Food was lovely but there were two things that spoiled the experience 1. I ordered roast duck. When it arrived it was as tough as boot leather. Hard to even cut, took forever to chew. The staff were ok about replacing it, but really it should never have left the kitchen. It also meant that our romantic meal for two got out of sync and we ate at separate times. Not great. 2. We had two £40 gift vouchers to spend. Our bill was £73 but we were told that we wouldn’t get change or credit for the £7 difference. I think this is an outrageous thing. Someone paid good money to a value of £80 for our vouchers. We’re now all wishing they had just given us cash instead, which surely must be contrary to the whole concept. Not happy about this at all. This is our money, not yours. I definitely won’t be buying gift vouchers in the future

Very friendly greeting when we entered the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was very efficient, but unobtrusive. A very pleasant evening.

The food was seriously good , mine was slightly under seasoned but that personal taste I think , The staff where amazing but the mains took ages to come out unfortunately so we had to rush as we had other plans , Manager gave us a few free drinks for the next visit so all ended well Will be returning

The staff were very attentive and super friendly. I had to send my minute steak back after a very long wait for main courses. It was dealt with speedily and when the steak came back it was perfection!

Delicious food and friendly helpful staff The creme caramel is absolutely dreamy. All makes for a perfect evening with friends.

Always have the best time when we visit Cote Bishop’s Stortford. The food is always delicious but what makes it great is the service from the waitresses. They are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. 10/10

Very nice evening with very good value for money food

The staff at Cote Bishop's Stortford are fantastic. They were so generous for my friends birthday breakfast offering us all a glass of mimosa on the house. All staff were attentive asking regularly if we needed anything/ were happy with our food. We felt very well taken care of and special. Everything was perfect and we will be back again.

Excellent food and wine, service perfect and generally a great evening. Every meal had such flavour and depth and from start to finish it was thoroughly enjoyable. The french onion soup is always a winner and the chocolate fondant fabulous! Definitely recommend.

Great food. Good atmosphere but today the service was a bit slow (a Sunday lunchtime, otherwise would have given 6 stars).

All the staff were so helpful especially as there were five children in our party 4 being under 4yrs we all had a great time

We had a fantastic meal! Thank you so much! The staff were absolutely lovely and made a great fuss of our sons!! They made a lovely effort for my eldest sons birthday - bringing him a special dessert and singing Happy Birthday to him. Finally, and most importantly the food was absolutely delicious- there was so much on the menu that I wanted to try so we will be back!

Great ambiance and delicious food. Service was excellent but I dislike the imposition of a 12.5% service charge (which we did pay). It's disingenuous to call it optional as withholding it causes awkwardness and spoils the experience. Service should be left to the discretion of the customer.

We booked a table for 2 adults more than one week before. As a special request we asked for a table in the window (we thought this possible as we gave plenty of notice). Upon arrival, all of the window tables were taken and this was of course a disappointment to us - given the notice we gave them. However, the manager apologised and provided 2 complimentary drinks (pink champagne?) as compensation, and then he moved us to a table as soon as one became available. Following this, the starter arrived, which was fantastic. The main course followed and unfortunately my order was incorrect - I ordered Fillet Steak 7oz - but was served Minute Steak. I think the waitress taking the order must have heard the word 'minute' rather than 'fillet'. The management again apologised as did the waitress - apology fully accepted and my Fillet Steak followed about 10 minutes later - during which time my wife meal was kept warm - which was fine. Suggested linen napkins to the manager as we were provided with paper napkins - again, this he sorted out for us. All in all a good experience apart from the table and wrong food issues.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable relaxing evening. Staff always on hand, helpful and friendly. Had a nice welcome as we arrived. The food was excellent, great quality, didnt have to wait too long for it to arrive at our table. Restaurant overall very clean with good lighting and decor. Bit of a distance to the toilets but guess thats because it's an old listed building. But nevertheless would definatley like to visit again. Highly recommended.

Dropped in for lunch and thoroughly enjoyable it was too. The scallop special was first class as was the crepes. Service was good and came with the requisite smile! Thank you Cote Bishop’s Stortford for another enjoyable meal.

Valentines Celebrations! Lovely treat and great value for money. Only the set Valentines menu was available but this was well advertised and there was a fantastic choice for each course and also the option to upgrade to include wine of which we decided to do. Very busy but food was excellent along with the wine choices. Service during the meal was excellent but felt once we had finished our food we were then left and we had to ask for the bill. Overall we had a lovely evening
