Côte Bishop's Stortford

Joined friends for a nice relaxing lunch yesterday. Staff were very welcoming, and we weren’t rushed into deciding our meal. We had a lovely gin and tonic whilst choosing what we wanted. The food was delicious as usual. The staff were very friendly, although missing some lovely staff who have left.

it would have been six, but for the piece of chewing gum stuck underneath the table. we meant to mention it but forgot! clearly not that important. as always we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Poor service with a smile, bring back the previous team please Cote used to be such a warm and welcoming place, now its not very friendly or welcoming at all

The food and drink was, as always in Cote restaurants, very good. This visit was however let down by the long delay before taking our order. I have to say that we were about 25 minutes late because of major roadworks in the town causing a long queue on approach roads. But we phoned ahead and the staff said it would be OK. Also, the restaurant was not really full so the delays in ordering and serving were puzzling.

Whilst I have always been satisfied with my visits to Cote, today’s visit was disappointing due to the shortage of staff, and my steak was rather tough!

Cotes is one of our favourite restaurants. The food is always well presented and maintains a consistent high quality. Add to this the excellent and courteous service, what else could you ask for?!

I requested a booth and it was not reserved. I understand Cote’s policy in this regard but it did not enhance my dining experience. Also waiters tend to surly. Lovely venue however and food is very good.

The staff are attentive but not intrusive. We sat chatting over brunch for 3 hours and were never bothered. Always a pleasure to visit Côte Brasserie, Bishops Stortford.

As always very good food and service at Cote in Bishop's Stortford. There is always a warm relaxing atmosphere especially nice on a miserable wet evening. Would highly recommend.

Good ambiance, good food, and attentive service made for a perfect early evening meal. Not our first time there and will definitely not be the last.

Seems to be going in the wrong direction this place. We use it a lot, but there now seems to be less staff. The restaurant was more than half empty, but we waited overly long to order our food including being handed dessert menus at the end but after 10 minutes nobody came back to ask if we wanted anything! I then had to get up to go and ask for the bill. You cannot fault the food, but service is now lacking

Food quality, presentation and choice good. Appeared to be lots of staff but service mediocre, ambience lacking. Might be lunchtime maybe better in the evening. Not likely to return

Food very good, however, service not nearly as good and attentive as the Bury st Edmunds restaurant. Also not sure if this is a change of policy throughout Cote but have always had cloth napkins in Bury, not paper, it makes the experience more special.

Very disappointed as not told when we booked on the net and arrived in the restaurant that mussels were not on the menu until we ordered our drinks. We made the journey to Bishop Stortford specially for mussels as we have always in the past enjoyed them there.

Nice food , well presented and prepared although service wasn’t up to normal standard. However They were very apologetic. Pleasant surroundings would recommend if you don’t mind waiting.

Food was excellent if expensive. Service was reasonable despite being greeted with - when we asked to sit outside - the service mjght be slow as they had staff shortages. In the event, it wasn't a slow service until we reached the sweet stage. The "freer" cocktails as per booking were actually put on the bill £27+so we had to point this out. Otherwise, a good experience and we will doubtless go back sometime.

Pretty ordinary. Do not like presumptuous service charge addition. Will probably give Cote a miss for the foreseeable future as last few times have lacked something

Great all round service - good food , good choices - good ambience --our favourite restaurant in Bishops Stortford - what more can I say!

Great place to go for a quick, informal meal. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being annoying. The menu is not extensive but decent food and reasonably priced.

I’m a regular at Bishops Stortford, this place is consistently high quality, tasty food with excellent service. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the food, but the service was rather slow. The aperitif was really delicious, most unusual. We did not realise we had to make special mention of requesting it at the time of booking.LOVELY FOOD .Thankyou.

Excellent food and service as always. Considering current temperatures outside the air conditioning kept the inside of the restaurant at a very comfortable temperature. Will visit again

FRONT of house welcome was 5 Star. Menu for August left us wanting to return to try more. All corses were exceptional. Pampered by great staff. A fantastic evening. Thank you all.

God food and service. Air con helped in the hot weather! Portion size could do with being a little larger, but overall it was fine.

Cote is a very attractive restaurant in a convenient position in the centre of town. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is always delicious and reasonably priced.

A delightful lunch. Excellent food and - what is so important for me - sufficient space and ambiance to enjoy a private conversation with one's fellow diner. Service was attentive and welcoming. Succulent calamari, two first-rate fish dishes (sea bass and parmentier), and then two perfect creme brulees. There is an extensive list of French wines, for all budgets. Complimentary filtered water was a nice touch (no pressure to order over-priced mineral water. Highly recommended.

Staff were great this was for first year anniversary with my girlfriend steak was tasty and vegi menu was good also restruant looks nice at night would reccomend to anyone ignore the bad reviews

The food is always of a very high quality and the service exceptional. The variety of the seasonal menus is always enticing and I often find it difficult to choose. I am never disappointed.

As always consistently brilliant food and service! The calamari was particularly good and the duck was incredibly good value. I'll be back soon for sure.

A friendly welcome with requested table waiting for us.Food was good as usual with staff giving good service, and not having to wait too long for our meal.

Great food and a great atmosphere, the waiting staff were as attentive as ever and the Rose wine was perfectly chilled and the pre-dinner summer cocktails were amazing

Our favourite restaurant, good service, good choice, good food, good ambience, fair price. If any dish is not quite right it is changed without question, not that it happens often, well done.

Good quality breakfast and coffee. The formule set breakfast is great value for money with great staff. We will definitely be returning again very soon.

Service and food as good as ever, except : Unfortunately the calamari turned out to be stomach churning. Maybe they were past their eat by state.

A very pleasing and comfortable restaurant. Staff are so very friendly and professional in their attitude towards clients. Good food and good menu. Especially like the fact that they change the menu monthly. Like the rewards!

Service was friendly and good. I had a goats cheese salad with roasted vegetables. A bit odd to have carrots and very rough large vegetables which were hard to cut. Ok but not up to the usual high standard.

Delicious food in a lovely setting - a winner in my book. I had the mousse followed by seafood linguine from the menu of the day, they were both excellent and good value for money. Sadly I didn’t have room for dessert!

As always, food was excellent. However, 2 things made it not a magical experience I) the eagerness of the staff to want to serve you the next course or order from the dessert menu (we were asked twice in 3 minutes by two separate staff members if we had decided on desserts) meant that the experience felt rushed. This is a growing trend with restaurants these days. ii) pricing - our meal came to £114 for 2 - Cote is beginning to become at the top end of pricy and may cause me to shop around as prices continue to climb.

Staff very welcoming, shown to our table and order taken promptly. Meal excellent we even got a free Spritzer given in July when online booking.

Flexible and understanding staff who kindly revised the time of my booking twice in the evening before we arrived as my friends plane was delayed coming into Stansted Airport. Warm friendly greeting when we did get there. Listened attentively to our food requirements (one pink the other very well done) and served delicious cooked to perfection food. Understood our need to be quick as my friend had a train to catch to complete her onward journey. Highly recommend!

Staff always attentive, efficient and friendly. I love the fact that the menu changes and there is always something new to try. Wines are good quality too and not too expensive.

The service was slow 1 starter came 5 mins after all the others my main course Fish pie was totally dried up and burnt and the replacement wasn’t due for 10 mins after everyone else was finished so I cancelled it,both the ducks were dried up which the waiter agreed as another customer had complained about it.so all in all it was very poor indeed

Quiet ambience - background music kept low and Monday evening meant not too busy. Lovely helpful service without being intrusive. Good selection of wines and really tasty meal. Thank you all at Côte Bishop’s Stortford.
