The experience was very mediocre. The service was a bit slow, my mushroom soup was lukewarm, the potatoes that came with my salmon were unevenly cooked and my husband had to ask for mayonnaise for his chips twice before receiving it. However the food was not bad and the ambiance good. Always mediocre.

Nothing special but an acceptable local restaurant for me. With fixed price menus, the total bill always comes out to more than one might have thought, looking more like full-price.

One of the best meals at Côte Barbican. All three courses were excellent, especially the mushroom soup. Attentive service and because we were a little pushed for time they made sure we were not pressured. Looking forward to our next visit.

Always love this place. The food and the service are excellent. If there is something not quite right they deal with it immediately in a very professional way.

We had the set menu. Everything was its usual high standard apart from my starter - I had the spinach salad. The spinach was fresh but the rocquefort dressing was not. It stuck to the leaves like a dry paste and the lardons were cold and chewy. The rest of the meal was up to it’s usual high standard.

Terrible - the meal went back twice and the third time inedible. Not only had we problems but the two tables next us as well complained. It was awful.

Extremely slow service, the steak was tough (although the replacement was much better) and they took the optional service charge without our consent (in the form of an additional charge on our credit card) after we had decided not to pay it as the service and quality had been poor.

Surprisingly quiet this evening. Even the stream of commuters that pass that generous windows was reduced to a trickle. Service was efficient and pleasant. Kinda skimpy with Cheese on the Warm Roquefort Salads, but the Pork Belly and Sirloin steaks were sumptuous.

I've been to Côte Barbican on several occasions and I've always been very happy with the experience. We dined from the Prestige Set Menu which, we believe, offers excellent value for money. The service was good in as much as it was prompt but we weren't rushed or felt pressured in any way. Above all else though, you can have a decent chat with your fellow diners without there being a problem of too much noise. The restaurant wasn't too busy (neither was it that empty either) but whereas in other restaurants you'd probably have difficulty hearing people sitting next to you, I never find that it's a problem at Côte Barbican as the tables are well spaced.

Given previous experience we made a point of asking NOT to have our main courses bought until we asked for it to be served. Hate still finishing starters when next course is delivered. However, 5 minutes into starter main course arrives. Sent back, 5 minutes later 1 'dinged ' plate of food - sauce tide mark and solid remains and 1 luke warm plate presented. Sent back. Waitress very understanding and eventually got fresh hot plates when we were ready for them. So annoying because food was good but although we were given a reduction it was not the enjoyable evening it might have been.

There was very good service on a busy Sunday lunchtime. The food was tasty and was well presented although the fish was a little dry.

I love this place, but this was the worst meal I have ever had, both our meals had obviously been left on the Pass, were totally dried out - not good with a fish dish! If we hadn’t been dashing to the theatre would definitely have sent them back never to return. But - return I will as I know you usually do so much better, not sure about my guest which is sad.

Surprisingly, I found that the food not as near-perfect as usual. I had Tuna nicoise and : though the tuna should be med rare as stated this was rare to the point of being totally soft - no searing evident at all. Also the salad inc ( not traditional) big slices of raw bell pepper , which was bitter , hard to digest and added an unpleasant texture to the dish - disappointing.

Fast service, simple & tasty food in not too big portions. Perfect for pre-concert dining. Also the location is perfect as we can see the orchestra members going back to the Barbican Hall, we know it’s time to finish the meal.

The food was very good (gazpacho was fab) but our experience was not great due to how incredibly noisy it got by around 6:30. At a table for 2 we could barely hear each other.

Cote is always an enjoyable trip; however while we had a good time, we did have to wait for >5minutes to be seated, and then our main courses took quite a while to arrive. Lunch was therefore around 1.5hrs when we'd really want to be able to do two courses within an hour. The dietary requirements were professionally handled but I thought the modified salmon dish lacked a bit of seasoning. But very grateful that there was little fuss made about what was needed!

We had Sunday lunch with my in-laws, husband and our children. With three menu options, we all had lots of options for what (and how much) we might eat. With just one child choosing from the Kid’s Menu, the other ordering Steak Frites. The service was excellent - with our waiter being both charming and efficient. The food came in good time - once we’d ordered (the choice and three possible menus had made decision making a little tricky) But luckily we ordered some sharing starters - including what my son subsequently pronounced to be the best garlic bread ever - kept us all going. Everyone enjoyed and fished their meals and had pudding - Crème caramel all round (there was lots of choice, but it’s a cross-generation family favourite) It was a very wet day and this last minute booked family outing allowed us to have an enjoyable, reasonably priced, good quality meal - before we had to return to the driving rain!

Our first course was good: we had a vichyssoise soup (hot) and tuna rillettes. However the main course was disappointing because although the restaurant was not busy, we waited a very long time for the arrival of the main course. When it arrived the risotto was not hot and the rabbit parmentier was merely warm. The risotto was replaced very hot, but there was no request for a replacement parmentier, although that was offered. The good news is that the manager did not charge us for our two meals. Also the promotion of a St Germaine aperitif was delightful. So the restaurant put the customers' needs first.

Overall very happy with the visit and the expected excellent quality of food. The service whilst generally good was a bit slow. Normally when attending Cote we are shown to a table by a member of staff, this was not the case here and service was a tad slow.

Have no complaints at all about the food. The only problem we had was when we went to pay, first of all they included the cost of the wine, which we had been awarded free, when this was amended, it was then noticed that we had also been billed for something, ordered but, not given. Quite amusing really but, if we had not really taken much notice of the bill we would have been over £30 worse off! Will visit again regardless of these anomalies.

For the first time after many meals at Cote, in various towns around the south east of England, we had a wrong 'un. My wife had the beef, which was garnished with (literally) a handful of water cress, whilst I had the chicken, which was garnished with a handful of rocket. I also had a side of French beans. The French beans were undercooked and uneatable, whilst no attempt had been made to dress the garnish used on both plates. Our meal was at 16.30hours on Saturday, 18th August, which suggests to me a junior or trainee chef may have been in charge of the kitchen. But whoever it was should either be sent away for more training or sacked. My wife and I will use Cote Barbican one more time and if the food fails to live up to our reasonable expectations, we will not return again.

Good food, quickly and well served. The restaurant not being busy at the time, we were not pressured to pay our bill immediately afterwards, though on a previous occasion we had been - which was nice!
