We had a lunch there with good friends, the atmosphere and seating is good, staff are attentive but the food is not what I expected. Vegetarian only have one option and it is not a tasty meal. Mine beef was ok but again nothing special. Shame! Cause we expected more. Desserts were also boring. Sadly to say we won't come back. The 12% "optional" tips was added, I do resent paying it. The whole meal is not worth the extra but of course it's too awkward to ask for it to be taken off. Guess that's how your company work otherwise you probably won't get any tips. Overall feel very disappointed, potentially a nice restaurant but perhaps need to change your chef and your tipping policy.

Stopped in for supper and was, as usual, not disappointed. Staff as great as ever, food exactly as described and came away completely satisfied. Recommended dessert: Coupe Noir - simple and delicious (smile nicely and ask for nuts to be added for extra hit!).

Excellent food, very busy for a Sunday evening so they must be doing things right. Only criticism is the 12.5 pc service charge on everything, about time this was stamped out.

An excellent meal and a lovely evening. The only reason this is not a 6 star rating in that the main meal portions were quite small. The staff work so hard ...😊

As always a lovely meal , made more enjoyable by excellent service. A nice baby friendly area near the entrance (we had our newborn granddaughter with us for a family meal). Thank you for our free May cocktails. The Elliott family 👍

We had a reasonably pleasant dining experience at Cote in Clifton Village. The ambiance and atmosphere was good and the quality of the food was generally good. However, my mum ordered the lamb rump and found it to be rather chewy and tough which was disappointing. Despite this, my meal of demi poulet and my brother's meal of boeuf bourginon were of a good quality. The waiter and waitress dealt with this well though, as they offered my mum a complimentary pudding which was a nice touch for Mothers Day. We shall be back again soon hopefully.

As usual Côte was very busy but we were greeted by a smiling face. The food, wine and service was excellent. When we asked for the bill it came promptly and we were on our way. This Côte is consistently good. Well done to everybody concerned.

The brunch could have been served hotter. The formule breakfast is good value. Staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was welcoming and lively. The noise level is high due to the lack of floor covering.

Always reliably good, with realy consistently great levels of staff service and invidiuality. Great staff service adds a great deal to the whole dining experience. Two areas where the restaurant could have improved - don't run out of stock of a promotional Negroni drink you've offered for the whole of June, halfway through June !! Someone, somewhere, has dropped a ball here. Secondly, in a climate increasngly focussed on the adverse impact of alcohol, your range of soft drinks is not great - it's OK, but not as broad as it might be for a balanced offering. However, we will keep coming back, as they have the formula right at Cote.

We dined at Cote Clifton on Fri 5th Apr at 5.30. My wife and I ordered Boef en Croute from the Prix Fixe menu. When my wife looked under the pastry, she found one piece of meat the size of a marble. We showed the waiter who took it away and returned with a replacement which had an adequate amount meat and a replacement side of French beans. As compensation we were not charged for one of our glasses of wine. So the staff responded appropriately to the situation. The dish itself was satisfactory but the amount of beef was not generous. We have had much larger portions of blade of beef in pubs at a much lower cost. This is the first time we have eaten from the Prix Fixe menu and probably won't do so again. However, my creme caramel was excellent. We have always enjoyed eating from the A La Carte menu at Cote in Clifton and Quakers Friars and regarded it as superior to Cafe Rouge which we also enjoyed when they were in Bristol, but I think that now the standard is similar to Cafe Rouge.

We've been to 6 or 7 different Cote's. This was the worst experience by a county mile. Service incredibly slow and by the time our food arrived the white wine had warmed up. Only one starter turned up initially. Both main courses luke warm. Lamb badly overcooked with somewhat unusual crispy olives. Jerusalem artichokes under-cooked and tasteless, could easily have been potato. Were offered replacements but by this time we couldn't wait any longer. The wrong pudding for one of us turned up. The bill was reduced slightly but I would much rather have had a reasonable meal. The tables were so close together that a woman on the adjacent table managed to knock some of our glasses over when trying to get between the tables to sit down. Why should there be such a variation between restaurants?

We were a party of four who booked at the last minute. The service was excellent and our waitreess remembered remarkably exactly what we had all eaten when it came to splitting the bill. The Boudin Noir, Duck Confrit, Eggs Benedict, and Sea Bream were excellent and the complimentary Martini Blood Orange was nice surprise. The only problem was the noise level, as it is in many restaurants. We are regular customers and we will be back.

Wide menu, served by friendly and attentive staff. We were made to feel welcome and not rushed. The online booking is simple and fast with conformation e-mails sent promptly. The manager even helped provid change from a £10 note for the on-street parking meters. Perfect for a light business lunch. Thank you.

Good food , good atmosphere but tables were cramped up against other tables. Also a round of Gin and tonics was added to our bill despite being the offer of a free g & t with a main course. This did not happen at Cote Cardiff who knew, upon arrival, that we had booked the same offer.

Very pleasant, efficient staff and lovely that they did as I requested and put us in a quieter part of the restaurant. Absolute bliss that there was no piped music to compete with, at all ! The food was generally tasty and good, though the asparagus risotto was disappointing - over cooked rice and lacking in flavour. Sea bass was the best dish. It was an enjoyable outing, though, all the same.

Lovely staff as always but main course disappointing. A great veal chop ruined with a heavy sprinkling of dried tarragon and no sauce. Your a brasserie, do justice to the meat,! Whats wrong with oil, butter, dusting of flour, sage white wine and seasoning? It is quick, tasty and gives a proper sauce.

After dinning at the Cardiff cotes brassiere last year with my husband and being so impressed I was really keen to take my mum to her local cotes brassiere in Bristol! We were both really disappointed with the entrance into the building! Whilst the restaurant from the front and indeed inside is superb it is bitterly let down by the heavy curtains that adorn the lobby area! It makes it look like you are either entering a funeral parlour or a big top circus! Not a very classy look. I also feel it would of been nice to of had some delicate french music playing as my mum and I were some of the first lunch time diners in the restaurant it felt a little awkward and quite!

We went along for the early evening meal deal. One of our party is a vegan. She was given the vegan menu, but when she asked if this was on the offer was told, no, it's more expensive. So a) she is being penalised for being vegan and b) vegan food has no meat or dairy so we are really struggling to understand how that could end up being more expensive. It took two members of staff and much discussion around whether or not she could have the deal. It was so confusing we just gave up and think she ended up paying full price. The service was hit and miss for most of the evening - really under staffed with only a couple of waiting staff running around trying to do everything. The food is nice but the rest could do with some work.

Good, except the mussels in the fish stew weren’t quite right; some hadn’t opened and some that had opened were ‘disappointing ‘ - they were not ‘off’ but they had no good fleshy centre that could be extracted ( I am very familiar with eating mussels). Service and the rest of the meal were good - as usual.

The restaurants in Clifton get pretty booked at peak periods but thanks to the large capacity, Cote Brasserie could accommodate us for lunch. They were very helpful even when we had to amend our booking (originally submitted online). The premises are rather long following the contour of the street, so has multiple levels with steps up to each area (something to allows for with disabled guests). The layout means there is lots of window area to observed the passersby. The young staff were friendly and efficient, making us feel welcome. We only had a main course so that may have accounted for the delay in serving but it wasn't a problem. The food itself was very good and the rib-eye steak was one of the most tasty and best cooked (rare) I have tasted in quite some time. The tuna steak was equally well cooked with a subtle smoke flavour enhancing the taste experience. The Chicken and Walnut salad was also greatly enjoyed by two of our party. There was a bit of the "self assembly" required of the dishes e.g. fries in pots, etc but not too bad. We also felt for the environment and high quality food, the prices were pleasingly reasonable. A very pleasing experience beyond what we normally expect for a chain. Well done. PS I have posted this to Tripadvisor as well

Great atmosphere, food and service. Food very good, although one of the puddings had been in the fridge too long and the pastry had dried out leaving the lemon filling stranded. However, not charged for the failed dessert and we left having enjoyed a relaxing evening.

Lovely meal, pleasant surroundings, good service. Been here many times before. A celebratory lunch so very successful. My husband always likes s coffee with his dessert but this request received”I can’t promise but I’ll do my best”. The coffee arrived with the dessert but we fail to see why it would have been a problem.
