Côte Bishop's Stortford

I know you are a French restaurant but perhaps the portions could be a little more generous - especially for children. This is my only negative comment otherwise our experience was excellent.

Our favourite restaurant- Good atmosphere, Great service, and Delicious food.

Enjoyed a very pleasant meal for 3 people on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was well presented and well cooked - my particular favourite is the sea bass- we all had desserts and they were all good - especially the chocolate fondant. Nice bottle of sauvignan blanc. Slightly on the pricy side for a chain restaurant but the quality of the food is consistently above that offered at other chains. Have been to Cote Brasserie in Cambridge and St. Albans and Bishop's Stortford compares favourably.

Overall I would give 5* the only reason I put 4* for service was that once our main course arrived they went away without asking if if we wanted anymore drinks and as we were towards the back section, and at this point the only ones there, no one came round for us to ask. It nearly got to the point that I was going to get up to go and find someone but luckily I did see someone in the bar area and managed to get her attention. Other than that the staff were lovely and meal superb so overall still 5*!

We had a lovely evening friends at Cotes. Food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The staff were all very friendly and didn’t rush. Can’t wait to visit again.

We turned up on time. Took to long to get drinks....... My wife’s Tomato side dish arrived Then, had to wait for my starter. Had to wait far to long for our mains. Nothing at all wrong with the food, I fact it was very good ! We then decided not to have desserts or Coffee as we suspected we would have to wait to long. We don’t think the issues were to do with our waiting staff as they were very polite and friendly even though they were new recruits.More likely a slow Kitchen.

We had a lovely welcome, unfortunately I was given a different meal than I asked for, but it was replaced with no problem , and the food was good as usual.

Good value but really noisy staff pleasant will return probably mid week

Brilliant - as always We are regulars - because the food and service are consistently good.

This is usually our favourite place to go locally but tonight the food was not great (which is the 2nd time we have been disappointed)and it all felt quite stressed. For example the fish was very over cooked and dry. 3 out of the 6 of us had ice cream which was very runny when it arrived which resulted more in creamy soup. Sadly very disappointing but the staff were their usual happy selves, although sadly we will Have to find somewhere else to go in the future which is a great shame as it had been a firm favourite but after a couple of not so good meals it’s time for a change.

Lovely evening, the staff were accomodating and found me a lovely table. I had a tuna nicsoise, girl friend butterfly chicken. Tuna was overdone (cooked medium rare suggested on the menu, which is just how I like it) but otherwise food was reasonable. Coffee and dessert lovely - tarte lemon tarte was good - chocolate souffle enjoyed by my pal. Welcoming place - good fun. Thanks.

The service was good but the restaurant was covered in flies. When I say there was about 20 or more. It really put us off our meal. We came before about a year ago and had the same problem but thought it might have been ok. We won’t be returning because of this.

The ambience was relaxed. The staff were friendly but not too pushy. The food was very delicious.

The service was very slow last night and things were missed from the order, I had ordered a beer. Also one order of peas was missing from our food order and the person had to wait for them. We were told they were understaffed, not what you would expect to hear from Cote.

My husband and I went recently for an anniversary meal and we were well pleased. I had the Tuna carpaccio followed by a fillet steak, deliciously tender. My husband had the charcuterie board followed by The Bretton chicken. A nice bottle of white wine was offered to us for signing up to a regular email. The service was good and as it was a Monday evening it was quiet, which suited us. A very nice evening

The food was lovely but the service is terrible. It is so slow. The table was never cleared next to us and we were there two hours. We waited 30 mins to pay the bill.

Really enjoyed our evening, a nice atmosphere, attentive staff. Very surprised at our bill, considering what we had eaten and drunk. We will definitely be back.

Excellent service, as always, and personalised with the free Kir Royal to mark my wife's birthday, which I'd mentioned when booking. They didn't have to do that, but it was a nice touch, and made the evening that much more special. As for the food, probably the best chateaubriand I've had, cooked to perfection. We've never had a bad experience at this restaurant. Looking forward to the next visit!
