluten free soup!
