Côte Bath

First visit to the Bath restaurant, very enjoyable. Although we only had one course & coffee, we would have no problem in recommending this venue to anyone looking for value for money with friendly staff & an excellent choice of menu.

Having had a wonderful experience at the Cote Brasserie in Cirencester a few months ago, I booked a table for New Year's day at your place in Bath. We arrived at the allotted time to be taken past plenty of empty tables and then downstairs and past yet more empty tables to a dingy two seat table right beside the bar. My seat was facing the wall. I asked not to be facing the wall and we were shown to another table where we both face outwards. I soon realised that those of us who had reserved a table were put in this section. A party was put next to us whilst the rest of the restaurant was nearly empty. We ordered the food and started. The onion soup that my wife had ordered was scalding and she burnt her mouth on it. The waitress's reaction was "I will tell the chef" and walked off. In your defence my starter was really nice. At this point we realised that we were seated in direct flow of a very cold draught when the door to the street was opened. The restaurant was now filling up and no options to move. My wife was then told by the waitress that they had run out of tagliatelle and would she mind mashed potato with her stroganof. She didn't and so we then waited, and waited and about 40 minutes later our main course arrived. My salmon and salad was very nice until I felt a sharp pain in my mouth and extracted a piece of broken mussel shell that had found it's way into the salad. Again when I told the same waitress she said she would tell the chef. When we are asked if we wanted anything else we said no and the we again waited. Eventually I got up and went to pay. I was told by the staff that they had removed the price of the salmon from my bill. Due to the poor service I asked for the service charge to be removed. We were both very disappointed. Frankly I felt like we were just processed by staff who really didn't want to know and really didn't want to be there. So, Cote has gone from hero to zero. I was so impressed with our last visit that I wrote rave reviews. I hope this will help in improve you establishment. Sorry, but if I could give no stars I would.

Good food and had a great time but only comment was service was a bit rushed

Ok new years eve but why push our starter in front of us before we had finished or'deavues and no cutlery nor napkin when our main arrived simple stuff . Also very rowdy and swearing party close by not challenged.

Two very noisy ladies spoilt the atmosphere for everyone there

I use Cote regularly, mainly Guildford branch (always good there). First time at Bath today for brunch. I was disappointed because my food did not arrive as specified whereas my wife's food did (sausage for her well done and good dark brown colour, mine pale and anaemic looking, her bacon well done and crisp, mine pale and limp). I had to get up to ask for table service when there were three waitresses within 25ft who were never scanning for where their attention was required, but busy talking or examining their nails! Also, the person cooking scrambled egg needs a lesson or two in providing a good creamy product, not a very lumpy one.

First time at Cote Bath but been to many Cote Restaurants in last 5 years. What struck me immediately was lack of the usual smiley staff, everything was rushed and decor wise not your typical cote. When trying to get our waiters attention near midnight he informed us that it was their time now(the staff) to have a drink at midnight and could we wait! Incredibly rude and condescending not how you should speak to your customer. Real shame first time we have had a negative experience at a Cote. I had cutlery in my lap as waiter doing everything too quickly when there was no need

Not a bad meal this time but not up to the usual standard. Perhaps its the Christmas rush so hopefully next time it will be back to normal which is very good.

Busy pre-Christmas but excellent service (a slight issue on some previous visits at busy times). Delicious chicory and blue cheese salad, such a good mix. Reliably crunchy fish-and-frites.

Took friends for lunch who had not been to Cote before and they were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed their meal and will definitely be going again. As always a fantastic meal.

Service was good, as was the food, as usual. The restaurant just looked a bit ‘tired’. It didn’t seem that old but a lot of customer traffic had clearly passed through. We’ll be back though.

Efficient service. Decent food. Risotto needs work, though. Overall ok.

We chose from the a la carte for lunch. The choice is varied so there is something for most people. The quality of food - freshness and flavours is very good. We both had Scallops with black pudding and purred parsnip which was flavoursome. Service is very good and friendly.

The service, food, wine and ambience was first class. We were looked after by the very lovely Dewi who was on the ball with great service and made us feel very welcome. My starter of warm beetroot salad was delicious followed by the very homely chicken with mushroom and potato. I finished with a creme caramel. Yum. My 4 friends also loved the whole experience thank you Cote Bath and Dewi for great service. We will be back in the New Year. Happy Christmas x

Consistantly pleasant experience as a result of good friendly and efficient service, quality food in a very pleasant location, all bodes well for a good experience and future visit.
