Nice table in window and the French Merlot was served at a good temperature. Poulet a bit dry (over grilled) but in a nice thyme sauce.

Excellent service and high quality food spoiled only by an extremely noisy table alongside ours. A shame they were not asked to tone down the noise somewhat.

Our French onion soup, mussels and desserts were all lovely. My poulet grille had been left under the grill? heater? marginally too long which spoilt the overall enjoyment of the otherwise delicious dish. Everything else was excellent - our enjoyment was only marred by the excessive "canoodling" of a (middle-aged!) couple sitting directly behind us .....................

A really lovely experience. My first visit to a Cote and I'll definitely return. The staff were so welcoming and attentive but not overly so. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Very good value for money.

Lovely setting, easy location to find in town centre. Food always good quality, nice view on street from window seating. Will definitely visit again very soon

Food was as expected pleasant not amazing.Service efficient sometimes overly and became intrusive as we were in conversation with our friends ., it's a fine line to get it right

This is a lovely, cosy place with nice, helpful staff. The October specials were excellent, we really enjoyed the beetroot salad, the ham with celeriac followed by the haddock & mushroom risotto. Your house champagne has always been one of my favourites too, keep it up Cote Bishops Stortford, we love you!

Have been here several times and food is good, however there has always been a feeling that the atmosphere is not quite right. On our recent visit the service was very slow and after 1hr 15 mins we had only just had our starter. On clearing the plates, the waiter decided to refill ‘our’ glasses and poured the whole of what was left into my husband’s glass (his glasss was not empty at the time). On noticing my look of surprise he then asked if we wanted to order another bottle. The answer was no, but it would have been nice to have been asked if I wanted any of the existing bottle. We were asked how our meal was at the end of the evening, and mentioned both of the above, but the only response was that they agreed service was very slow, and no real explanation of the wine. On reflection, I think the atmosphere has always felt false, with no genuine interest of whether service/food is good. Just going through the motions to make sure the questions have been ticked without really listening to the answers.

Lovely food as always with cote but also paired with incredibly quick service and attentive staff. Had 3 courses with wine in less than an hour!

Outstanding service. The staff were quick and polite. The food was fantastic!!! They made sure i had the vegetarian menu when they realised i was unable to find anything to eat on the normal menu. Amazing evening!!

Good food, service and atmosphere. We both ordered salad nicoise. The tuna tasted a little burnt where is had been grilled, but overall it was a very pleasant meal.

I went to the restaurant with my husband and 2 young children. We had an amazing meal and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend it.

Cold food served as a main meal I had duck and it was cold wasn’t happy they offered to re cook but wouldn’t eat with my friends at the same time

The waiting staff were welcoming and friendly but unobtrusive. The food was tasty and cooked to pur preferences-meat for example. The restaurant was busy but that created a great mood.

We were met with graciousness and reminded that we could have a free bottle of wine providing we chose from the a la carte menu - which we did. I would have liked some malt vinegar with my frites (chips), but understandably in a French restaurant they only had balsamic. I don't think he waiter quite understood my request - but no matter. They ordered a taxi for us at the end of the meal which was very enjoyable for both of us. We will definitely go again in the not too distant future although there are a splendid lot of eateries in Stortford.

friendly warm staff and restaurant, food tasted amazing. Lunch time menu is very reasonable priced and food was served by friendly team and within a reasonable time.

It was a nice meal. I had french onion soup, followed by beef bourguignon and ending with creme brulee. The free bottle of merlot wine offered was not what I would have personally ordered, but it was pleasing. My mother had the same ( apart from not having a starter ) The staff at Cote are very good and know their jobs well. This is a nice restaurant.

Had a fantastic meal, as usual, the service was great, the atmosphere buzzy as the restaurant was quite busy, good seats, ready to go back soon.

The low rating is because one of our main dishes was inedible! The chicken was overdone to the point that the knife bounced off it! Disappointing !

A great meal with excellent service. The menu was full of interesting choices. We were very grateful to receive a complimentary bottle of white wine, which was superb. A memorable night out with friends, before my wife starts chemotherapy treatment tomorrow.

The service was as it always has been, very attentive with a very pleasant manner. As for the food, again, all our party were extremely satisfied. We will be back.
