Côte Barbican

Great quality food and plenty of it at a very competitive price, and served by friendly, efficient staff. This was my second visit to a Cote restaurant, but will not be my last.

As always, Côte was very pleasant. Food good, service good and, on Sunday, the place was quieter than during the week when it is sometimes difficult to hear yourself speak!

Did what we expected - and more. Pre-performance supper at Barbican branch, excellent, fast, friendly and attentive service, usual Cote menu (excellent VFM). Couldn't be more conveniently situated for Barbican 2 cinema - hadn't realised that it was part of the same building.

We go there regularly before a Barbican concert, and always receive first class service and value for money. We are regular visitors to other Cote restaurants as the food is always very good.

Bright welcome. Good food. Decent wine. Friendly service. I was awarded a welcome drink for my party of 3 but I had to ask for it which was slightly awkward!

Great leisurely lunch at a very reasonable price. I went on a Monday with 4 colleagues and enjoyed good food from a varied menu and attentive efficient service.

Lovely atmosphere. First visit to cote for anything other than breakfast (which was delicious and excellent value). Had the £12.50 two course pre-theatre menu ....steak frites....creme caramel and a beautiful apple crumble. Really lovely bread and butter on the side. All so nice.

The meal itself, and the recommended wine, was good and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. The whole experience was most worthwhile and it won't be long before we go again!

even in a busy pre-theatre evening we were warmly served and looked after. however a starter dish (flatbread with Camembert) had ran out, we were offered alternative with garlic bread, which we didn't mind, but that spontaneous solution was not up to the typical, very decent, expectation of cote's quality. Having said that it was very minor in an overall very pleasurable occasion with good food.

Efficient, prompt service; very comfortable and the food was fresh and well cooked. Would recommend for a lunch and would definitely go there again. Very good.

Excellent food and service at a location ideally placed for the Barbican. Good range on the menu, including pre/post theatre prix fixe. Good place, too, for breakfast.

I and 5 guests had a post-birthday pre-concert supper. The complimentary kir royales were appreciated. The set price menu was as always very good value. Service was as efficient and friendly as could be expected considering how busy the brasserie was. Generally an enjoyable visit.

Great location close to the Barbican Centre. The food and service were excellent, and the staff attend you with a smile. Would certainly go again.

Food was cold,long wait between courses. Was given discount as regular customers, but not the point. Still go every 2 weeks. Tonight was just a bad night all round.

Service was unusually slow, we were kept waiting at the front door before being shown to a table. food was good though we only had time for one course and no coffee I'm sure this was a blip in the usually good service.

Excellent food and efficient friendly service allowing us to enjoy a good pre-Theatre meal in the rather limited time available before our event started at 7pm.

Food well cooked. Menu covers most peoples tastes at reasonable prices. Only blot was that olives were ordered but never came. However, we were not charged for them.

Côte is consistently good. Service is friendly and efficient and the food well prepared. I had just had my graduation, so Côte Barbican was an obvious choice for our celebratory lunch

Excellent service & good food, real value for money. We had the pre-theatre menu which was served promptly so we got to the show in good time.

We had a lovely meal with very good attentive service. Pleasant, if somewhat noisy surroundings and comfortable seats. A very good experience and to be recommended.

Decent lunchtime and pre-theatre menu, quick service, helpful and pleasant staff. Have eaten here before and will definitely visit again. Brilliantly located for the Barbican

great meal today thank you. If I had to criticise the risotto was too aldente and lacked flavour. but still plenty of choice and a convivial venue

Fantastic service. Pre-ordering our food meant that we had a three course meal within 1.5 hours. Plus there is good choice on the menu and prices are very reasonable.

Pre theatre menu excellent value and very good choice of well prepared,tasty food.Very pleasant waitresses and welcoming manager.Prompt,efficient and attentive service.Absolutely no complaints.When they get it right it can't be beaten.

Excellent menu, particularly the anniversary menu. The normal menu also very well thought out and balanced. The service is excellent with friendly attentive waiters. Highly recommended.

Great service. Food was very delicious and the 3 course meal offer was very reasonable. The only downfall is I wish they had more vegetarian options on the set menu.

Service was terrible. We were left standing at the door for ages. 3 separate staff members approached isn't said we had to wait for "The Manager". After that I had to get up find a member of staff get each and every time we wanted something. I.e. For drinks, to order, for desert menu, for coffees (which never arrived). Finally I got up and asked for the bill and to cancel the coffees. They took the service charge off the bill without being asked The steak was tough and barely edible. All together very disappointing and not what I expect from Cote

As usual, the service was very friendly and efficient. The surroundings were pleasant. The menu choice good and the food was well presented and it arrived hot.

The waiter was very new, which is fine, but it took him 15 minutes after placing our order to inform me they were out of my appetizer (tartare). As he was informing me and asking me to order another appetizer, the main course showed up!! I this point I cancelled the appetizer altogether but it showed on the bill!!! Not impressed with staff but food was good.

Waitress was very unfriendly and poured over -priced wine as if sloshing water on a pot plant. Food arrived swiftly but meat was cold and tough. Had to ask 3 times for mustard before going to get it myself. One young waiter was very polite and apologetic. Usually a big fan of Cote but this was distinctly poor.

Lovely waiting staff at barbican cote that recognise returning customers. The restaurant was efficient, perhaps the male manager could have smiled. The large main courses and some of the starters and desserts were good.

The breakfast service was good. Even though I have booked quite early - 8 a.m, we didn't have to wait for the food for too long.

Very good service. Food was very good at a remarkable price. The pre-theatre menu is exceptional value for money. We have eaten in several Cotes across London and the South East but The Barbican restaurant is consistently the best.

Cote rapide dishes are pretty good when you're in a rush for the concert/theatre. I had Moule and while the mussles were perfectly cooked there wasnt much flavour. My friend had the chicken which he said was delicious. Service was great and we were in and out on time!

Pleasant meal, perhaps trying almost too hard to be haute cuisine. The beetroot carpaccio was so citrussy as to be irritating (2 of us thought this); the plaice was delicious, with a lovely sauce, but I couldn't see why the peaches in the peach crumble had been diced so fine that there was very little peach taste at all. Presentation trumped taste.

We opted for the pre-theatre menu, which has a good range of options (including several veggie or fish dishes) and is excellent value. The starters (golden beetroot and mackerel rillettes) and main courses (plaice fillet and chicken breast) were both very good - reasonable portions, well-prepared and nicely presented. The service was prompt and attentive. The restaurant itself is a little noisy because of the hard surfaces everywhere, but nevertheless this is an ideal place to have a meal before going to a concert or play in the Barbican.

Great value when choosing from the set menu and fairly speedy and attentive service. Would have given 6 but one of the starter dishes was not available.

A good atmosphere welcoming and helpful. Good service, waiters polite and with a nice manner. Good menu with plenty of choice. Food and drinks were very good and came on time. Overall a good experience.

A good restaurant before a concert at the Barbican- a good pre theatre menu with choices for all diets and a good wine list. All the restaurant was short staffed we had excellent service.

Excellent service & food at a reasonable price. Nice wine selection, again at a reasonable price. Tables for 2 are a little close together, but other tables are fine.

Great food, great staff and good value for money. Wide menu selection - light bites to substantial suppers, to suit all tastes and pockets. Tables are well spaced, venue is comfortable. Elegant but informal. One of my favourite chains.

Quick, efficient service and good food. We had the pre-theatre menu and didn't have much time, we were very satisfied with two courses and a drink in pleasant surroundings. Thank you.

This particular Cote near the Barbican has a really good atmosphere and the layout is excellent - makes noise less - always a problem in today's restaurants. Why do young workers have to shout so much when the talk? Do they have no respect for other diners or are they so selfish for themselves they couldn't care less? Food excellent as always.
